Chapter 852 Whoever Dares To Laugh At You, Will Die
"It's because you had nothing. I said those words because I was worried that you would continue to pester me," Eli found an excuse.
"You didn't fall in love with me when I was the President. I'm sure that you aren't someone who values money and status," Sean said firmly.
"You have a wife. I can't possibly fall in love with you."
"I don't have a wife, and I'm rich and powerful now, so you should fall in love with me, yes?" Sean said enigmatically as he examined Eli's expression.
His words made sense. It seemed that she had just dug herself a hole.
Eli was silent for fifteen seconds. Sean gave her time to think it through.
"... Don't you think that my heart hurt whenever you torture me like that?" Eli rejected him euphemistically.
"Your heart hurts?" Sean said as he fixed his gaze on her.
No, she shouldn't have put it that way. If she told him that, wouldn't that mean that she still loved him?
She made a mistake as she was nervous.
"I'm saying that I won't like you since you treated me badly, alright?" Eli explained.
"What if I treat you better then?" Sean asked Eli in return.
"I'm hungry. I want to eat something," Eli said, trying to change the subject. She was getting even more anxious.
"Okay," Sean answered, "Rest here. I'll ask them to prepare breakfast and send it over."
He made a phone call and ordered them to prepare breakfast and send it to the room. However, he stayed in the room and merely stared at her.
Eli grew uneasy. She lowered her head with her mind in a mess. She was living her life day to day without a plan. She could never figure out what Sean was planning to do.
"By the way, where is Hodge?" Eli asked all of a sudden.
"He is currently on a mission. It will take at least a month before he comes back. Why do you ask?" Sean asked suspiciously.
"I was just asking. I'm getting up now," Eli said as she got out of his bed, However, she noticed that Sean was staring at her yet again.
"Where's your girlfriend?" Eli asked, changing the topic.
"I sent her back yesterday," Sean replied.
"She's quite pretty."
"She's prettier than you," Sean said bluntly.
Eli was a little annoyed. Must he be that arrogant even though he had found such a beautiful girlfriend?
He really knew how to irritate her.
However, she refused to let him provoke her.
Eli smiled. "I wish both of you a hundred years of harmony, forever connected at hearts. Do give birth to a son soon and live happily together."
Sean said unhappily, "I'm afraid that I will not be able to make your wish come true. We will go to the Civil Administration Bureau and register our marriage after breakfast. Also, Eli Wayne no longer exists in this world. My name is Alastair Yaleman now, and your name will be Cassie Wayne."
Eli sneered. "What's the point of getting married with fake identities?"
"Ah, right. That reminds me, let's use our real ID cards to register for the marriage then. Sean Yaleman and Eli Wayne will get married today," Sean said seriously.
Eli was surprised. Her mind was in a whirlwind.
She felt that the more she spoke, the more mistakes she would make.
The people of A Country would definitely be enraged if he were to marry her as Sean Yaleman. There would be another bloody storm in the future.
"Let's use our fake identities to get married then, Alastair Yaleman and Cassie Wayne," Eli said worriedly.
"So, does that mean that you're willing to marry me?" Sean's lips curled into a smile.
Eli for at a loss for words.
She wasn't smart before. She didn't expect that she would become dumber as she grew older. She had lost track of her thoughts after being led around by Sean.
"People laugh at me when they see that I have no arms," Eli found an excuse to change his mind.
"I will kill those who dare to laugh at you," he said with a piercing intensity in his eyes.
"Are you going to kill them just because they laughed at me? That's a bit too much."
Sean softened his voice and asked helplessly, "What would you have me do then? I'll do whatever you say."
"You really are funny. Everything will be fine after we go back," Eli said indifferently.
The corner of Sean's lips was slightly raised. He said, "Alright."
At this moment, she felt as if she was talking to Sean from five years before when he was still the President of A Country. Her heart started thumping, and she turned her back against him.
She did not know what he was planning to do. Sometimes, he would push her to the brink of death, other times, he seemed to spoil her. There were many times when he would get furious at her all of a sudden too. He was like an emperor with emotional issues.
She caressed her stump and stopped herself from being impulsive.
Reuben delivered the breakfast to their room shortly after. There were milk, tomato soup, and pancakes for breakfast.
She lowered her head and took a spoonful of soup. It tasted good and she didn't feel nauseous at all. She was able to finish the whole bowl of soup.
Sean was overjoyed when she finished her breakfast. The look in his eyes grew softer. "Would you like to have more?"
Eli shook her head. She hadn't eaten for a long time, so she did not have much appetite.
She was very full after finishing the bowl of soup.
"You are too thin, you should eat more," Sean said softly.
Eli looked at Sean with confusion. He was harsh on her just a few days before. Yet, his personality seemed to have changed.
"You are treating me very well. Aren't you afraid that your girlfriend will be angry at you?" Eli reminded him.
Sean's eyes dimmed. That was not his girlfriend. He had deliberately brought her back to make Eli angry. In the end, he was the one who got angry instead of Eli. He even ended up locking her in the cave.
He had always been a conscientious person. He was extremely careful and rational with his work. However, he would always become irrational whenever he was with her. He, too, thought it was childish of him.
"We broke up," Sean replied.
"Why? You shouldn't, you know? After all, she deserves you. You may not be able to find someone with such outstanding qualities in the future. After all, one does need to have a lot of talent to have such traits," Eli advised him earnestly.
Sean's expression instantly turned icy and asked, "What do you mean?"
"Do you really not understand? What I mean is, there are a lot of beautiful women out there, with perfect physiques and outstanding personalities. But it's hard to find a person with chemistry that fits you well. You have been an adult for more than ten years, and this is your first time meeting one," Eli explained.
Sean's face had turned green. He shot her a glare, stood up, and left.
Eli shrugged but did not ask him to stay. She took a bite of the pancakes, which tasted quite good. She walked to the windows as she munched on the pancakes.
If Haward was indeed still alive, was he the one who told her to wait in the research center then?
It was not that she could not run away. It was just she couldn't.
She finished the whole piece of pancake unknowingly. She was so full now. She lay back on the bed after wiping her hands.
She couldn't sleep and thoughts started to cloud her mind. The door was pushed open just as she was about to fall asleep. A group of maids walked in, including the one who warned her when she was eating crabs last time, that she should not take a fancy on Reuben.
"What are you doing?" she asked, perplexedly.
