Chapter 1009 Why? Do You Want to See Me Make A Fool of Myself?

Yadriel pursed his lips and stayed silent.
Waverly smiled and looked at the time. If she were to head back at the moment, half an hour would definitely pass by the time she got to her room.
She folded and broke the stem of a fully bloomed rose, saying, "I like roses, but if I were to pick them from where they initially grew, what do you think the result would be?"
Yadriel glanced at the flower in Waverly's hands and said, "As long as you take good care of them and cultivate them carefully, even a small branch will flourish and sprout countless branches."
Waverly was stunned for a moment. She had originally thought his answer would be that the rose would wither even faster. She looked at Yadriel and said, "You are quite a sweet-talker, attentive and good at observing people. No wonder you've been placed in such an important position by Joseph."
"It's getting late. Madam should go back now. If you haven't had enough time to walk around, you could continue tomorrow. When the sun is up, you'll be able to see everything clearer," Yadriel said.
Waverly pursed her lips.
Yadriel and Joshua were brothers. They did look quite similar to each other, but Yadriel was more introverted and cold, while Joshua was more impulsive and enthusiastic.
She knew that she couldn't get any more information from Yadriel, and she no longer felt like conversing with him as that would be a waste of her time.
She walked in the direction of the villa and saw a rabbit running by, "There's a rabbit."
"Madam, do you like rabbits?" Yadriel asked with a straight face.
It was really refreshing to encounter a wild white rabbit.
However, keeping on as her own was not something she could do.
Since she couldn't take good care of the rabbit and was reluctant to restrain its freedom, she shook her head and replied, "I'm just happy with the encounter. Nothing more."
She continued walking forward, only to find that Yadriel was following behind her. She frowned and asked, "Did Joseph ask you to follow me?"
"I'm going back to the villa for my shift," Yadriel explained.
Waverly moved to the side and motioned for him to go first.
Yadriel walked past her.
Waverly slowly followed behind him while gradually creating a distance between them. She felt someone's gaze, so she halted and looked up.
Joseph was standing by the window, looking at her in indifference.
Waverly didn't bother to make out what his expression was. After all, she couldn't see his face clearly. So, she lowered her head and continued to walk.
As soon as they arrived at the villa, a maid came over and took her to her room.
Joseph was already sitting on the sofa with pursed lips and a long face. He looked at her as if he was lost in his thoughts, gloomy.
Waverly eyed him.
Joseph's temper was like the rainy season, unpredictable as ever.
"You wanted to seduce my subordinate? I advise you to give up on that idea. They won't betray me," Joseph warned coldly.
Waverly paused and looked at Joseph in shock. Then, she snorted and laughed out loud.
It was rare for Joseph to fail to see things thoroughly and accurately.
Although she had long been doing things that were beyond her capabilities, she was still quite clear about her own boundaries.
She was not a stunning woman who could make people's hearts flutter at a glance, nor was she an expert in love. Her personality was not the best either.
Her trying to seduce his men? Why, she didn't have the ability to do so in the first place!
What a joke!
Joseph frowned as he asked seriously, "What are you laughing at?"
"Something interesting happened when I was on the way back today. Guess what Yadriel said?" Waverly asked.
"What?" Joseph's complexion turned even worse.
"Even if you asked me, I won't tell you. You can ask Yadriel. He's quite handsome and cool. I heard that such a man is very popular among women," Waverly said with a smile.
Joseph gritted his teeth and made a phone call. He demanded, "Come in."
After a series of knocks, Yadriel pushed the door open and walked in with his head lowered.
He glanced at Yadriel and said, "When the two of you came back, did something interesting happen?"
Yadriel had no idea what was going on, so he failed to even raise his head. After thinking for a moment, he said, "We ran into a rabbit."
"What did you say to me after that?" Waverly asked in a nice manner.
Yadriel had a bad feeling as he looked at Waverly, asking, "What did I say?"
"You've already said it, so don't you try to deny it. A real man should take responsibility for what he has done," Waverly said.
"I just asked you if you liked it or not," Yadriel replied.
As soon as he finished his words, a pillow hit him.
"It's none of your business whether she likes it or not," Joseph said with some displeasure. "If she likes it, will you go and catch it? You are quite the woman pleaser."
Yadriel's face turned pale from fear. He knelt down and said sincerely, "I didn't have any unrealistic thoughts towards Madam, and never will I. Madam is yours, Mr. Mccarthy. Even if you give me millions of dollars, I still wouldn't even dare to think about that notion. All I noticed was that a rabbit passed by and how happy Madam was when she saw it. I asked her casually just so I could report this to you and didn't have any intentions to try to please her."
The expression on Joseph's face eased a little and he warned, "There are some things you can do, and some things that you can't. You should be clear about those boundaries. Leave."
"Yes," Yadriel stood up, lowered his head, and left the room.
Waverly smiled as she poured herself a glass of hot water. She sat on the chair, drinking slowly as she said, "Joseph, you read too many novels. You can even come up with such things. If I had the charisma to seduce people, Lenold wouldn't have betrayed me, and Bellamy would also have fallen in love with me."
Joseph's eyes locked onto Waverly's, the color of his eyes darkening due to his laxness. He said to Waverly, "It's good that you have such self-awareness, else you might humiliate yourself."
Waverly drank all the water in the glass and realized that it was time for bed, so she became nervous.
"Do you want me to carry you to bed, or can you do that yourself?" Joseph sneered.
Waverly stood up and said, "I'm quite tired today. Can you let me rest?"
"Weren't you in good spirits when you saw Yadriel make a fool of himself just now? Why do you want to rest now? What did you think of?" Joseph teased menacingly.
"Despite wanting to do it everyday and having to entertain other women, you don't feel tired at all."
Joseph stood up.
Waverly's heart throbbed.
"Whether I'm tired or not, you'll know in a moment. I show my resolve through my actions," Joseph walked towards her.
Waverly subconsciously stepped back.
Joseph walked fast and arrived in front of her with just a few steps.
Waverly was pressed against his chest.
Joseph held her hand and narrowed his eyes, locking his gaze on her. He said, "You've done it so many times, yet you still are disgusted by it each time. Are you still trying to escape?"
"I really don't understand you. What's the point of doing that kind of thing? It's a waste of time and energy," Waverly tried to reason with him.
"If Bellamy was the one wanting to get it on with you now, would you still think that it's boring and wasteful?" Joseph asked.
Waverly's eyes flickered as she thought of the past.
She remembered that she had used to make the first move on Bellamy, but Bellamy had always rejected her.
His attitude towards her was reaffirmed by his words and behavior.
If she told Joseph so, based on his overbearing character, she would not rest well this night.
