Chapter 1084 I’d Like To See What She Can Do
The Christmas Cactus that Joseph had given was still there, but Waverly was not present.
He frowned and gave Waverly a call with cold eyes.
"Sorry, the number you have dialed is currently unavailable," a mechanical female voice came from the phone.
Joseph frowned all the more. He made a phone call and said in a cold voice, "If Waverly goes to Bellamy, call me immediately."
"Yes," his subordinate replied.
Joseph went out with a gloomy face and returned to his room. The more he thought about it, the more irritated he became. He called Joshua and ordered, "When Waverly comes back, call me immediately."
"Yes, I'll send someone to constantly stand guard in front of Madam's door," Joshua replied.
Joseph stared at the screen of his mobile phone and felt incredibly uncomfortable. Even after playing several games, he couldn't calm down at all. He called Joshua and asked, "Is she back yet?"
"Not yet."
"Send someone to the bar to look for her," Joseph ordered.
"Alright."
Joseph spent another two hours playing the game. When he saw that it was almost 11 o'clock, he grew furious. He made a phone call and said, "You haven't found her yet?"
"Mr. Mccarthy, we've searched all the bars, but we haven't found her yet. I've asked the receptionist. The receptionist said that she went out with her suitcase. Could she have returned?" Joshua reported.
"What? She took her luggage and left? Why didn't you report this matter to me?" Joseph said angrily.
"I just found out about it. This is A Country, not M Country. It's not that easy to investigate Madam's whereabouts," Joshua reminded him.
"How hard could it be?" Joseph hung up the phone and dialed a number. "Let's meet," he said into the phone.
"We'll meet at the usual place in an hour," Beckham said, then he hung up the phone.
When he walked out of the room, he saw Joshua standing at the door.
"Follow me," Joseph said coldly.
"Yes," Joshua immediately arranged for a car.
Joseph sat in the car, furiously pinching the bridge of his nose.
Joshua's heart ached for him, "What if she never returns to M Country anymore?"
Joseph stopped, and a hint of sorrow flashed in his eyes. He narrowed his eyes and glanced at Joshua, "What do you mean by this?"
"Madam is good at everything. She doesn't follow the usual rules which puzzle people. Today, she dressed glamorously and deliberately flirted with Raven. Later onwards, Raven fell out with Yasmine for her sake. I really felt that it is too dangerous for her to stay with you. If she doesn't return to M Country anymore, I think that would be a good thing for you too," Joshua, ever the straightforward person, explained fearlessly..
Joseph gritted his teeth and kept a complex expression on his uncertain face. He looked out of the window, but his face turned even darker as he stayed silent.
Joshua couldn't understand what Joseph was thinking. His mind went blank. He had no idea whether it was from the coldness emanating from Joseph, or the uneasiness in his heart, but he felt a chill down his spine and a gust of cold wind blowing towards him.
An hour later, Joseph arrived at the mountain and entered it through an underground passage.
Beckham was already there. Dressed in a white robe, in a sage-like style, he smiled at Joseph and said, "Come here and have a sip. I've just bought a variety of precious tea-leaves."
"Then, I'm in for a treat," Joseph pulled out a chair and sat down across Beckham. He took a sip of the tea brewed by Beckham and said, "It's sweet and mellow. Not bad at all."
"If it wasn't good, I wouldn't even dare to let you drink it."
"However, I am curious. You do know that by placing a snake in the President's Mansion, not only would you not be able to hurt Bellamy, but you would also create a lot of problems. Why did you still do so? That was a little irrational of you," Joseph said, sipping the tea slowly.
"Sean wants to go back to the President's Mansion. That snake was randomly placed there. This time, wasn't he hurt as well?" Beckham said.
"That must be the reason as to why he told us about the secret passage," Joseph said. It seemed that there were plenty of meanings behind his sentence.
Beckham sighed, "Sean used to be an unfathomable person, but he got hurt by a woman who was troublesome. Otherwise, no one could have shaken his position."
"There are pros and cons to that. Due to his fall, you were able to make your debut successfully. Who knows what the future will be like?" Joseph said, drinking up the tea in his cup.
Beckham refilled his cup, "Back then when Bellamy was being assassinated in M Country, he wanted to bring Waverly back. That proves that he still has feelings for that former Mrs. President."
Joseph took a sip of tea slowly, "Do you want to make an issue out of Waverly?"
"Bellamy has the power, the money, but not the woman he loves. It seems that he only has Waverly in his heart. Moreover, based on his actions, he still cares for her."
Joseph smirked, but there was no hint of a smile in his eyes, "Do you know where the former Mrs. President is now?"
"That's weird. She boarded the express flight to Mexiland. I wonder what she's up to. When she returned to M Country last time, I thought she wanted to do something big, but she did nothing at all. This time, I can't even guess what she'll be up to in Mexiland. Could it be that Bellamy arranged for her to stay there? If that's the case, then that's a good thing. We can create a lot of issues about it," Beckham said speculatively.
Joseph's eyes became colder and colder, "Do you know how Sean was dragged down?"
"Of course I do. He was dragged down because of that troublesome woman."
"Bellamy knows that better than you do. Therefore, he definitely won't allow himself to make the same mistake. Otherwise, he wouldn't have easily reached an agreement with Madam Lenny. He won't ruin himself for a single woman," Joseph said in a decisive tone.
Beckham frowned, "That seems to be the case. So, what do you want to do?"
"Continue to drive Ronaldo and Gollin away from each other. Without Gollin, Ronaldo will be like a bird without wings, living at my mercy. When I'm in power, Bellamy's allied troops will be gone. It'll also be easier for you to step up by then. Your main goal now is not to deal with Bellamy as doing so would be useless. He's being supported by Jasper, and he's very cautious. You can't deal with him on your own. You have to help me secure my power first, and then wield my power as your own," Joseph suggested.
"I see. Then, let's toast to our success in advance," Beckham raised his tea cup and clinked it with Joseph's.
"Do you have someone following Waverly?" asked Joseph casually.
"Yes, I'm keeping a close eye on her. I always think that she isn't easy to deal with," Beckham said.
"Do you need my help?" Joseph asked.
Beckham's eyes lit up, "What are you going to do?"
He placed the cup down and said meaningfully, "Didn't you want to know her purpose? I'm her cousin so I can do a lot of things. She wants to borrow the power of the Mccarthy family, yet I'm the one who has the most control."
"Okay, when she arrives in Mexiland, I'll send you her live location," Beckham said.
"I'd like to see what she can do," Joseph said insidiously and got up. "See you soon in M Country."
