Chapter 822 Nothing Stays The Same
Regardless, she appreciated the thought.
She arrived in D Country about six hours later. She slept the entire journey there. Luckily, she did not have a headache when she got off. She was just a little nauseated.
She acted accordingly to what she and Eli had planned. She went to a church to find a priest named Milore, then explained to him why she was there. He handed her a note in return.
She followed the address on the note, but the door was closed when she arrived there. It didn't seem like anyone was home.
Could it be that Eli had gone out?
When she saw a man next door coming out to walk his dog, she walked up to him and asked politely, "Hello, I'm sorry to bother you, but do you know where the neighbor staying here might have gone to?"
"Are you talking about Eli? She left quite a while ago."
"A while ago?" Stella was shocked. She asked in confusion, "How long has it been? Did she say where she was going?"
"About half a year ago, she left with Haward. They got married and went on a trip. I don't know when they'll come back," the neighbor said.
Stella didn't come back to her senses for several seconds. Her mind was racing with many questions. Eli and Haward had gotten married? And they went on a trip together? How was that possible? What about Sean? What was he going to do? Didn't Eli like Sean? Did Jasper lie to her? Or did she have a change of heart?
The phone rang and Stella finally came to her senses. Looking at Jasper's caller ID, she immediately answered it.
"Have you arrived? You didn't call me," Jasper's tone was deep, and there was a faint sense of sadness in it.
"Yes, I'm here. I came straight to Eli's place. Eli is gone, and her neighbor said that she has been away for half a year," Stella said worriedly, her mind blank.
"She has been away for half a year? Didn't she contact you?"
"No. I even checked my mailbox before I left the country, but there was nothing. Where could she have gone? What should I do? I can't find her," Stella was a little panicked as she hadn't fully digested the sudden news.
"Don't worry, I have the God's Eyes, I should be able to find out what happened half a year ago. I'll get someone to look into it now. Give me the address of Eli's former residence," Jasper said.
"I'll send it to you now," Stella said hurriedly.
"It may take a few more days to investigate. When will you come back?" Jasper asked worriedly.
"I'll be back tomorrow."
"Okay, buy a ticket and send the flight details to me. I'll send someone to pick you up," Jasper said softly, and his tone was much better than before.
Stella knew what he was thinking. Although he did not say it, he still cared about her very much in his heart.
However, where on earth had Eli gone?
If she couldn't find Eli, how could she save Sean then?
Eli had gotten married to someone else. Once Sean was released, how will they be able to suppress his ambition for revenge?
Stella found a hotel nearby and checked in. The more she thought about it, the more perplexed she became.
She remembered that when Eli didn't want to be with Sean, and she had helped Eli escape. What happened after that? How did Eli fall in love with Sean?
She called Micheal.
"Stella, are you back in A Country? How does it feel?" Micheal said warmly.
"Micheal, do you know about Eli?" Stella asked.
"Eli, your friend, right? I know a little about her."
"Can you tell me everything?"
Since Stella had asked him this, Micheal could tell that she was still struggling to remember the past. "The previous President, Sean, likes her. Previously, Sean had a wife from M Country named Yvonne. Yvonne had a woman called Natasha working for her. Sean had locked Natasha up because of Eli. Furthermore, in order to protect Eli, he also went as far as to kill Natasha's brother. Sean was dragged down from his position as President because of all these. He has been locked up ever since. Eli was also sent away by Sean."
"Does Eli like Sean?" Stella asked.
"I'm not sure about that. You know how private you are with your business. You wouldn't have told me even if I had asked back then. So, I didn't ask," Micheal said apologetically.
She knew that Sean liked Eli, and she could feel it. However, what was important was whether or not Eli liked Sean.
The more she thought about it, the more her head started to hurt. Before she knew it, she fell asleep before she even had the chance to eat.
At night, she had a dream. It was darkness all around her, and she couldn't even see her own fingers when she stretched her hand out. She was alone in the darkness.
She called out Jasper's name, but no one answered her. A girl's voice appeared and she repeated, "Who are you? You are not Stella. Who are you?"
The voice was hoarse, piercing through her eardrums.
Stella was so scared that she woke up and sat straight up. Her whole body was covered in a cold sweat. She picked up the phone and looked at it. It was 6 a.m. in D Country.
She calmed down and went to the bathroom to brush her teeth and wash her face. She sat on the bed and was in a daze for a while.
It seemed that it was a wasted trip to D Country this time. It was better to go back to A Country and find a way out. Moreover, she had to go to see Sean again.
She clicked on the travel app on her phone and booked a ticket back home at 10:20 p.m. Then, she checked out and had her breakfast at a nearby restaurant before heading to the airport.
On the way, she sent a message to Jasper. "My flight is at 10.20 p.m., I'll arrive in A Country at around 10 a.m. I'll contact you again later."
Jasper immediately called.
Stella was slightly stunned. It was 4 a.m. in A Country.
"Were you not asleep yet, or you were woken up by my text?" Stella asked apologetically.
"I haven't slept yet, I wanted to settle all my work today, so I can accompany you when you get back," Jasper said softly.
"It's not good for your health. Don't stay up late from now on. You're older than me, what if you fall sick? Go and rest."
"Don't worry. I'll be fine. By the way, all the surveillance videos from six months ago have been erased because of an internal RAM issue. They're trying to track her using facial recognition software now, but many of D Country's surveillances have a firewall that we need to break through. So for now, I won't be able to find her that quickly. I'm sorry."
"What about Sean? I don't know whether he would seek revenge if Eli isn't around," Stella was asking for Jasper's advice.
"You can't not do something just because you're afraid. Just let Sean out as planned. He is not a bad man. He would have been the wise one if he was still the President. The world of politics is everchanging, there are many things that one cannot control. You can't just do as you wish in a position like that. We'll discuss this more once you're back."
"Well, if you can't mobilize Sean's Invisibles, I'll try to see if I can hire other mercenaries."
"Bellamy won't allow you to use mercenaries. If you do, Sean will be able to use it against him. I'll think of another way to deal with it," Jasper said in a deep voice.
"Okay. I'll talk to you when I get back. Rest early," Stella then hung up the phone.
She had just arrived at the airport when eight people started blocking her way all of a sudden.
Stella felt an urge to run away immediately, but when she turned around, she saw another eight people headed her way...
