Chapter 885 No Expectation Equals No Disappointment
Bellamy looked at Waverly's teary eyes, and he felt a twinge of pity in his heart.
She had done nothing wrong. If anything, the only mistake she made was having married him.
"Please come with me. I've already told them about your matter. They all believe that you are innocent and they will treat you well," Bellamy persuaded.
There was a hint of bitterness in Waverly's eyes. A lot of thoughts were racing through her mind.
Bellamy's family members were very kind. They were all rational, noble, tolerant, compassionate, and loving.
Especially Stella, she was indeed the most perfect woman she had ever seen.
Waverly couldn't even bring herself to hate Stella. If compared to Stella, Waverly was nothing. After all, she had never walked into Bellamy's heart.
"Okay," Waverly said gently, "I'll go back to my room first. You can ask Marie to prepare a midnight snack for you if you are hungry. All these things will be done by her in the future. Remember to have your meals regularly, you've said it yourself that it's not good for health if you don't eat."
Bellamy nodded.
Waverly did not stay any longer. She turned around and went back to her room.
She knew that the longer she stayed, the more reluctant she would be.
She was 26 years old. All these years, she had never been in love, and she had never experienced love. She had always begged for it but she had never received it. She felt sad when she thought about it, but she could not blame anyone. She was not perfect enough.
There were too many thoughts in her mind. She went to bed and snuggled under the blanket, but she did not turn off the lights. Looking at the closed door, she did not feel like sleeping. She only had 242 hours left to spend with Bellamy. If she slept, she would lose another 6 hours.
She did not sleep a wink that night and got up very early the next morning.
After lying in bed for a long while, she decided to go to the kitchen. She listened to the lesson podcasts while she prepared breakfast for Bellamy.
"Good morning, Madam," Marie got up when she heard sounds coming from the kitchen.
Waverly smiled faintly and said, "I got up a little earlier because I couldn't sleep. We're going to Bellamy's brother's place for dinner tonight, so we'll not be at home. You should go home early as well. Your family should be waiting for you to go back to celebrate the New Year."
"Okay, then I'm leaving now, and..," Marie was about to say something but she paused at the second thought.
"What is it?" Waverly asked.
"Madam, could I come back to work on the third day of the New Year? I would like to spend some time with my family on the first and second day of the New Year," Marie asked.
"Don't worry. You may come back to work on the fifth day of the New Year. I'll tell Bell later," Waverly said softly.
"Thank you so much, Madam," Marie said and happily went back to her room to pack up her things.
Waverly made some chicken soup, but Bellamy had not woken up yet. Hence, she put on her shoes and went out for a walk.
It was already 5.30 a.m., but the sky would only turn bright at 6 a.m. during winter.
She took a stroll alone along the lake. It was very foggy that day. Although it was damp, the air was fresh.
She suddenly remembered that she had bought a lot of Hyacinth seeds some time ago, but for various reasons, she had not planted them yet.
She liked Hyacinths very much. It had many small clusters of flowers, which looked lively. The clusters of flowers were fragrant and were available in various colors.
She went back to get the Hyacinth seeds and went back to the lake to plant them. She was planting until dawn broke the horizon. As the mist dispersed, she saw Bellamy coming out for a run.
Bellamy noticed Waverly and walked towards her. He asked, "Why are you wearing so little in the morning?"
Waverly smiled. She liked to hear his concerned voice because it will warm her heart.
She stood up and said, "Bellamy, there's something that I've never told you."
"What is it?"
"I used to wear only two layers of clothing in winter. So, I'm already used to the cold. You go ahead and have a run. I'm going to plant all these flowers. Maybe they will blossom in a month," Waverly said with a smile.
Bellamy stepped forward, took off his sports jacket, draped it over her body, and held her hand.
Her hands had already turned red and were as cold as ice.
"You used to wear only two layers of clothes because you were still young at that time. You will have a hard time in the future if you keep falling sick now. So quickly go back and put on a down jacket. You can come out to plant flowers after you put on extra clothes."
"You are older than I am, so you should be the one who has to take care of your body. I'll go back now," Waverly said and took his jacket off and handed it back to him before walking back to the villa.
It was not that she did not yearn for Bellamy's warmth. It was just that she would feel even colder after the warmth.
Since they would be divorced in the end, they should reduce their contact with each other. That way, she would not be so reluctant when she leaves.
When she walked to the villa, the tears on her face became colder.
She was starting to get a runny nose due to the cold. She pulled out a tissue and blew her nose before going into the bathroom to wash her face. Her face was red from the cold. In fact, her neck, which was exposed in the air, was also numb.
How could she live without Bellamy in the future?
She took a deep breath and held back her tears. After coming out of the bathroom, Bellamy had also returned and was making her a cup of ginger sugar tea. He started to nag at her again, "You need to know how to take care of yourself. In this world, no one will treasure you more than yourself."
Waverly smiled and nodded, "You look very much like your brother when you are serious."
Bellamy paused and said, "Don't change the topic. Go back to your room and put on some clothes first."
Waverly nodded, turned around, and went back to her room. Shortly after, she came out in a down jacket.
Only then did Bellamy finally stopped nagging, "I'm going for a run. Oh right, I didn't see Marie. Did you let her go on leave already?"
"Yes, is it okay that I asked her to only come back to work on the fifth day of the New Year?" Waverly asked softly.
Bellamy nodded and said, "I'll give Marie more money this year. Her son just had a baby."
"Yeah, I know that. I've already given her extra. Don't worry. Go for your run now. You can have breakfast after you come back," Waverly urged.
"Okay," Bellamy then went out for his daily run.
Waverly went out and planted the remaining Hyacinth seeds by the lake.
It was said that the meaning of purple Hyacinth was sadness, jealousy, and melancholic love, as well as nostalgia and apology.
It portrayed her emotions accurately. Bellamy was still running when she was done planting and watering the seeds.
She went back inside to warm the soup. She also fried some potatoes with parsley and made two poached eggs. She then poured the milk into the glass.
Bellamy came back shortly after. She was just about to call him in for breakfast when she saw him walking upstairs. She remained silent.
She did not want her words to affect what he was going to do.
They had been together for five years. Over the past five years, they had been together almost every day. She was too used to him being in her life.
She did not know whether Bellamy had gotten used to her presence, but she hoped he did not.
After she leaves this place, Bellamy would be the only one living in the villa.
No matter how busy he was at work or how exhausted he would be, she would not be by his side anymore.
If he hadn't gotten too used to her presence, his life would not change too much. He may not have a blissful life because Stella was not by his side. But at least, he would still be fine...
