Chapter 1078 There’s No ‘What If’
Stella was shocked into silence.
"What do you think will happen if I tell Bellamy these?" Waverly asked.
"You were forced to," Stella finally said after a moment.
Waverly leaned against the chair and looked up at the ceiling. She paused for a minute before saying, "I can't differentiate it anymore. It seems that I'm also relying on his authority rights. Maybe in the future, I will still rely on his authority to live and achieve my goals."
"Waverly," Stella exclaimed. After that, she didn't know what to say.
The direction where the conversation was headed had taken an unexpected turn.
She hadn't thought of these things.
Waverly wiped the tears from her eyes and drank the beer in her glass.
"Do you still like Bellamy?" Stella suddenly asked.
"Ever since I was young, I never understood love, nor do I know what love is. The same goes with Lenold. I thought he loved me, but he betrayed me and got together with my aunt. They even got married. I thought Bernald only regarded me as his younger sister, but he died because of me. I also thought that Bellamy might have the same feelings for me, but I was still wrong. Everything was just in my head," replied Waverly.
Stella said, "Some people love deeply and some love is fleeting. Some love silently and some love complicatedly. But most people love simply. They don't talk about it nor announce it on a daily basis, but that doesn't mean they don't love each other anymore. Love can be making an effort to live the best life together. Love can be in the form of caring for each other. It could be when you are having a bad day and he is willing to lend an ear to your problems, or when you are sick in bed and he is by your side taking care of you. Love can be when you returned from work and he had prepared dinner for you or when you've forgotten something and he was willing to go the extra mile to get it for you. Most love is unseen, but that doesn't mean that it's not there. That's why, Waverly, it's a blessing to be able to love. Don't give up. You are doing well."
Waverly sighed. "Loving a person is too hard. I have been lonely ever since I was a child. I am afraid of loneliness. After being with Bellamy, for the first time in my life, I feel that I am not alone anymore. However, now I think that as long as I can get used to loneliness, I will be stronger."
"Talk to Bellamy. You are in a bad condition now. If you go on like this, you will eventually destroy yourself. He will help you and get you out of it. As long as you want, I can help you too."
"I called you and told you the shame that was buried in my heart. I think I should give up. Bellamy will listen to you. If you really want to help me, then you guys should distance yourselves from my life forever. Bellamy shouldn't attempt to search for me anymore and don't say that you wanted to bring me home. I can't come back. I will hang up now. I will be leaving in the afternoon. Thank you, Stella. Take care." After saying that, Waverly hung up the phone before Stella could speak.
She then gulped the last few mouthfuls of beer.
At this moment, Hayley pushed the door open and rushed in. While panting, she sat in front of Waverly and said, "Madam, why didn't you answer the phone? The president is very worried about you."
Waverly smiled and said, "Hayley, stay in A Country and don't go back with me."
Hayley was shocked. "Why? What's wrong?"
"Listen to me. It's better for you to stay here," Waverly uttered softly.
"No. I'll definitely go with you," Hayley said resolutely.
"Let's eat first. I'm sure you didn't have a good meal by yourself earlier."
Hayley looked at Waverly pitifully and muttered, "Madam, you're scaring me."
"I'm not scaring you." Then, Waverly's cell phone rang. It was Bellamy. She answered the phone.
"Waverly, where are you?"
Listening to his familiar voice and tone, Waverly's heart was instantly filled with bitterness. She forced a smile and replied, "I'm eating. Have you eaten?"
"Something happened, but fortunately, everything's fine. The news on TV was all exaggerated. It's not that serious, and I've handled them," Bellamy said.
"Okay," Waverly answered flatly and didn't say anything after that.
"I asked Yasmine and she said she would stay here for a few more days. I'm in the hospital now. I miss your cooking very much. Are you free tonight?"
"I don't think I'm free. I still have other things to do," Waverly rejected.
Bellamy was quiet for a moment. He then said, "I'll send someone to pick you up right now. Let's have a chat."
"No!" Waverly cried out. "Thank you for what you have done for me. I am very grateful, but let's end it here. If you do any more, I will feel burdened."
"Are you blaming me?"
"You have your reasons for doing things. I also believe that the choices you make are definitely right. Hence, there is no reason for me to blame you. I have a lot of problems, and there are too many of them. I want to deal with them by myself," Waverly replied gently.
"I feel very uncomfortable to see you in this state," Bellamy said. It was as if his heart had been entangled with poisonous vines. The sharp thorns pierced into his heart, making him feel a hundred times more painful than a poisonous snake's bite. He was unable to breathe.
"I'm sorry, but I can't satisfy everyone's request. I'll hang up first," Waverly said. She had made up her mind that she didn't want to talk to him anymore.
"Stay where you are," Bellamy said hurriedly. Then, he hung up the phone and said to the attending doctor standing beside him, "I need to head out."
The attending doctor opposed and said, "Mr. President, with your current condition, you'd better stay in bed. Moving around will increase blood circulation, and it will be too late if the residual poison flows into your heart."
Bellamy's expression turned grave. He insisted and ordered sombrely, "I want to go out now. Go and arrange it for me right now."
"Mr. President..."
Bellamy suddenly pulled out the infusion drip and got off the bed.
The doctor was startled and said, "Okay, okay. Please wait for a moment."
"How long?" Bellamy questioned impatiently.
"Half an hour."
Bellamy immediately stood up.
"Ten minutes," the doctor hastily corrected himself.
Only then did Bellamy lie on the bed again and hang the IV drip. After thinking for a while, he made a phone call.
"Bellamy, how are you feeling now? I'm almost there," Jasper said worriedly.
"Jasper, if anything were to happen to me, promise me that you'll take over my position," Bellamy requested.
Jasper did not speak.
"Once Beckham gets the position, the first person he'll deal with is you." Bellamy reminded him, "You should at least think about Stella and your child."
"You will be fine," Jasper said.
"I mean just in case. What if..."
"There's no 'what if'," Jasper interrupted Bellamy.
Bellamy was annoyed. He pinched the bridge of his nose and said, "I know. I'll hang up now."
He promptly hung up the phone afterwards.
Time ticked by slowly.
"Mr. President, Miss Filthy of M Country requested to see you," the sergeant reported.
"Let her in," Bellamy instructed in a low voice.
