Chapter 938 Can’t Save Everything

Waverly wanted to have a good sleep so that she would not have a headache when she wakes up. By then, she could join the rescue team immediately.
She forced herself to sleep, but her mind was plagued with worry.
She was afraid that Bellamy would be in danger. If Bellamy were to die, would there be any need for her to keep on going?
She... didn't even get to spend the night with him. Waverly felt very aggrieved and troubled.
Turbulent emotions tumbled in her mind and she couldn't sleep at all.
She got up and went out of the room. She saw Rory resting outside. She asked, "Rory, do you have any sleeping pills?"
Rory looked at her and reminded her, "It's best to not take any sleeping pills on the plane. If you stop moving for a long time, your blood flow will slow down. If you don't drink enough water, your body will become dehydrated. The temperature on the plane is low, and the slower blood flow in your arteries and veins of your lower limbs may form blood clots. They might break off and enter the pulmonary artery, thereby causing artery infarction. You could listen to some soothing music if you can't fall asleep. When you wake up, remember to drink water and walk around a little."
Waverly sighed and returned to her room. She sat on the bed and she could feel her ears hurting. It seemed that they were blocked, hence she could not hear clearly.
She lay on the bed for a long time, but she still couldn't fall asleep. She looked out of the window and wondered if Bellamy was alright.
The anxiety was killing her.
She stepped out of the room again and asked Rory, "If you do have sleeping pills, could you please give me two of them?"
"Perhaps we should have one for now. In four hours, I'll wake you up to have some water," Rory said politely.
"Thank you."
Waverly took the sleeping pills and finally fell asleep.
Thirteen hours had passed when she arrived in Z Country. It was 12.10 p.m. and her phone was buzzing incessantly with messages the moment she landed.
Joseph had called her 83 times. There were also missed calls from unknown numbers, twelve of which were from Bellamy.
Waverly immediately returned Bellamy's call. It took three rings before Bellamy picked up.
"Bellamy, where are you now?" Waverly asked worriedly.
"Stop fooling around. Go back quickly and stay in M Country. I will solve the problem by myself," Bellamy said angrily. His tone was very cold, even colder than the time she asked for a divorce in her live broadcast last time.
"I'm already here. Calm down and listen to me first, Bellamy. No one knew about me coming over except you. I couldn't possibly let anything happen to you. My people will pick me up in 35 hours. I have to meet you before that," Waverly said calmly.
"Stay where you are and send me your location. I'll come over immediately. You should leave right away if I don't show up." Bellamy was firm.
"Where are you now? I'll pick you up."
"Send the address to my mobile phone. I have to turn it off in three minutes." Bellamy hung up the phone before Waverly could say anything else.
She could hear an explosion on the other end of the line before the line went dead.
The sound echoed in her heart, ripping it apart to pieces.
She sent the address to Bellamy and said to Rory, "Stay here and look out for Bellamy. After 35 hours, if he's here but I'm not, escort him back to A Country. If we both don't show up, then go home without us."
Rory admired Waverly. She was a very brave woman, and there were not many men who had her courage.
"Are you going to seek out the President of A Country? Do you know where to find him?" Rory asked with concern.
"I could go to A Country's embassy. If he's not there, we could always look around more. It's better than staying here and waiting dumbly. That would be a waste of my effort on coming all the way here." Waverly said as she got in the car. After that, she prepared her guns and rations.
She didn't like killing. However, for Bellamy's sake, she was willing to do anything.
"Madam, Seth and I will go with you. We will be back in 35 hours," Rory said as he got into the car with his weapon.
The logo of M Country was displayed on the car.
M Country was a neutral party, and the presence of a diplomatic envoy meant that not all hope was lost. Waverly hoped that the flag could take her to Bellamy safely and bring him home.
If she couldn't bring him back safely, she would rather die with him.
Along the way, they saw those who had suffered because of the war. Their faces were filled with turmoil and despair, and there was not an ounce of happiness.
She looked away sadly.
All of a sudden, a loud bang was heard. A bomb had exploded on the ground 100 meters behind her. People were running everywhere, and an innocent little girl stood in the middle of the road, crying in fear.
"Stop the car," Waverly shouted.
Rory looked at Waverly and said, "It's too dangerous to stop now. People die every day. You may save one person today, but you can't save all of them. Besides, you wouldn't be able to save anyone if you yourself are in danger, yes?"
Waverly looked at the child's innocent and panicking eyes.
Where were her parents? Why didn't they save her? Did they abandon her because they were in danger?
"I couldn't possibly ignore it now that I've seen it, yes? Stay in the car, and run away quickly if there's any danger. I'll save her," Waverly said firmly. She got out of the car, ran to the little girl, and carried her over.
The little girl looked at Waverly in confusion and fear.
Waverly spoke in fluent Z Country's language, "Don't be afraid. I'm here to save you. I'll take you to your parents once the situation gets better."
The girl did not speak, but she held on to Waverly tightly.
Waverly placed her in the back of the car and gave her a piece of bread.
The girl took the bread and whispered, "Thank you."
Waverly smiled, unscrewed a bottle of water, and handed it to the little girl, "Drink some water. Don't choke on the bread. Let's go. I'll bring you back here once it gets better here."
The little girl looked at Waverly in hesitation and said, "My home is not here. My mother and I were captured, and she was murdered. However, I escaped."
"Where's your father?" Waverly asked worriedly.
"I don't know."
"Where is your home?" Waverly asked again.
The girl shook her head, "I don't know, either."
Tears welled up in her eyes.
Waverly contemplated adopting the child if she was without family. However, Waverly knew that for that to happen, she, too, must survive.
She rubbed the little girl's head and said, "God will protect you, and you'll be safe and happy from now on."
The little girl nodded and took the initiative to hug Waverly.
The car continued to move forward and soon arrived at the door of A Country's Embassy. A fierce fight had just broken out there...
