Chapter 802 She Only Felt At Ease When He Returned
Stella smiled and replied, "I know. I will sleep well and wait for you to come back."
"Alright."
After that, Stella went to the kitchen to prepare dinner while Jasper had a meeting in the study room.
It was originally calm as there was no one around. However, all of a sudden, eight other people and Elvis turned up and went to the study room.
She would have to prepare more food for everyone else.
She went to get more pork chops. She also prepared some salad, garlic bread, and seafood chowder. She was worried that there was not enough for everyone. Therefore, she also prepared some mashed potatoes and spaghetti.
It was half-past seven when she was finally done with dinner preparation, but Jasper was still in the meeting.
She went upstairs and knocked at the door.
"Come in, please," Jasper answered in a deep voice.
Stella paused for a moment. His voice seemed to touch her heart. She could feel her heart beating faster.
The scene seemed familiar. It was a very familiar feeling.
She pushed the door open and saw Jasper standing in front of everyone, discussing strategies.
Dressed in a black suit, his gaze was originally cold and sharp. However, his gaze turned tender when he looked toward her.
"You guys should eat first. You will need to fill your stomach first for energy before you head out for the mission. You may resume the meeting after you have dinner," Stella said softly.
"Okay," Jasper replied and walked toward Stella.
The others then got up and headed toward the dining area.
"I've prepared dinner for all of you. Let's eat together," Stella said.
The others looked toward Jasper.
Jasper nodded.
The soldiers laughed and said, "It has been a long time since I've had a meal made by Mrs. Milton. I miss your cooking so much."
When Stella heard the soldiers, it meant that she had cooked for them previously.
"I have made some spaghetti too." Stella said, "Wait a minute."
Stella brought out some spaghetti and said, "I've made a quite bit and I will make more if this is not enough."
"Thank you, Mrs. Milton," Elvis said.
They sat down and started eating.
Stella looked at the simple and honest-looking soldiers. That scene looked really familiar to her too.
Jasper and the soldiers resumed their meeting after dinner. Stella went to the kitchen to clean up.
They left at ten sharp that night.
Jasper turned around and took a glance at Stella. She smiled and waved at him.
After they left, she played some elegant music, lit up an aromatherapy candle while she had her yoga. She then took a shower and went to bed.
She knew that she should get some sleep, but she was still worried about him. She feared that something would happen to him.
As time went by, she just could not fall asleep even though she kept her eyes closed,
As she was unable to sleep, she got up from the bed and opened the curtains. Standing by the window, she looked outside and waited quietly.
She glanced at the clock when the sky was beginning to lighten. It was already five past five in the morning, but Jasper had yet to return.
Her heart was twisted as he had not returned. She waited until six in the morning. It was already dawn, but Jasper still had not returned.
She went to prepare breakfast. She prepared some sausages and eggs, watered the flowers, and fed Gracie.
The sun had risen, but Jasper still hadn't returned.
She could feel pain in her chest.
Suddenly, she heard the sound of a car outside. She immediately put down the watering can and ran toward the door.
She opened the door and found Jasper standing right in front of her. The sunlight behind him seemed to give him a golden glow.
He smiled gently at her.
Stella threw herself into his arms and held him tightly.
He was completely wet from his sweat. His clothes smelled of smoke and gunpowder, with a touch of sunshine.
Jasper also hugged her too. Lowering his head, he planted a kiss on her forehead.
Stella looked at Jasper and asked, "Did everything go well?"
"Everything went smoothly. Sowter has been completely eliminated," Jasper replied with a smile.
"So you have settled your debt with the mission?" Stella asked, looking hopeful.
"Yes," Jasper replied, "I am late because three of my men were injured."
"Are their injuries serious?" Stella asked worriedly.
"It's not life-threatening. They just need to rest for a month or two. I've already made all the arrangements."
"Is he being treated at the research center?"
"Yes. That place is a brain research center on the surface. However, in reality, it is actually one of my secret bases," Jasper explained.
"Has Sowter been completely eliminated then?" Stella asked with concern.
"Yes, it has been completely eliminated. There should be news in the morning and their scandals will be reported. However, in order to avoid any trouble, some of the government's related information will be filtered out," Jasper replied.
Stella nodded and asked, "Have all of your soldiers eaten?"
"They had before they left. Now they're resting at the base."
"Have you eaten too?" Stella asked.
Jasper shook his head.
He knew that she would definitely prepare breakfast for him.
He wanted to be home and have breakfast with her.
"I have prepared sausages and eggs," Stella said with a smile.
"Okay," Jasper entered and asked, "Did you sleep well last night?"
Stella paused upon hearing that question.
She did not sleep at all the night before. However, he would be worried if she were to tell him that. He would not be able to complete it well if he was given similar missions in the future.
Therefore, she chose to tell a white lie.
"It's okay, but I got up relatively early. Hurry up and have some breakfast before going to bed. I'll go and get you some food," Stella went into the kitchen.
"I have already completed my mission here. I'll tell Vann today that we're going to leave. Do you have any more patients to see?" Jasper asked.
He was already preparing to return to his home country.
"I've already seen all the patients here. I won't see any other patients for the time being. Micheal will be here on Monday. I'll pass everything over to him. If everything goes well, we should be able to leave on Tuesday. Please ask your mother not to come over since we've decided to go back. It's also very tiring for her to catch the plane, especially with a child. What do you think?"
"Okay. I'll call them when I wake up later," Jasper replied.
Stella noticed that he hadn't slept for two consecutive nights. He had only slept for a few hours the afternoon before. She did not say much as she would wait after he had some sleep.
After breakfast, Jasper looked at Stella, his gaze grew deeper when he looked into her eyes.
He was able to tell whether she slept, and whether she slept well the night before.
"I will try not to take a night mission in the future. You should sleep with me for a while later," Jasper said in a deep voice.
Stella smiled slightly and replied, "Okay."
Before going to bed, Jasper was worried that Vann would call Stella, hence affecting her sleep.
Hence, he turned off their cell phones and drew the curtains.
Stella fell asleep as soon as she got into bed.
She only felt at ease when he finally returned…
