Chapter 864 Sleep Tight, I Will Bring You Home

Stella fell silent.
She knew how terrifying it was to have enemies around her. In the past, Jasper was even assassinated in his own military base.
Furthermore, once Sean had made up his mind to turn against them, he would then be surrounded by enemies, and every move he makes would be under surveillance. To kill all those people, not only would he need time but also a strong ability, a high level of endurance, and superb acting skills.
Although Sean was wealthy and powerful, threats were all around him, waiting to take him down.
"I will take good care of her, but I know that Eli wants you to take care of her. Otherwise, she would not have sacrificed herself like this for you. I will not prescribe any medicine for her for the time being, as I wouldn't want her to grow dependent on it. It's not good for her to take too much of it. What you should do now is to care for her and make her happy. Don't mention anything that will make her feel pressured or in pain," Stella advised.
"Okay, I'll talk to you later once I've concluded a detailed plan," Sean said and hung up the phone. Turning around, he saw Eli standing behind him, frowning slightly.
Smiling brightly, Eli walked toward him and said, "So I've got depression. Don't worry, I'm sure that I'll recover."
Sean looked at her smiling face in distress, "I'm sorry. It's all because of me that you became this way."
"You didn't. This is what had become of me after a long time. That's also the reason why I became so thin. But, I could still eat a lot when I am in a good mood. It's just that I get insomnia often, and it feels terrible. I will slowly adjust to it. I could sleep pretty well when you are beside me. I'm always asleep, it's like I have recovered my sleep debt throughout the years," Eli said with a smile.
"That's not sleeping. It's more like you have fainted."
"Well, it has the same effect," Eli chuckled as she grabbed hold of Sean's arm and said, "Let's go for the treatment now."
Sean hesitated and said, "The treatment may cause you to be unable to sleep at night."
"I have to fix my arm if I want to live a good life in the future. No matter how difficult it is, I'll just have to persist for a month. The longer you live, the more accidents there will be, especially when you are ill. It's like that for everyone, so it's alright. This is life. I was carefree and easygoing when I was young. But, I must bear the burden when I am older," Eli said, smiling faintly.
Sean looked at her in distress.
She had lived a carefree life in the past, flying happily in the sky just like a bird. But now, because of him, she had shouldered on responsibilities that others may not be able to bear. This had made her grow a lot in the past five years. She also became mature.
If he could, he wished that Eli would remain the person she was when she was a child, impulsive and free, instead of being a person who lived so cautiously and humbly.
It was all his fault.
"Haward is currently in M Country," Sean said but paused.
He hoped that if he died, aside from Stella, Haward could take care of her. He knew that Haward would do a better job than him. However, he hoped that she would stay by his side if he could stay alive. That was why he could not finish what he wanted to say.
Eli smiled and said, "Haward also has the right to pursue his own happiness. I can't drag him down anymore. Sean, from the moment we had a child together, perhaps, we are destined to be together for the rest of our lives"
She sighed and said, "When I think about it, it seems that I've taken advantage of you. After all, you used to be the President, and now you're the head of a conglomerate. Perhaps this should be recorded in history. A thousand years of notorious reputation is more interesting than being completely unknown, isn't it?"
Sean hugged her tightly and closed his eyes. His eyes were trembling. He was also unwilling to leave Eli alone in the world. After all, she had always been very afraid of loneliness.
"Give me three years, I will clean up all this mess and bring you back, and reunite our family," Sean promised.
Eli patted Sean's back and looked at the branches swaying in front of them.
Sean must be exhausted. After all, he was the one who had done everything from the very beginning.
He already lost his Presidency because of her. She really did not want him to lose his life because of her as well.
"I'll give you as many years as you need. It doesn't matter, just don't rush it, alright? If you die, I have no reason to live at all. Well, let's stop talking about this. We'll die tomorrow if they get to know about this," Eli said with a smile.
"Alright, let's head back now and have breakfast," Sean said, changing the topic.
Eli nodded and followed him in. Reuben had already ordered someone to warm up the breakfast and serve them.
Eli lowered her head and forced herself to eat more.
"Get the car. We are going to the research center," Sean ordered Reuben.
Reuben nodded, walked to the door, and make the necessary arrangements. He then made a call and reported to the other end, "Mr. Yaleman is taking Miss Wayne to the research center now. Miss Wayne was crying earlier, but I don't know the specific reason for it. Mr. Yaleman does not allow anyone to follow them, I don't know what he is going to do."
......
Eli was lying on the treatment machine. It felt as though numerous ants were gnawing at her broken arm. Her heart was beating extremely fast and her chest felt stuffed. She also felt like she was about to throw up. She could feel her temperature spiking and her forehead was already covered with small beads of sweat.
She did not utter a word. She just pressed her lips tightly together as she did not want Sean to worry.
However, she felt tormented when she thought about it. If she had died after jumping off that tower that day, she wouldn't have had to suffer such pain now.
If she had died when she jumped off the building, Sean would definitely be able to live well. He would be standing at the top without a worry.
If she had died when she jumped off the building, she would not have to suppress her sadness, self-reproach, and melancholy every day.
It finally ended an hour after. Eli ran into the bathroom and threw out all the food she had for breakfast.
Sean looked at her in distress as he caressed her back and brought her some water.
Eli took two sips of water to rinse her mouth. She looked at him with a weak smile and said, "I managed to pull through today. There are still 29 days left."
"They said that your response is very good, and they are in the midst of customizing your arm. If everything goes well, they will be able to install the arm in another half a month," Sean said softly.
Eli nodded and said, "That's great news. Fifteen days will pass in the blink of an eye. Sean, I'm a little tired. Could I sleep for a while?"
Sean picked her up and said, "Sleep tight, I'll bring you home."
Eli's head was throbbing. She passed out immediately after leaning on Sean's shoulder.
"Why did she faint again?" Sean questioned the researcher.
"Her mind will be extremely tense during the treatment and throwing up will exhaust her strength, resulting in the lack of oxygen. This is a normal reaction. She will be fine when she wakes up," the researcher explained.
With a cold expression, Sean carried Eli in his arms and left the research center.
His mobile phone rang as soon as he got back into the car. It was an unknown caller ID.
He answered the phone unhappily, "Who is this? What's the matter?"
