Chapter 935 Don’t Fool Around

Waverly's eyes dimmed.
It turned out that it was useless.
She knew that Joseph wouldn't tell her anything useful.
Joseph was not the type to put himself in difficulty's way for other people's sakes.
"Bellamy, I'm making a snowman. Look." Waverly faced the camera to the snowballs. "It's not done yet. It's just a round ball now. I'll go finish making it first."
"Hey, it's snowing outside now. You will catch a cold if you're not careful. The snowman can wait until the snow has stopped falling. Hurry up and go back for now," Bellamy urged.
Waverly felt warmth spreading inside her heart. Her hands no longer felt cold. She said in a softer tone, "Back then, we would also make snowmen together on snowy days."
"That was only for a brief while. It doesn't matter. Be good and take good care of yourself. Don't make me worry." Bellamy frowned.
Waverly's eyes glimmered.
She felt his concern, but unfortunately, it was impossible for them to be together in this lifetime. Her eyes reddened. She did not want Bellamy to see her cry, so she said, "Then I'll head back first. I'm hanging up. Take good care of yourself too, and stay safe."
Bellamy smiled chirpily. "I will definitely live long, don't worry."
"Well, talk to you soon," Waverly said, hanging up as she said that. Tears streamed down her face. Many thoughts were pounding in her mind. She couldn't figure them out. All she felt was an overwhelming sadness. She just wanted to cry it all out.
But what good would crying do?
There were so many people who would be elated to see her broken down like this, but she couldn't let them have their way.
Waverly wiped her tears and calmed down. She glanced at the snowball, but did not continue with it. She walked towards the villa.
As soon as she entered, a servant came to her with a cup of hot tea and said with a smile, "Mr. Mccarthy has asked you to drink this."
"Thank you." Waverly took the ginger tea, blew on it, and drank a big mouthful of it. Then, she handed the cup to the servant and made a beeline for the dressing room, where she took off her coat. When she walked out of the dressing room, the servant was already waiting outside.
"Mr. Mccarthy would like you to come with me," the servant said politely.
"Lead the way then," Waverly replied.
The servant went upstairs. Waverly followed behind her and arrived at the door of a room.
The servant knocked on the door.
"Come in," Joseph said.
The servant opened the door and stood respectfully at the entrance.
Waverly went inside. Joseph was sprawled out on the bed lazily, watching the news on the TV.
"Do you usually not do business here?" Waverly asked casually.
"It's not open to the public. My friends come here for fun. This place is for entertaining them," Joseph answered with a serious look.
Joseph turned off the news and went to choose a movie instead. He asked Waverly, "Come here, do you see anything you like?"
Waverly glanced at the screen. There were many movies that she had never heard of. "Five Men in Mountain."
It looked like a war epic.
She sat down on the sofa.
"I didn't expect you to have such depressing taste. Come onto the bed," Joseph said, his eyes glimmering.
Waverly glanced at him. Well, there was nothing to be embarrassed about. She couldn't escape anyway, so she had to face the reality of her situation. She even seemed dignified while doing so.
She sat down on the bed.
Joseph opened a drawer and took out some lotion from it. "Take your clothes off. I'll apply some of this for you. It'll help reduce swelling and you'll feel better."
Waverly realized what kind of medicine it was. She snatched it from Joseph's hand, saying, "I can do it by myself."
Joseph smiled, but he didn't force the matter. He merely switched the movie on.
Waverly realized what sort of movie it was from the intense music and explicit scenes that were shown at the beginning.
"Are you a pervert?" She asked, making no effort to hide her displeasure.
He looked at her placidly, with a calm expression. "Weren't you the one who chose it?"
"How would I know what it was about? Pick another one for me." Waverly frowned.
She had watched that kind of film once or twice, a long time ago. She never watched anything of the sort again after she married Bellamy. She was too embarrassed to watch it.
Joseph switched the movie off and asked, "Which one do you want to switch to?"
Waverly had the sneaking suspicion that all the movies in the selection were of the same genre, so she said, "I don't want to watch anything anymore. I'm tired. I want to sleep."
"Well, you have just applied the medicine, and I can't let the medicine go to waste. Sleep, then." Joseph turned off the TV, drew the curtains, and switched the light off.
The room was pitch-black, so dark that nothing could be seen.
Joseph laid the blanket over Waverly.
Waverly subconsciously leaned towards the edge of the bed. She looked at the darkness in front of her and closed her eyes.
A hand was placed on Waverly's waist.
Knowing that it was Joseph, she did not move. The more she moved, the more Joseph would act up. It was better to pretend to be asleep.
Joseph put his arms around her waist and pulled her to him.
Waverly frowned irritably.
She was used to sleeping alone, but now, she had to share a bed with someone. She was not used to it. Although she didn't move, her back was stiff and she was on full alert.
Joseph kissed her earlobe gently. It made her hair stand on end.
"It's good for you to be an obedient girl. Don't force yourself to rebel. Those who rebel are often destroyed. Waverly, do you understand?" Joseph asked in a hoarse voice.
"At least those rebels lived meaningful lives, right?" Turning around to face him, she could only vaguely see the outline of his face.
"Are you sure that you want it to be meaningful?" Joseph asked pointedly.
"Of course," Waverly said without thinking.
Joseph chuckled. "Well, it's great that we are on the same page."
Waverly didn't want to talk to him anymore. She said, "I really want to sleep."
"Go to sleep then." Joseph's voice became even hoarser.
Waverly turned over, her back against him.
Joseph continued holding her in his arms and buried his head in her shoulder.
She didn't know how long it took, but she eventually heard steady breathing coming from him, which indicated that he was probably asleep.
Waverly still couldn't sleep. All nature of thoughts plagued her mind. She wanted to get up, but as soon as she moved, Joseph put more force on her waist.
Was he asleep, or was he not?
Waverly did not move around anymore. She didn't know when she eventually fell asleep. In her sleep, she dreamed a chaotic dream.
In the dream, she saw a blurred face covered with blood. Her gut told her that that was a dead person, her dead biological mother to be precise. She wanted to see her face clearly, but she couldn't.
She had gone to take revenge on Melinda. Many snakes lay in her path.
She hated snakes the most; she was also most afraid of snakes. She fiercely chopped off the heads of the snakes, but unexpectedly, more snakes went to attack her.
Finally, Waverly was bitten by one. Bellamy appeared, rescued her from the pile of serpents, and took her on a ship.
Waverly saw Melinda on the ship too. Just as she was about to kill Melinda, she woke up. Because she had to go to the washroom, she struggled for a moment and got up in a daze. Then she walked to the position of the toilet from her memory, but after several times, she couldn't feel the handrail beside the toilet.
The light was turned on. Joseph looked at her and asked, "What are you doing?"
