Chapter 1075 Do Not Bully Her
"She is just a child," Waverly reasoned.
"And that's why she's still immature. You know that I don't like immature people, especially those who act like fools in front of me," Joseph hinted.
"Yes." Then, Waverly noticed that Hayley hadn't left yet.
She took five hundred dollars from her bag and handed it to Hayley, urging, "Go ahead and buy whatever you want."
"Madam, I'm worried about you," Hayley said worriedly.
"Since Joseph showed up here, it means this place is surrounded by his people. What can you do here? Besides, I will have to face him when I go back anyway. I know what I should do. Just listen to me," Waverly lowered her voice as she spoke and put the money into Hayley's hands.
"Should I inform the President? This is A Country's territory anyway," Hayley said.
"Did you forget what I've told you? Don't tell Bellamy anything about me, and don't trouble him either," Waverly reminded her solemnly.
Hayley noticed that Waverly was getting angry, so she nodded and obeyed. "Alright. I'll wait for you later at the place where we got off."
"Okay," Waverly responded before she turned around and walked toward Joseph.
Joseph let out a chuckle, which seemed meaningful and full of irony.
Waverly didn't ask him why he laughed like that. Even though he didn't say it, she knew that there wouldn't be any good words coming from him.
After a while, she spotted a small stall and stopped her pace. "That's a specialty in A Country. You can't get it anywhere else. Do you want to try?"
"What's that?" Joseph looked in the direction Waverly was looking and asked, "Eggs?"
"They're not ordinary eggs," replied Waverly.
"Boss, can I have two eggs?" Joseph asked.
"That'll be four dollars."
Waverly paid the vendor four dollars.
Then, Joseph took the eggs and sniffed them. Frowning, he asked, "Why does it stink?"
"That's why I said, they're not ordinary eggs." Waverly didn't even look at Joseph as she explained.
"Boss, give me two eggs." A middle-aged man next to them placed his order and paid four dollars without hesitation. After peeling the eggshells, the man ate them.
Joseph sniffed the eggs again and said, "You and I will have one each."
"I don't want to eat it. You were the one who said you wanted to try," Waverly refused.
Joseph smiled. He put his hand on Waverly's shoulder and pulled her into his arms, saying, "No matter what we buy, we will share it. Otherwise, how would I know if you're trying to poison me?"
"I don't want to eat this. If you don't want it either, just throw it away," Waverly spoke bluntly.
Joseph looked at the vendor and asked, "Boss, why do these eggs smell weird? Are they spoiled?"
"Young man, this is probably the first time you've seen this kind of egg. They are very nutritious and healthy. They've been soaked in urine belonging to virgins," the vendor explained.
Joseph was rendered speechless.
He passed the eggs to Waverly and said, "Eat it."
Waverly turned around and gave them to the middle-aged man. "This is for you."
"Waverly, you sure are brave. You want me to eat food soaked in virgins' urine?" Joseph glared at her.
"Didn't you hear him say that they're nutritious? It's not poison."
"Is that so? Then, how about I buy all the eggs for you?"
Waverly was afraid that Joseph would really do as he said, so she grabbed him and continued to walk forward. "If you don't want to eat it, then forget it. I don't want it either."
He playfully tapped on her head and chided, "You'd better be obedient if you don't want to eat it."
"Many strange foods may not look nor smell good, but they taste delicious. Take durians as an example. They're called the king of fruits for a reason. Although they're very stinky, they taste delicious," Waverly said.
"I don't care." Joseph looked at her lazily and smirked. "No matter what we eat, both of us will have half each. Aren't we in this together?"
Waverly looked away.
She didn't want to have the same interests as him.
"You look like you're in a good mood. You're on good terms with Beckham, aren't you?" Waverly asked tentatively.
Joseph's gaze darkened and she could see her reflection in his eyes. He said, "Beckham was the one who released the venomous snakes. Since Yasmine was invited to have dinner at the President's Mansion today, what do you think will happen if the snakes attack her?"
Waverly frowned and asked cautiously, "You want to put the blame on Bellamy?"
"Bellamy and Yasmine are already on the same side. Even if she's bitten by a snake, she'll still be treated well. What's the point of putting the blame on Bellamy? Everyone knows that the bigger picture is the most important."
"Then, what's your purpose?" Waverly squinted her eyes.
"She messed with you. You are my woman. If I don't stand up for you, who will? Even if her wound has been treated, the spot where she was bitten will swell. It will most probably be there for ten days to half a month. At least, she will be in pain for a period of time. Wouldn't it be a great way for you to vent out your anger?" said Joseph with a complicated smile while his eyes gleamed cunningly.
Waverly did not believe that it would be that simple. She gazed at him suspiciously.
"Of course, Bellamy broke the agreement and made an alliance with the Harington family. I'll have to teach him a lesson and let him know who's the capable one. As for Bellamy, he made you unhappy, so I have to do the same," Joseph continued arrogantly.
Meanwhile, Waverly stared at Joseph.
In her perspective, Joseph was a vengeful person who would seek revenge for the smallest grievance.
The day before, she and Bellamy had both tried to threaten him and leave him at the hotel. When Joseph called her, she did not pick up the phone. Therefore, she did not believe that Joseph would let her and Bellamy off so easily. "You have done more than that, haven't you?"
Joseph's smile disappeared. He stared at her, gazing deeply into her eyes. "I'll give you whatever Bellamy can't give."
"You?" Waverly echoed in disbelief. Looking at his attentive and serious expression, he was completely different from his usual playful self. She said, "Just say what you want to say. I can't guess what's on your mind."
"'Peace Lady', I've helped you to get this title. When we get back this time around, Ronaldo will award it to you immediately," Joseph said.
Hearing this, Waverly was even more puzzled. Her eyes remained fixated on him.
There was no reason for Joseph to help her achieve such a big honor even after she had offended him. With the Peace Lady title, she could have her own courtyard, enter the Cabinet, gain a high status, and do many other things.
"You... Why are you doing this?" Waverly finally asked.
"I'm proving my ability to you. Don't you see it? I'm more capable than Bellamy. I'm doing things that he can't do. This is also a way to tell him that he's not qualified to take away my woman. Besides, you're going to rule by my side in the future. If I help you now, it also means I'm helping myself," Joseph spoke arrogantly and conceitedly.
