Chapter 969 Your Heart Is Blind

Waverly turned away, "I don't think so."
"Now, you can try to turn on the lights," the doctor announced.
"Okay," Joseph waved his hand to instruct his men to switch on the light.
The subordinate flipped the switch on obediently.
All of a sudden, light shot through every corner of her eyes. Someone blew out the candle in the room.
Only then did she notice that the curtains were closed. She could also see the streaks of blood on Joseph's clothes and the blood stains on the bedsheet.
"You really lack self-control," she said sarcastically.
"Why should I restrain myself?" Joseph took a seat and propped his legs on the table. He continued to speak in a laid-back manner, "Restraint is reserved for those who are trying to succeed. I, on the other hand, have already succeeded."
"Don't get ahead of yourself before you actually get there," she said bluntly.
He looked at her coldly as the corners of his mouth curled into an evil smile, "Isn't it your dream to see me fail?"
"But do you intend to let me see that happen, or do you not?" She shot back a question in response to his.
He stood up after listening to this.
As if it was a reflex, Waverly also stood up and held her guard against him.
With one hand in his pocket, he walked up to her. His eyes were so dark that no one could tell his emotions hidden under, "Don't worry. If I lose my life, I'll definitely take you along with me."
"Then I'll be losing out on my end. The fortune tellers have said that I'll live a longer life than yours."
"The fortune teller also said that you'll marry me. So, will you marry me?" He shot back with a smile. However, his eyes said otherwise.
"That's not necessarily true. If you propose to me now, I'll marry you immediately," she said quietly and raised her smile in the same way he did.
Joseph's eyes swept over her in a fierce manner. Then, he lowered his head and smothered her with his lips.
She retreated right away.
Surprisingly, he didn't force her to comply, "Come here and clean my wounds."
After saying this, he laid down on her bed right away.
The doctor swept back the curtains, allowing sunlight to shine in through the window. Based on the direction of the light, Waverly guessed that it should be about three o'clock.
"Don't you need to go to work today?" She frowned and asked.
"Sometimes I need a medical leave as well, or do you think I'm indestructible?" He teased.
She took the scissors from the doctor as a murderous look flashed across her eyes.
If she killed Joseph with one stab at that moment, all of this would come to an end.
Without Joseph's existence, Bellamy could be at ease.
It was unclear whether Joshua sensed something amiss, but he stayed by her side as a precaution.
She picked up the scissors and aimed for Joseph's back.
At this moment, Joshua grabbed her hand.
She swept her eyes over him and asked, "How am I supposed to cut the bandages for him if you hold my hand? Or do you want to do it instead?"
Joshua was worried and refused to let go.
Joseph sneered and said with certainty, "Let her cut it. Even if she stabs me, she wouldn't be able to kill me. However, there won't be a second chance."
Joshua thought about it and he had to agree with his words, so he finally let go of her hand.
Gathering her thoughts, Waverly did her best to relax. It was clear that Joseph's words were a warning to her.
With trembling hands, she undressed him and spotted the wound on his back. Judging by the scar, the whip used on him wasn't any ordinary whip. The wound showed numerous tracks that were in the shape of nails.
She frowned, "Did your father beat you?"
Joseph looked at her disdainfully and his eyes were a little more charming. The corner of his mouth was lifted. There was some joy flowing in his eyes, "Does your heart ache for me?"
She remained emotionless, "You really are your father's son. You're cold-blooded and ruthless too. If he does this to his own son, what about other people?"
He raised his eyebrows and didn't reply to her. He just continued to lay quietly on the bed.
Looking at the wound on his back, Waverly suddenly felt pity for him.
He probably received an equally minimal amount of parental love as she did.
Squeezing some ointment onto her fingers, she proceeded to apply it on his back, "I didn't expect that you'd be such an obedient son. You put on such a brazen image to the public. Yet when you return home, you become a docile dog."
He gripped her hand all of the sudden. His face was pale and his head was covered in drips of sweat. Locking his gaze with hers, he warned, "Your life may end faster if you talk too much."
"I actually have a lot of constructive criticism for you. Are you interested in knowing what they are?" She stared back into his eyes, fearing nothing.
"Spit it out." He enunciated word for word.
She pursed her lips and didn't say anything.
He frowned and said, "Miss Martell, why don't you just say it? Words like these feel like a band-aid being ripped out."
He swept his gaze over to Joshua and ordered, "Get out."
"Sir, I..."
"Didn't you hear me when I told you to get out?" Joseph bellowed with bloodshot eyes.
Joshua had no choice but to leave, not forgetting to pick up the pair of scissors on his way out.
With his grip still on her hand, Joseph grabbed onto the back of her head with the other hand and pressed his lips against hers. Then, he proceeded to push her down on the bed.
"Madam!" Hayley called out in concern.
Waverly struggled. She didn't want to have s*x with him in front of somebody else; she'd rather die than do that. "Joseph, let go of me. Joseph!"
Thankfully, he stopped kissing her. However, he continued to press her down against the bed. He commanded, "Apply the medication for me."
"If you let go of me, I will." She frowned, struggling to sit up.
However, he continued to press her down with his body.
"I'm not talking about you," he barked back in reply.
The doctors knew that he was referring to them, so they immediately went forward to apply the ointment on his wound.
Pursing his lips tightly, he continued to pin Waverly under his body. The blue veins on his forehead throbbed under the light while his eyes became even more bloodshot.
Waverly was terrified of Joseph when he was like this. He looked as if he had risen from the dead and brought all the death and vengeance from hell with him.
What happened that day was all her fault. She did intend to ruin his parent-son relationship, but this didn't sit well with her. Instead, she felt bad.
Initially, she thought she was willing to do anything to achieve her objectives. She thought she'd be shameless, cold-blooded and ruthless. However....
The blood that was flowing through her was still not of the Mccarthy family. With all these thoughts running through her mind, she turned her face away from him.
"Why are you scared of looking at me?" He asked.
"The view's too good, I don't dare to," she replied sarcastically.
Inching in closer, there was a sinister look in his eyes, "I don't get it. Your existence is as insignificant as an ant's, yet you want to protect Bellamy?"
She pursed her lips and stared at him. The trace of pity she had for him dissipated instantly.
She hated the feeling of being controlled by him.
With her still pinned under his body, Joseph remained silent. Even after the doctor was done applying the ointment, he continued to remain silent.
The others looked at each other in dismay.
Watching this scene unfold in front of her, Hayley stomped her feet anxiously and said furiously, "Stop bullying her! Her eyes just healed!"
"The only thing that was blind before was your heart!" Joseph said ferociously.
Hearing this, Waverly bit down on his shoulder.
He pressed his lips together and didn't say a word, allowing her to bite him.
The taste of blood flowed into her mouth and entered her body as it flowed down her throat.
Loosening her bite on him, there were still streaks of his blood on the corner of her mouth. She looked at him, feeling equally speechless.
She was ready to be beaten by him, but he didn't do anything. He merely stared at her...
