Chapter 923 Nothing Left
"Do you take me for a coward? Or do you think that you could seduce me into doing it?" Joseph leaned back in the chair, holding his head with his hand, and said lightly.
"I thought that you are a man of great talent. After all, it's better to be suppressed by me than Madam Lenny, yes?" Waverly said suggestively.
A glimpse of light flashed across Joseph's eyes, and he tried to kiss her.
Waverly got up faster and sat on the table, "You don't have to agree immediately. I had expected you to not agree to it. Joseph, you have intelligence and strategy, but you don't have courage."
Joseph rushed over and held her shoulders. He threw her on the table, and his eyes became a little piercing, "Don't goad me. It's useless."
Waverly was not afraid. Her eyes were like still water, gazing into him, "I don't think that it's possible to get into the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through you. If someone else could help me get in, could you promise that you would not stand in the way?"
"Do you want to be a diplomat? For which country? A Country?" Joseph asked suspiciously.
Waverly chuckled, "If you think that I'm just going to be a mere diplomat, then you're underestimating my ambition. What I want to do is to replace Madam Lenny and become the minister of the entire Ministry of Foreign Affairs."
She hooked her arms around Joseph's neck, "What's wrong? Are you scared?"
Joseph suddenly kissed Waverly's lips. Waverly was taken aback, and Joseph directly planted a kiss on her. She frowned in annoyance and tried to compose herself.
She was no longer the Waverly she used to be. The Waverly now was diabolical. If she was not strong enough, how could she protect others then?
However, when Joseph tried to pry her lips open and slip his tongue in, she pushed him away and said, "General Mccarthy, are you trying to take advantage of me?"
"As long as you're mine, it's enough. If you please me, you will then obtain supreme glory," Joseph said calmly. His eyes were looking at her sharply.
"I haven't pleased anyone, yet I still reached the peak that you have always wanted to reach. What can you do?" Waverly pushed him away hard.
Joseph did not budge.
"General Mccarthy, you are very heavy," Waverly said helplessly.
Joseph raised the corner of his mouth and said, "No matter how heavy I am, you should take it in."
He said arrogantly and kissed Waverly again.
Waverly slapped him on the face. Joseph held her hand and pressed it on the table as if he was anticipating it.
Waverly was annoyed. She was only calm and gentle towards Bellamy. However, Joseph understood her vicious, dark side very well.
If she was a scorpion, Joseph was even more ferocious.
Her eyes were red, and she held back her tears.
There was no use crying. Bellamy was not here, and no one could care or protect her. She only had herself. If she couldn't avoid it, then she would fight it.
She put her arms around the nape of Joseph's neck. She put her legs around his waist and pulled him closer to her.
Joseph's breathing quickened.
She also felt an obvious change in his body.
Waverly was scared. She had only wanted to start a fire but not play with it.
He let go of her red and swollen lips and held her chin, "I don't want to wait for three months. Give me an answer now. Do you want to be mine?"
"I haven't even gotten anything, but you've already taken advantage of me. This doesn't seem fair," Waverly maintained her logic and said, hiding the panic in her eyes.
"I will arrange for you to enter the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a week," Joseph promised.
Waverly was shocked.
Although Joseph was a sinister man, he was also a man of his word. He would deliver whatever he promised.
Giving herself up to enter the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was not a good deal. Joseph was too smart and he could not be easily cheated.
"I used Madam Lenny's son-in-law and I'd still need to work under her. I have to think about it carefully," Waverly refused.
Joseph narrowed his eyes, and his pupils contracted as a cold light flashed, "So... were you just testing me just now? Were you testing where my bottom line is?"
"I thought that you would alter your bottom line for me," Waverly raised the corner of her mouth, charming and ethereal.
He nibbled on her lower lip. Waverly frowned and looked at him in pain.
He got up and tugged on his clothes, looking at her with a faint smile, "You know, you'll have to pay the price for analyzing me. I'm skipping lunch. I'll come to see you tonight."
Waverly looked at Joseph as he turned to leave. He wanted to see her that night. There was too much to read into what he said. She couldn't bear it anymore.
Hayley came in after Joseph left. Seeing Waverly sitting on the table in a daze, she walked over, worried, "Madam, are you okay?"
"When the tiger strikes, there will be nothing left. The reality is cruel. No one is a fool, and no one is dumber than me," Waverly murmured.
"Madam," Hayley saw how stoned Waverly was. She got worried and shouted again.
Waverly took a deep breath and came to her senses. She brushed the hair on the side of her face, looked at Hayley, and slightly raised the corners of her mouth, "I'm fine. He's not eating. Let's eat here."
"The man just now looked like someone not to be trifled with. He seemed unhappy when he left. Will it be bad for us?" Hayley asked.
"You can't read his emotions from his face. You don't have to worry about him," Waverly said and got up from the table.
At first, she had decided to stay by Joseph's side. After all, as long as she held him back, no one in the Mccarthy family would be willing to be the President.
However, as soon as she returned from abroad, Joseph gave her a head-on blow. He understood everything and knew the situation like the back of his hand. She understood he was no longer the same Joseph he was five years ago.
He was logical and emotionless. She couldn't take control of him. She would not be able to get anything if she were to stay with him. Instead, he would control her. It was dangerous, so she couldn't stay with him.
She was using plan B, going against strength with weakness. What she had was persistence.
She heard Stella's story. Stella used to be an obstetrics and gynaecology doctor. She gave up her work, went to the civil service examination and had a discipline inspection to be with Jasper. However, all her efforts went down the drain with Jasper's amnesia. She didn't give up and went abroad to learn psychology and became the top in the country. She went against Quinn with her wit and won over Zoah and Christian. Then, she became the most feared person of the government officials in A Country, and she was invited to enter the Cabinet.
She was now the deputy district head of the Special District and the district head's wife. Her power was equivalent to a small, independent, powerful country with a lot of money.
She was willing to learn and start all over again, but the problem was...
