Chapter 1041 It’s All Up To You If You Want To Do It
"Madam, it seems that there are two guards outside. I may not be a match for them. If they call more people over, I won't be able to defeat them," Hayley warned.
Waverly looked at the maid on the ground, "Let's just take a risk and try it out then. Give me some help."
She exchanged her clothes with the maid's and intentionally seated the maid on the chair by the door to ensure that the guards were able to see her.
She went out with her head down.
The guard took a glance at the room but did not suspect a thing.
Although Waverly had been here several times, there were too many rooms and corridors. Hence, all she could do was just to walk wherever she thought was right.
She figured Joseph's room must have a handle. If she saw a room with a handle on the outside, that must be it.
Just as she turned the corner, Joseph came out from a room.
"Sir, you can't go with them," Joshua pleaded worriedly.
"He wouldn't dare to do anything to me!" He said with a blank expression.
"That is uncertain. They even opened fire. Sir, you can't go. Something bad will happen." Joshua knelt on the ground and begged.
Joseph lowered his head and looked at him, "If I go now, they won't do anything to me. If I don't go, they'll have a reason to shoot and everyone here will be dead. Believe me, I'll be fine."
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry." Joshua bowed towards the floor.
Without looking back, Joseph walked out.
Waverly's heart tightened.
If it was Ronaldo's men who had come or any other militia, it would be safer for Joseph. However, it was Wensen. Had the Harington family really decided to rebel?
No, this was not right. If it was really a rebellion, they would have already opened fire. Joseph's life wouldn't be spared. What had actually happened?
Those people left with Joseph. Waverly heard the sound of the car outside and walked out.
Joshua was still kneeling on the ground, facing the direction in which Joseph left before. He was so emotionally stirred that the blood vessels on his neck were almost bursting out, and his shoulders were also trembling.
"What happened?" She asked.
Joshua was stunned. He looked at Waverly with eyes full of hatred. They were red from crying. He stood up and said angrily, "It's all because of you. You made him like this! Don't you feel pain in your heart? Or has your conscience been eaten up?"
"Don't start acting rashly and blame me for what had just happened. I don't even know what's going on and I don't feel anything towards your accusations. Even if you scold me, you won't get the emotional response you expect from me. There's no need for this," she said faintly.
He became agitated, "Mr. Mccarthy really thought that you had a car accident and was really kidnapped. He then found someone and escaped from prison. Gollin and the rest said that he was running away because of the fear of punishment and wanted to rebel. They wanted him dead. He was shot, but because he wanted to find you, he just had it bandaged simply. However, you just had to hide away intentionally."
"He escaped?" Waverly narrowed her eyes, "He doesn't need to do so. He has evidence to prove that he was framed."
"He's afraid that you'll be sad, so he didn't say anything about Yazoo. He even ordered us not to speak of him!" Joshua roared.
She frowned, "What do you mean?"
"When Bernald died, you seemed to have become a completely different person. You no longer had any sense of reason or will to live. If Yazoo died because of you and his entire family was implicated, you would definitely blame yourself. So he..." Joshua clenched his fists, feeling both pain and anger, "He didn't say anything about Yazoo. Now that he's been treated as a rebel and ended up in Gollin's hands, who knows if he..."
He could no longer continue and tears were streaming down his face.
"If you are devoted, you will admit it," she said ironically.
"Do you think that we don't want to? Yadriel wanted to go, but he was locked up by him. Sir said that even if we were to admit it, they could say that we just wanted to take the blame. It's useless. It will literally be our deathbed and it will also be condemning him."
"Joseph is smart," she said.
"What's the point of being smart? He shouldn't have fallen for such a cold-blooded and heartless woman like you. If he never fell in love with you, he would have been the king. It's all your fault. If he dies, I'll send you to him as well and I mean it," Joshua stated.
Waverly sneered, "You are really stupid."
"You are the stupid one. Your entire family is foolish." He was infuriated. After he finished speaking, he shut his mouth again.
He said her entire family. It seemed that he had cursed Joseph, too.
Unable to vent his feelings, he scolded, "You're the most foolish woman I've ever seen. If Bellamy loved you, he wouldn't have divorced you. He could just give up the position of the President, just like Jasper did. Jasper could have been President a long time ago, but he didn't want Stella to get involved, so he declined. Therefore, Bellamy had always been using you. He never loved you, but Sir..."
Joshua pursed his lips, unwilling to continue.
Waverly saw that his emotions collapsed. She very calmly said, "You are the stupid one here. Joseph is really pitiful, having such foolish people under his command."
He lifted his fists and aimed at her
She did not flinch nor dodge. His fist stopped in front of her.
He withheld himself. His fists were shaking.
She pushed his hand away and calmly said, "Joseph is only injured. When he is treated incorrectly by Gollin, that is when Ronaldo will realize that Gollin is disloyal."
"Mr. Mccarthy was taken by Wensen. He will really die!" Joshua widened his eyes.
"If the people that came were Wensen's subordinates, Joseph might really get into trouble. Gollin will get rid of him first and then report it. After all, he can just let another small little soldier take the blame. However, the person that came was Wensen himself. If Joseph gets into trouble, Ronaldo will also punish Wensen as he is not foolish. By weakening Gollin, he can force Gollin and Thomson to maintain a balance. Or perhaps he'll be slightly biased towards Thomson. After all, Thomson's personality is more upright and frank. He is easier to manipulate," she said coldly.
"So, what you're saying is that Mr. Mccarthy will be fine?" Joshua did not believe it.
"His return this time is just to see Ronaldo and tell him what actually happened to Yazoo. Then, he can blame the Harington family for my kidnapping case. Naturally, he will be safe and sound," Waverly said.
"He won't say it. If he wanted to say it, he would have done it earlier." Joshua's eyebrows were knitted together in a heavy frown.
"You're not even afraid of death, but you are afraid of sending Ronaldo a recording? What's more, you'll be saving Joseph's life," Waverly said faintly.
Joshua suddenly came to a realization and a flicker of panic flashed before his eyes, "You're trying to drive a wedge between me and him."
She shrugged her shoulders, "You can think of it that way if you want to, but it is still your choice if you want to save Joseph. I'm going back for dinner. I haven't eaten yet. Joseph also told me that I will be free tomorrow. I should go back and have a good rest to welcome my freedom."
She turned around and walked towards the room she used to be in.
