Chapter 1108 What Was The Point In Fighting?

If Joseph's words could be trusted, then even pigs could fly.
Waverly sat opposite Joseph, while Boris took a look at them and sat in the seat behind Waverly.
"Have I seen you before?" the woman asked Waverly.
Waverly looked at her and said, "I'm Waverly. When I was young, I stayed with the Mccarthy family."
"Oh, I remember now. You're Joseph's cousin, the daughter of his aunt," the woman raised her smile and held Joseph even tighter. With her face leaning on Joseph's shoulder, she continued, "I once went to the Mccarthy family to play, but you came looking for Joseph angrily and said that he had drawn on your books. Then, you insisted on drawing on Joseph's books too."
The woman's words reminded Waverly that there was indeed such a thing.
Back then, the first thing she usually did after returning home was to do her homework. When she returned home that day, she had opened her school bag and taken out her exercise book, only to see that every page of the book had been scribbled on. There had even been Joseph's signature on the last page.
She opened her other exercise books, each of which had been drawn on randomly on the pages. His signature had been in every single book.
At that time, the conflict between her father and Melinda had been incredibly heated. Her father had been drinking outside and no longer paid her much attention, so he had no money to give her.
Needless to say, Melinda certainly would not give her money as well.
She hadn't even had enough money to buy an exercise book. She was livid, so she argued with Joseph about that matter.
Now that she thought about it, how old was she back then?
Fifteen or sixteen years old?
Thirteen or fourteen years old?
She couldn't remember clearly. In the end, she had asked for 200 dollars from him, but she was pushed by his friends and was injured. Her ankle had twisted and she had no money to see the doctor. No one cared about her. After her ankle was swollen for three or four days, the swelling disappeared and she slowly recovered.
However, while her ankle had been swollen, she was often bullied by Joseph and his friends.
The girl in front of him was one of Joseph's childhood friends, seemingly one of his ex-girlfriends.
Waverly used to see them always playing together. Whenever she saw them, she always walked away.
After she moved out of the Mccarthy family, she stopped coming into contact with these people.
"I am quite the forgetful one. I can't remember a lot of things and I don't want to either," Waverly said.
"I didn't expect you to become Joseph's woman now. It's really...You nobles always marry within the family. It's really unbearable. I think that this system should be abolished or it'll be too chaotic," said the woman.
"She's not my cousin. Her mother's not my aunt." Joseph said.
"No wonder you always bullied her when she was a child. It turns out that she has no blood relation with you at all," said the woman.
"Ha," Joseph chuckled and looked at Waverly's face faintly. "If I knew that she wasn't related to me back then when I was a child, I don't think she'd be alive now."
"I remember that when she was a child, she was really ugly, filthy and had a bad temper. She was a particularly flamboyant little girl. When she saw me, she always glared at me fiercely. When she grew up, her temperament turned completely different. However, it seems that she still looks at me the same way," the woman sighed.
Waverly didn't want to talk to them anymore.
They also didn't have much to say, only choosing to watch her as if she was an animal, making fun of her.
Due to the fact that she was weak, she could only be bullied. Even if she got slapped, she didn't even deserve to cry.
"Why aren't you talking?" asked the woman. "Are you mute? Weren't you fierce when you were a child? Have you now become a sheep that has been tamed?"
Waverly fixed her eyes on the woman. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw that Joseph was looking at her with great interest.
He looked like he was enjoying her being bullied.
They were colluding with each other, just like evil villains and spirits.
The woman saw that Waverly still did not speak. She leaned on Joseph in a seductive manner, whining, "Hey, your girlfriend is so arrogant. Why doesn't she talk? I still want to talk to her."
"Speak," Joseph ordered Waverly.
Waverly looked at Joseph coldly, "What do you want me to say? I was sorry I scared you with my fierce appearance. So, even if I shut my mouth, I'm still in the wrong?"
"What kind of attitude is this now? I've just let you go, but now you're starting to act presumptuously again," Joseph said coldly.
"How do you want me to act so that you think what I do is not presumptuous? I didn't talk and I let you two insult me. What else do you want me to do? Kneel down and beg for your punishment?" Waverly asked.
A sharp light flashed across his eyes. He asked the woman next to him, "How do you want to punish her?"
The woman smiled, "Of all the people you send to me to train every year, there will always be one or two different ones who are arrogant, rude and like to contradict me. The more they don't obey me, the more they have to suffer. The more I have to tell them how to submit to me, the more they dare not be rude. They cherish everything they have now and are grateful for getting a different punishment, so that they can become a better person."
Waverly smiled and the look in her eyes grew even more provocative. She refused to give in as she retorted, "So?"
"This is my territory. You can get out of the car and experience that kind of training for three days. I think you'll definitely benefit a lot. I wonder whether you will obey me or continue to resist?" The woman said with a smile, "Stop the car."
"It's too dangerous to let her go down alone. She's not a warrior and doesn't have the strength to even tie up a chicken. If she lives in the wild and encounters wild beasts, she'll definitely die," Boris stopped her.
Joseph looked straight at Waverly and asked, "Do you want to be a warrior or do you just want to be my woman?"
Be his woman? That meant Waverly had to swear allegiance to him, beg for mercy on her knees and lose all of her personality. According to Joseph's personality, once she was conquered, the fate that awaited her in the end would still be death.
Her death would arrive on the day Joseph finally grew tired of toying with her.
"If I just become your woman and stay by your side like an ornament, I don't think that's a long-term solution. You said that you will give me the position of the empress, but I don't think that as your empress, I can enjoy the empire you built in peace without contributing anything. If you want me to leave, I will do so," Waverly said in a neither humble nor pushy way.
Joseph's eyes narrowed while his dark pupils contracted, his gaze growing even sharper.
He clearly knew that she didn't want to be his woman. Even so, he kept asking her the same question.
His intelligence must have been abducted by aliens.
"You talk back too much. It's good for you to go down and experience the wildlife for a bit," Joseph said coldly.
Someone opened the door.
Waverly did not struggle. It would be even more embarrassing for her to be thrown out of the car.
She got out of the car.
Boris also wanted to follow, but he was stopped by Joseph's men.
Boris prepared to take action and force his way out.
Waverly knew that he was no match for them, so she said, "You stay in the car. I want to be alone."
"According to the regulations, if you die, I can't live either," Boris said meaningfully while looking at Waverly.
"I won't die," Waverly promised and gave him a smile.
Joseph's eyes were getting darker and darker. She had never smiled at him so sincerely.
Initially, he had only wanted to scare her. He had even specially given her a way out. How difficult was it to say that she wanted to be his woman? If she really couldn't bear to say so, he would've been fine with a lie. Was she not even willing to tell him a lie?
