Chapter 984 I Only Want To Stay By His Side
Waverly waved her hand and a taxi stopped in front of her.
She opened the door of the taxi and smiled at Joseph, wearing the expression that he had when he laughed at her, which was filled with irony.
She got in the taxi and said to the driver, "To the Mccarthy Mansion."
Joseph's smile disappeared upon seeing Waverly leave. His eyebrows became furrowed again.
He had not been satiated.
Yasmine couldn't understand the situation, "She left just like that. Does she not want the car anymore? What does she mean by that?"
Yadriel came over.
Joseph rolled down the window and looked at the taxi in front of him. Then, he ordered Yadriel, "Handle this."
"Alright," Yadriel replied.
Yasmine looked at Joseph as his expression had darkened. "Are you going to crash the taxi too?" she asked.
He pursed his lips and did not answer.
He hit Waverly's car because he clearly knew the durability of the car.
Even if Waverly's car got hit, she would be left unharmed.
However, that scrap metal-like taxi was different. If he hit it, it was estimated that no one in that car would see the light of day tomorrow.
He decided not to run into it but quickly drove past the taxi instead.
Yasmine looked back at the taxi and said triumphantly, "Where are we going to eat dinner today?"
"I've already made a reservation at Celestial Aroma Restaurant. Haven't you always wanted to have dinner there? I've already bought it," Joseph said with a smile. There was no trace of happiness in his eyes. He turned his gaze back to the rearview mirror, but he could no longer see the taxi Waverly was in.
"You're too kind to me. Well, do you have any other arrangements in the evening?" Yasmine said happily.
"Let's watch a movie together. Then, I'll send you back," Joseph answered.
Yasmine stopped smiling and hinted, "It's okay for me to not go back tonight."
"We can't do that. Madam Lenny will get back at me tomorrow if I do that," Joseph refused immediately.
"We'll be married soon anyway. My mother is very open-minded, so she won't have any objections," she insisted.
Joseph looked at her with a dark expression, "Do you want to give me your first time?"
Yasmine nodded.
He smiled and said, "You're a good girl, so I want to save your first time until the day of our wedding."
Yasmine heard Joseph's rejection laced in his tone, but his words seemed to melt her heart into honey. "I just want to be with you," she insisted.
"Well, do you want to feel better?" Joseph asked.
Yasmine nodded without hesitation.
The corner of his mouth quirked up and a glint shone faintly in his eyes.
Waverly went back to the Mccarthy mansion.
The guards denied the entrance of the taxi that she was in.
She walked to the lakeside hut.
Her cell phone rang. Bobe was calling her.
She answered immediately.
"I've already found his address. I'll send it to you now. In addition, he has just returned from Y Country and has made an appointment with some friends later at night. He's eating in the Celestial Aroma Restaurant," Bobe relayed the results of his investigation.
"Are there any of your friends among his friends?" Waverly asked.
"There's two," he replied.
"Tell your friends to go for another round of karaoke after dinner. Make sure that Yazoo goes too. Then, call me to go there," Waverly ordered.
Bobe laughed, "What, have you taken a fancy to Yazoo? You want him?"
She was not interested in Yazoo but just wanted to know more about his situation. Moreover, if possible, she wanted the protection of the Moore Family. She insisted, "You're the only one who can help me with this."
"Okay, I got it. I'll inform you when to come tonight," Bobe replied.
"Thank you," Waverly said and hung up the phone.
She walked towards the small courtyard by the lake.
Hayley was playing with the dogs when she saw Waverly coming back. She picked up the dog in her arms and ran towards her. She asked, "Why did you come in by foot, Madam?"
"There was a little problem with the car," Waverly avoided the heavy topic as she did not want Hayley to worry.
"You're not going on the blind date tonight?" Hayley asked with hope in her tone.
She was reluctant to let Waverly to go on the blind date. In her heart, she wanted Waverly and Bellamy to stay together.
Waverly nodded, "He had something to deal with so he won't be coming."
"That's great!" Hayley jumped up ecstatically. "I'll go cook first. Let's eat at home."
Waverly knew that Hayley was naïve so she no longer paid her much attention.
She still had something to consult Bellamy about, but she was also afraid that she would delay his work. Thus, she sent him a message first, "Do you have time? I have something to ask for your advice."
"Give me five minutes," Bellamy immediately replied.
Waverly went back to her room, walked into the bathroom and looked at herself in the mirror.
The makeup on her face was incredibly exquisite as if she was wearing a mask, one that had accompanied her for a very, very long time.
She came out of the bathroom and changed into a dress for clubbing. Her back was exposed, so she wore a gray windbreaker on the outside. Inside the pocket of the windbreaker was the Thunder Gun that Joseph had given her previously.
Her cell phone rang.
She saw that it was Bellamy's video call. She took a deep breath and answered it.
Bellamy was in the kitchen, wearing his coffee-colored sweater. He looked mature and composed.
She was obviously familiar with him, yet she felt as if there was a wall between them.
"Are you going out tonight?" Bellamy asked.
Waverly nodded, "I'm going to leave soon. I have something to deal with. Bellamy, I went to work at the Ministry of External Affairs this afternoon."
"Have you gotten used to the environment?" Bellamy asked in a gentle voice.
Waverly smiled, "I have. After all, I was taught by you. I can survive. The circumstances at the Ministry of External Affairs are relatively simple. Do you think I can cope with it easily?"
Bellamy chuckled, "I believe in you. Your learning capabilities are undoubtedly strong. What would you like to ask me for guidance?"
"Do you know Madam Lenny?" Waverly said.
"I do. She's an expert in diplomacy and has solved a lot of critical problems. She's extremely famous internationally and she's also quite capable."
"She came to me today and gave me a project. It has nothing to do with the Ministry of External Affairs, but about biopharmaceuticals. She wanted me to register a company under my name and help her buy some raw ingredients. She has a market for the products too. To be honest, I'm worried that it's a trap. Joseph is going to marry her daughter, Yasmine. I don't know how much she knows about you and Joseph," Waverly relayed, dismay lacing her voice.
"She probably knows a lot about us. Even if Joseph didn't tell her anything, with her intelligence and wisdom, she could still know a lot. Otherwise, she would've married her daughter to the Harington family instead of the Mccarthy family."
"So, the probability of her framing me is more than that of testing me?" Waverly guessed.
"In short, she put out a fishing net and you are the fish to get caught. Once you enter it, you are bound to be in her control. However, it's not impossible for you to escape. It depends on whether you can find an exit or not," he explained.
Waverly listened seriously. She nodded her head and agreed with his statement.
He truly was her pillar.
