Chapter 967 I Only Have You In My Heart, But What About You?
"What are you doing here? Get out!" Hayley was finally done picking the flowers. When she saw Lina staring at Waverly arrogantly, she immediately went full-on protective mode.
"This is my master's territory, not yours. I can come whenever I want. It's none of your business how long I wish to stay here. Hmph!" Lina made a face and left the room.
"Madam, did she hurt you?" Hayley asked worriedly.
Waverly smiled and shook her head, "If Joseph wanted to kill me, it would be as simple as killing an ant. Since he wants to treat my sight, I won't be in danger for the time being. The flowers smell so fragrant. How many stalks did you pick?"
Hayley flashed her a simple and honest smile, "There's not much. I just got enough for one vase."
She handed the vase to Waverly and it sunk in her palms.
Waverly lowered her head and took a whiff, "It smells good. By the way, how's the puppy? We haven't been back for so many days, so it must be starving."
"I don't know either. I can't go out now, so I hope it's resourceful enough to find its own food."
Hearing this, Waverly felt her heart sink.
If she couldn't even take care of animals, she shouldn't have reared one in the first place. Otherwise, it would just be putting them in harm's way.
"I need to get some rest." She handed the flowers back to Hayley.
She placed the vase by the window. She shut it and helped Waverly back to the bed.
After she laid down on the bed, Hayley covered her with the blanket.
Holding Hayley's hands gratefully, Waverly smiled, "Hayley, you're such a nice person."
"You're the nice one, Madam. Get some rest first. I'm afraid they'll inject you with some sort of poison, so I need to watch what they administer closely."
Waverly was amused by her, "Okay."
After Hayley stepped out, she closed the door behind her.
Waverly closed her eyes, but she struggled to fall asleep.
These past few days, although it felt like she was being imprisoned, it gave her the time to calm down and think.
When she got her sight back, she wouldn't be this down anymore. She should get back on her feet and busy herself.
Once again, she heard someone push the door open.
This time it wasn't Hayley; it seemed to be Joseph.
Waverly just laid still. As he got closer, she could smell the scent of alcohol on him.
"I know you're still awake. You don't look like this when you're asleep," he said in a deep voice.
Leaving her with no choice, Waverly sat up helplessly. When she regained her sight, she had to get Hayley to take a picture of her when she's asleep. Then she would analyze it properly to see how she looked and figured out how Joseph could've seen through it.
"What can I do for you?" She asked coldly.
Sitting on her bed, he said, "Can't I just come to see you?"
She smiled slightly, "You seem to have a lot of free time. I'm afraid I'm not worthy of it."
He bowed his head and kissed her on the lips.
She tried to retreat in disgust.
However, he held onto the back of her head, refusing to let her go, "All of your time from now on is mine, it all belongs to me. You don't need to worry about having free time."
She struggled desperately, but she still couldn't rid herself from his grip.
God knows how much he drank. The scent of alcohol from him was so strong that it overpowered the scent from the flowers.
Even after using every single inch of strength she had left, she was no match for him. Even if she bit him, it would only hurt temporarily.
Once again, he kissed her forcefully before finally flipping her body over.
Waverly could sense the change in his body. Trembling, she desperately tried to shove him off her.
However, Joseph still forced himself onto her and his lips trailed down to her neck.
She was starting to feel anxious. "Didn't you just sleep with Sandy? Why don't you just go look for her? I'm sure she'll enjoy it better than me."
"Who's Sandy?" He frowned.
She smiled in a sarcastic manner, "I see that you have so many women that you forget our names. My name's Waverly. I'm sure you can remember that."
"I only have you, you and only you," he said in a hoarse voice. Stripping off her clothes, he entered her right away.
Frowning, she took it all in like a tsunami crashing into her.
"Only me? There's no way," she thought.
Joseph kept kissing her on the lips, making them all sticky.
Waverly tried her best to dodge.
Placing his lips by her ears, he whispered in a drunk voice, "When will I finally hold a place in your heart?"
"What?"
"You don't have me in your heart, do you?" He clenched his teeth and pressed on her shoulders tightly. He was thrusting into her so hard that she felt he was about to thrust right into her soul.
She pursed her lips tightly, refusing to make a sound. She held it in until he was finally done. Panting, he exhaled deeply over her face. Once he was done dressing himself, he got up and left without saying another word.
However, his scent still lingered in the air.
She was still annoyed. She got up and tried to open the window.
Hayley quickly rushed back in and exclaimed in shock, "Blood, there's blood everywhere. Madam, are you alright?"
"Blood?" Waverly frowned.
She didn't feel pain anywhere; could it belong to Joseph?
In the study room.
Leaning against the back of the chair, Joseph stared menacingly at the two women kneeling on the floor, "Who's Sandy?"
Sandy raised her head while trembling with fear.
"Who told Waverly I slept with Sandy?" He demanded an answer.
Sandy immediately shook her hand and stuttered, "It wasn't me. Who dared to do that?"
Lina was also starting to get scared. She looked up at Joseph once before bowing her head to the ground, "I said it! I couldn't stand to see her hurting you anymore, sir. Every time you visit her, she pretends to not see you."
"That's because she can't actually see. Every time I'm there, she's asleep," he said in a low voice. After saying that, he felt like there was no need to explain himself to a servant, so he let it go.
He really drank too much.
"Leave and remember what I told you. You should bear in mind what you should and shouldn't say. If I ever catch you saying something inappropriate, your tongue won't be the only thing on the line," he waved his hand, dismissing her.
Lina felt both aggrieved and scared, "I was just thinking of your own good. She's not worthy of you."
"So what?" He squinted at her. No one could ever tell what was on his mind.
Lina didn't know if what she said was right, but she took a gamble, "I just want her to fall for you, sir. You're way above her league, but she doesn't realize that. That's why I told her about Sandy, just to provoke her."
He stared at her for a long time. His gaze was one filled with mystery.
"And what happened as a result?" He shot back at her.
Lina gulped and continued to kneel on the ground, not saying a word.
"Drag her out and chop off her tongue," he ordered in a low voice.
Panicking, she spat out, "Actually, she does like you a little, Sir."
"What?" He was so shocked that he pulled her by the collar. With his chest all puffed up, he asked, "What did you say? Why do you think so?"
This made Lina even more nervous. If she even said one wrong thing, it wouldn't just be her tongue that would be chopped off. However, she had a rough idea of what Joseph wanted to hear.
"I've been talking to her a lot, but she chose to ignore me. No matter what I said, she'd always stare far away as if she was deaf. However, when I brought up Sandy, she started to become angry. Not only did she say something, she even scolded me. This only proves one thing, that she was jealous," she said with a trembling voice.
