Chapter 1077 I Think It’s Time To Settle It
"I'm fine." Waverly said, "I'm going home in the afternoon, so I'm just calling to say goodbye to you. Also, I've scolded you before. I'm sorry for that. I was emotional at that time, and I judged you without much thought. It was wrong of me."
"It's okay. I like your personality very much. You were also being reasonable. Sometimes, I make decisions on impulse. Thank you for pointing it out to me," Stella replied with a smile.
"Thank you," Waverly said softly.
"We all hope that you can come back permanently. I believe that soon, you will be able to return openly without anything to hide. We will be so happy when that time comes. Please hold on for now. The situation will get better eventually," Stella comforted her.
Waverly smiled at her words, and tears filled her eyes once again.
She closed her eyes and her tears started trickling down her face.
"I don't have a place here anymore." Her voice cracked as she spoke. When she took a deep breath, she felt a lot more helpless. Nevertheless, she managed to calm herself down.
"In the past, I have lived for others and although I was happy to do so, I realized that I am not necessarily what they wanted. And it hurts to know that I can't do anything about it," Waverly whispered and then slowly opened her eyes.
"Don't wait for me to come back. I will feel guilty and regretful. From today onward, I will start living for myself. Your affairs have nothing to do with me anymore, and my life and death have nothing to do with you either," Waverly continued.
Stella sensed something was not right. "Waverly, what happened to you?"
"I like Bellamy. I have no idea when I started feeling so about him, but whenever he's happy, I would feel happy too. Whenever he's upset, I would feel frustrated as well. When I see him unable to get what he wants from you, I share his sadness. These emotions had long pressured me. One year, two years, five years... Until today, I don't dare to say it out loud. I'm afraid to tell him, and even more afraid to bear the consequences of it."
"Waverly, you're wrong. You're the one who Bellamy likes," Stella said.
"Me?" Waverly laughed incredulously. "I once stood naked in front of him. He didn't touch me. I have tried it not for one but three times. I gave him so many hints. I didn't feel ashamed nor cared about my pride. Yet, he still pushed me away every single time. I told him that I had a man who I liked and he believed it without a question. I don't know if he really believed it, or he was just playing dumb," Waverly spoke while feeling a little agitated.
"He just doesn't want to hurt you. He's much older than you, and he thinks you have a better choice. He doesn't see his feelings clearly. He does like you, so he's also working hard and wants you to come back."
Waverly felt very sad nevertheless. She replied, "So, from the very beginning, he didn't plan to have a life with me. Instead, he was waiting and counting to the day that I would leave."
It really hurt. It was so painful that she could hardly breathe.
She patted her chest, suppressing her emotions and started crying.
She sobbed so hard that Stella felt utterly distressed.
"He has now realized how important you are to him. He told me that he wanted you to and stay," said Stella.
"He told you that he wanted me to return? Stella, if it was Jasper who had a trusted confidant like you whom he had once loved dearly and always cherished, how would you feel?"
After asking this question, Waverly let out a breath as if all energy had been sucked out from her body. Her agitated mood gradually returned to normal.
"It's my fault. I'm sorry. I've been too involved in the affair. I will take note of my mistake. In the future, even if I have something to discuss with him, I will never do it behind your back," Stella promised.
"I sound unreasonable and childish. Come to think of it, I think you will understand the last negotiation better than I do," Waverly responded.
Stella understood what Waverly meant. They were supposed to wait for Waverly's arrival before the negotiation could take place, but alas, they still fell into the trap and had gone through with the negotiation before Waverly's arrival.
If the tables had turned and she was in Waverly position, she would feel betrayed too. Besides, she had experienced it before, so she understood how Waverly felt.
"I'm sorry, Waverly. You've been wrongfully accused," Stella apologized.
"Why are you apologizing? It's not your fault. Is it because of Bellamy? After all, you're the most important person to him, so you can make the decision on his behalf and also apologize to others on his behalf. When it comes to the both of you, I'm just an outsider."
Stella realized her own problem and quickly said, "It's not like that, Waverly. I'm saying sorry not because of Bellamy. It's because I feel sorry for you. I'm telling the truth."
"Then just feel sorry for me. You don't need to say sorry, Stella. Many things are fated to happen, and I can't change them no matter how hard I try. I don't blame you, and I forgive you. So, you don't have to feel sorry and guilty."
"Where are you now? Let's meet," Stella suddenly said.
Waverly took a deep breath before replying, "No. I've been hesitating for a long time on whether I should call you. You've been in Bellamy's heart for five years, and you've also been in mine for five years. Compared to jealousy, my feelings toward you are more of respect and admiration. Nonetheless, I'm very lucky. I was initially just a plain individual and yet, I had the opportunity to come to know you. God is good to me."
Stella said, "No. Unlike me, you have the courage to love, hate and express all your emotions. I think that is very good and you're far better than me. I am the one who has many problems. I have a mental illness, and I can't control it. I'm unreasonable, agitated, and have self-mutilation. I can only hypnotize myself because I am too weak and always keep to myself. You are better than me, so don't belittle yourself."
Waverly took out a tissue and dried her tears, saying, "You are amazing. After talking to you, I feel much more relieved. Thank you, Stella."
"Waverly, don't give up, okay? Bellamy has no one else but you," Stella added softly.
"I heard that you had a divorce before you married Jasper," Waverly said. "How is it going between you and that man?"
Stella became silent. As a psychologist, Waverly probably already saw through Stella's thoughts.
"It's okay if you don't feel like telling me about it."
Stella spoke, "He had already left the country. Regarding his whereabouts, I don't know about it either. We don't contact each other anymore."
Waverly smiled. "Bellamy and I will end up just like you and your ex-husband, right?"
Stella didn't say anything. She hoped that Waverly would be together with Bellamy.
However, if she were in Waverly's shoes, she would also feel sad and aggrieved by the things Bellamy had done this time.
"There are some issues with the way he handles things. You should talk to him..."
"I have slept with someone else," Waverly abruptly interrupted Stella's words.
Stella immediately fell silent.
"I have slept with him many times. I don't know when this kind of life will end, but it will be long before he gets tired of me. Also, after he gets tired of me, I don't know how long I can still live," Waverly continued speaking calmly.
