Chapter 831 Down In The Dumps
Seeing Stella running over, Jasper raised the corners of his mouth slightly.
Seeing his smile, Stella was relieved and smiled back. "Mom is back. She bought a small car and a motorcycle for Sandro. He's very happy about them."
"I saw. Are you planting flowers? I'll come help after we're done eating," Jasper held her hand.
Stella tried to pull her hand away. She reminded him, "My hand is dirty."
"It's okay. I have to wash my hands anyway," Jasper held her hand tightly and went to the washroom.
He turned on the tap and helped Stella wash her hands first.
Stella felt her heart melting. "Jasper, I finally know the reason why I hypnotized myself now. I don't regret it. If I hadn't done so, I would not have been able to last a single day without you."
Jasper paused and looked at Stella. "When I left, I didn't know if I could find them either. If I died, I wouldn't let you know. You promised me that you would live well even without me."
Stella smiled. "I've given it a lot of thought. Perhaps Eli really has fallen in love with Haward, or even if she hasn't, she might in the future. I can't say for sure, as I'm an outsider. All I can do is wish her the best. I can't control her."
"Yes, if they are destined to be together, they will find their way back to each other. If their fates don't align, it'll be very hard for them to get together," Jasper uttered in a low voice, his eyes turning red.
He almost lost her, and he almost couldn't be by her side. "A life without love may not be hard. Perhaps, it is love that causes suffering. Life is unpredictable. We should stay together."
Stella nodded and changed the subject, "By the way, your land lease was approved. Tomorrow, I'll invite a designer over to see what we should do."
"Milton Corp has a department that specializes in real estate. I'll ask the person-in-charge to contact you. You and him will have a lot of details to discuss and go through. Although it's a military base, you'll receive a lot of criticism if you don't do it well," Jasper reminded.
"I will try my best. How about I make a phone call to him later in the afternoon?"
"Sure, that sounds good. Just tell him your ideas and he'll plan accordingly. Once you're satisfied with it, we'll get the construction team to start working on it. As for the construction materials, Milton Corp has many long-term partners. Your job is mainly to understand how the soldiers feel about this. Take into account their family conditions and try to help their family with job-finding."
"I know what to do," Stella was deep in thought.
"The food is getting cold. How much time do you guys need to wash your hands? Come and eat," Suzi teased.
Stella blushed slightly and went to eat.
"It's been a long time since I've tasted your soup, Stella. Everything tastes so good," Suzi sighed.
Anthea fed some of the omelet to Sandro. He danced with joy as he munched down on it. When he saw Stella looking at him, he made a silly face to make her laugh.
"I'm free this weekend. Let's go fishing at the manor," Jasper said to Stella.
"Sounds good. The fish there are nice to eat since they're all wild fish," Suzi answered for Stella.
Jasper's cell phone rang all of a sudden and he glanced down at the caller ID. With a solemn expression, he answered, "Tonight? Okay, 6 p.m. then. My son sleeps early."
"What's wrong? Are you going out tonight?" Stella asked.
"No, I'm not. Anthony just wants to come over to catch up," Jasper looked at Stella's confused look and explained, "He was the leader of Dark Shadow before. After I left, he took over the military base. Now he's the Vice President, and he's in charge of the agriculture and education sector."
"Would it be inconvenient with us around?"
"Not at all. I've already guessed what he's going to say to me. Let's eat first. We'll talk about these things later," Jasper scooped a serving of mashed potatoes onto her plate.
Stella turned around and gave a faint smile to Jasper. She felt that if she were to have another daughter, Sandro's position in the family would be even more precarious.
Despite this, there was still a faint sweetness lingering in her heart.
After the meal, Jasper accompanied her to the yard to plant flowers. When they were done, they went to take a nap together.
Jasper was really tired. He fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.
Stella lay on her side and stared at his handsome face.
He was exhausted, but he didn't say a word and even helped her with planting the flowers.
Jasper was a man of action. Whenever she thought of all the subtle things he did for her, she felt a surge of warmth in her heart.
Perhaps one day, she would suddenly remember everything. However, she had forgiven him no matter what he had done before, even if they made her unhappy.
In a daze, Stella fell asleep. By the time she woke up, Jasper was no longer by her side. He had gone to another meeting.
She got up and went out of the room. Sandro was outside driving his toy car again.
Suzi saw Stella and said with a smile, "Jasper told me to call Dylan when you woke up. I'll ask Dylan to contact you."
"Sorry to trouble you, Mom."
"No trouble at all, I can't wait for you to take over the real estate. I don't have that much energy. Over the past two years, all I've been handling are unfinished projects. I've had no time to start anything new."
Stella nodded. "I'm sure that they'll be even busier after this. However, this project has quite a big budget. Jasper and I are planning to give bonuses to some of the soldiers so that they can bring their families over. Will that exceed the budget?"
"Milton Corp has enough for that. Our profits are used for business, charity, and expansion. Building homes for the soldiers are considered a sort of charity. Moreover, when the time comes, we will bring in Milton Corp supermarkets and shopping malls. So, those will count towards our profits as well. Just do as you wish. I'll let you know if we're short on funds," Suzi encouraged her.
"Okay," Stella returned to the living room. After a while, Dylan called and greeted her. Jasper had already asked him to start with the designs and he promised to come up with a complete proposal within half a month.
No project was easy. He said half a month, but with all the changes to be made, it would most likely take two months. Plus, they would run into more issues along the way. For now, Stella left the designing to Dylan. She wanted to focus on the soldiers and the employment issue of their families.
She did some work for a while and then went to play with Sandro. Suddenly, she thought of Eli. She wondered if Sean had arrived in D Country.
......
In D Country.
Eli was taking her daughter for a walk. Her head was lowered and her eyes were droopy. With a heavy heart, she sighed. When she looked up, she saw Sean walking towards them.
The sun was setting, and the sky was dyed red. He looked like he was walking on a rainbow of light. Eli felt like she was dreaming.
She thought she was mistaken. There was no way Sean would show up in D Country. He looked exactly the same as he did two years ago. His physical appearance hadn't changed at all, with his stunning aura and sharp features.
While she was in a daze, he walked up to her, looked down at her adorable face, and slowly laid his eyes on the little girl in the stroller.
