Chapter 824 Getting Her Happiness Back

Realizing that she might have slipped her tongue, Eli stammered. She came up with an excuse and said, "I can't control who I like."
She felt very guilty after saying this. She pulled her hand back and fidgeted with her clothes nervously.
Stella noticed Eli's little movements.
It seemed that Eli was unwilling to tell her the reason. If she continued to ask, it would only make Eli close herself off even further.
"Eli, if you ever need help, you can call me anytime. You know I would go to the ends of the earth for you," Stella promised.
Eli's eyes were red. "Okay, you should check into the hotel first. Send me your address after you've checked in. I'll discuss the matter over with Haward and contact you after we make the necessary plans. "
"Okay, I'll talk to the people on my side as well."
"Then I'll be leaving first," Eli said bashfully as she walked towards the road.
"Eli, give me your phone number so we can contact each other again in the future," Stella said.
"Oh, right!" Eli slapped herself on the forehead. "I'm so dumb that I forgot about something so important. What's your number?"
Stella gave her phone number to Eli.
Eli dialed the number and Stella's phone started ringing.
Stella saved Eli's number into her phone and watched as Eli left hurriedly.
The Eli she knew had always been a carefree, outspoken, and straightforward person with a free and easy personality.
What on earth had happened? She had been so hesitant the entire time and she was tripping over all her words.
Stella stayed in a nearby hotel and rested for a while. Her mind was in a mess, but Jasper might be asleep, so it wasn't a good time to call him.
She got up and stood in front of the window as she called Bellamy.
"Stella? Are you alright?" Bellamy asked in a gentle voice.
"I've met Eli in D country. She said that she will use Haward's men to save Sean. I'll let her know once you've made the necessary arrangements."
"Stella, you don't have to worry about it anymore. You should rid yourself of the rest and act like you know nothing. I'll get someone to contact your friend."
"No," Stella paused. She still felt that Bellamy had to know. "Eli is married to Haward."
"What? Who is going to hold Sean back then?" Bellamy was extremely shocked.
"Despite that, Jasper and I hope that you would let Sean go," Stella said.
Bellamy remained silent. "You all have already made up your mind."
"That's right."
"Okay, as you wish. Give me Eli's number, and I'll have someone reach out to them. You don't have to worry about it," Bellamy said.
"Okay," Stella hung up the phone and called Eli.
"Stella, I'm still in the car. What's up?"
"Eli, someone will be contacting you. He will be in charge of the rescue plan," Stella said.
"Thank you, Stella. If it weren't for you, Sean would never be released from prison. Thank you, Stella," Eli's voice choked with sobs.
From her tone, Stella could tell that Eli still liked Sean a lot. Otherwise, she would not have been so excited when she heard that Sean was going to be released.
Eli had always been the type of person who would say and do whatever she wanted. Why did she become so cautious now?
Nevertheless, it seemed that there was no business left for her in D Country. Eli didn't seem like she wanted to share anything with her either, so it was best if Stella returned home. She would feel less anxious once she could talk things over with Jasper.
She booked another flight at 2 p.m. back to A Country. She had a hearty meal for lunch, then sent Jasper a text before boarding. "I'll be landing in A Country at about 2 p.m."
She shut her eyes and fell asleep as soon as she got on the plane. She only woke up when the plane had landed.
She turned on her phone as soon as she got off the plane.
Her notification tone rang repeatedly, showing a number of missed calls.
They belonged to Bellamy, Jasper, Eli, and Elvis.
She called Jasper first.
"Have you arrived?" Jasper asked.
"Yes. I didn't check in my luggage so I'm headed to the exit now."
"I'm at the entrance."
Stella smiled and felt a deep warmth in her heart.
Jasper wasn't good with words but he was certainly good with actions.
When she went out, she saw him at a glance.
He took the luggage from her hand and asked worriedly, "Are you tired from all the flying?"
"It wasn't a long flight, and I basically slept the entire time. Bellamy got someone to contact Eli directly, so he told me not to worry about things anymore," Stella said.
"He has his concerns. It'll be bad if someone catches you making an appearance. Since he has made the necessary arrangements, we should leave the rest to him then. Everything will be fine as long as Sean can be rescued."
"About Eli..." Stella paused. "I don't know how it will impact Sean. Also, I think that there is something strange going on with Eli. I asked, but she won't tell me. Could you help me get someone to check it out?"
"Okay," Jasper answered and squeezed Stella's shoulder. "Sean is a smart and resourceful man. Don't worry too much, it's pointless to worry anyway. If Eli still likes Sean, he will know what to do."
Stella nodded and called Eli back.
"Stella, have you flown back to A Country already?"
"Yes. Did that person contact you?"
"Haward is liaising with him. After Sean is rescued..." Eli paused and didn't ask further. "How is he now?"
"Eli, if you like him, then be with him. If you don't like him, then don't give him false hope. If you shatter his hope, it'll only hurt him and he'll be in despair. If you are sure that you don't want to have anything else to do with him, then don't show your concern towards him, and don't miss him," Stella reminded her.
Eli's eyes turned red and wet. Tears slowly trickled down her face. "He was caught because of me."
"I'm sure he'll come looking for you after he is released. You owe him an explanation, so don't run away from it," Stella said.
"Okay, I've got to go. I'm going to have dinner," Eli hung up as she choked on her tears.
Stella leaned on Jasper's shoulder. "We can't change others. The only thing we could do is change ourselves for the better."
"Let's talk about that next time. We'll head back first. Sandro misses you a lot. He was looking for you when he woke up this morning," Jasper changed the topic.
Stella smiled as she pictured Sandro's adorable face. "Jasper, Sandro is still young and needs to be taken care of. Could we take it slow before we have another child?"
Jasper looked at her and nodded. "We have a lot of time."
Stella smiled, put her arms around his waist, and they headed to the VIP area together.
She couldn't wait to see Sandro.
"I have applied and arranged a job for you as a counselor. The working hours are twelve to five every Thursday. The rest of the hours are up to you."
"That's a flexible job."
"Didn't you say that you wanted to build a small home in the military base? You'll have to handle that. I've already gotten the lease approved, so you'll be quite busy. If you can't handle it, just let me know," Jasper said carefully.
Stella smiled. She felt like she was getting her happiness back again...
