Chapter 970 Since You Already Know

His gaze was cold and chilling, but there was no vengeance nor anger in it.
Waverly was unable to figure his expression out nor had she ever successfully done so.
Suddenly, Joseph sat up and got off the bed, heading for the door.
His back gave off the impression that he was lonely, all alone.
The doctors gave each other looks and left with him.
Only Waverly and Hayley remained inside the room.
Hayley immediately came over and sat herself next to Waverly, "Madam, are you okay? That man is a demon. We won't be imprisoned here forever, will we?"
Just as she finished speaking—
Joshua came in and said with a blank face, "Madam, Mr. Mccarthy has asked me to send you home."
They were in the car.
Joshua looked at Waverly through the mirror and asked, "Do you know why Mr. Mccarthy got beaten up that badly?"
Waverly just looked at Joshua calmly, not answering.
"He wanted to kill you, but Mr. Mccarthy objected. Then, he made an offer. He said that if Mr. Mccarthy was to kneel down and take three lashes, then he would let you go. So, that's what happened. It was his first time beating Mr. Mccarthy in his life, and Mr. Mccarthy's own first time kneeling down to someone. Do you know what a huge mistake it was for you to threaten Madam Mccarthy? It was the worst possible thing you could've done. You already knew what her family background is like." Joshua told Waverly everything.
"So, what are your intentions behind telling me all this? Are you trying to tell me that Joseph likes me? Or are you trying to get me to like him back?" Waverly asked calmly.
"I've told you this much because I want you to at least have a conscience and feel bad for the mistakes you have committed," Joshua said through gritted teeth.
Waverly turned away and looked out of the window. She pursed her lips and stayed quiet.
Throughout the entire ride, neither of them exchanged another word.
Back at the villa, the first thing Waverly did was to go upstairs to see her dog. After all, it was just an innocent creature who had done nothing wrong.
However, the dog was not upstairs.
She called out, "Doggy! Doggy!"
There was no resounding bark.
"Could it have gotten too hungry? Maybe it went out to look for food and someone took it home," Hayley said, intending to go out to look for it.
"Forget it. It's fine. I hope that someone actually brought it home because they liked it, so at least it won't starve to death," whispered Waverly.
The villa was much colder than Joseph's place.
Waverly shivered from the chill.
Hayley immediately grabbed the blanket from the rack and put it over Waverly.
"Woof!"
The sound of a dog barking rang out.
Waverly looked at the door in surprise.
Yadriel was standing at the door with the dog in his arms. Placing Snowy on the ground, he said, "After taking you away, Mr. Mccarthy instructed to bring the dog along so I'm now returning it to you."
As if recognizing her, the puppy ran to her feet immediately.
Similarly, Waverly was quite fond of this teacup poodle. Otherwise, she wouldn't have brought it back with her and would've just left it by the road.
She squatted down and picked the teacup poodle up from the ground.
Sandy had also followed Yadriel along. Aside from the dog, they also brought along many pots of flowers.
After counting, Hayley noted there were eight pots.
"I have to give it to Joseph for being observant. Knowing that you like flowers, he immediately sent some over," Hayley praised.
Waverly stroked the teacup poodle in her arms with a blank face.
Joseph was too quick-witted. He noticed every single thing she did.
That made her feel very uneasy.
"Check the surveillance camera footage and see if there's anything wrong with it. Then, you can go and report back to Bellamy. Remember, we've agreed to only tell him about things that are good as to not make him worry." Waverly reminded.
"Okay, I'll go now."
After that, Waverly took the dog out for a walk.
For the past few days, she had been locked up in a room without her vision. Only when she couldn't see did she realize how important having sight was.
Winter had passed by quietly, and the flowers had bloomed as a sign of welcoming spring. Some of the flowers had completely blossomed from being buds.
It looked like spring was upon them.
In the distance, she could see Giselle heading towards her. Frantically, she turned around and tried to escape.
"Stop right there!" Giselle snapped.
Waverly frowned.
The Mccarthy family's property wasn't that small, but it wasn't particularly huge either. There was nowhere else she could run to. Having no other choice, she turned around to face Giselle and nodded, "Hello, Auntie Giselle."
"I've got to give it to you, you're pretty good at this. You better not keep your hopes up though. Joseph told me he's just playing around with you. Once he's done, he'll let me do whatever I want to you. You'll see what happens when the time comes," said Giselle while gnashing her teeth.
Waverly looked at her apprehensively as she said, "I don't know who's playing around with who, but you're going to believe everything he says just like that?"
Giselle was so angered by her words that she stuck her hand out, intending to slap Waverly across the face.
Fearing that she would go blind a second time, Waverly stopped Giselle's hand before it could reach her face. Inching in closer to her face, she said, "There's something I haven't told you. I have surveillance cameras in my house. If you don't believe me, ask Joseph about it."
"You!" Giselle pulled her hand back from Waverly's grip. "What do you mean by telling me that?"
"You should thank your son for being so diligent. Otherwise, this footage would've already been in the hands of Uncle Thomson. He has always been a man who plays by the rules, plus he favors me. Would you like to imagine what he'd do to you?" warned Waverly quietly.
Giselle's face immediately turned pale, "You think I'm scared of him?"
"Ah, of course, you wouldn't be afraid of Uncle Thomson. After all, the worst that could happen would be you moving to another country and continuing to live your lavish life." Waverly raised her chin and continued, "Here's a piece of advice. The next time you see me, try to avoid me. I'm a temperamental person, and once I'm upset, I'll make your life hell. This thing between Joseph and I come down to how you're going to handle it. Let's see if he listens to his mother or continues to let me toy with him."
"Even I feel embarrassed on your behalf, you shameless woman!" Giselle cursed angrily.
"Fine, you can continue being embarrassed. I don't need your paws all over my business anyways," Waverly turned around to see Hayley running over to her anxiously.
"Madam!" Hayley shouted as she came over. "They aren't bullying you, are they?"
Waverly shook her head, "She's still in fear due to the last footage. She won't do anything to me in the meantime."
"No, I won't leave your side anymore. I'll stick by your side just in case anything happens," Hayley placed the blame on herself.
The corners of Waverly's mouth quirked. She sensed Hayley's good treatment towards her, so she replied, "It's fine. I'm sure something good will come out of all of this."
"And when is this good going to come? I've been waiting for it for far too long. By the way, I called the president just now and he was very worried about you. He should be calling you soon. You should have a good chat with him," Hayley informed.
Upon hearing Bellamy being brought up, a bitter feeling flowed through Waverly's heart.
"Hayley, you've seen how things are between Joseph and I, right?" Waverly asked directly.
Hayley pursed her lips and resisted the urge to cry, "He has bullied, imprisoned and threatened you. He's not a good person."
"So, you should know by now that our relationship isn't all that pure and innocent. In the future, don't associate Bellamy with me again. There's no chance of us getting together anymore. One day, he will meet the right person for him," Waverly's eyes were slightly red as she spoke.
As a matter of fact, her heart was still aching.
It must be the selfish part of her acting up. She knew very well that he would get married one day and that his bride would not be her. However, the thought of it still made her incredibly upset.
"What about you then, Madam?" Hayley asked with a heart-wrenching expression.
