Chapter 1040 For Her, I Would Be More Than Just Sad

The door was kicked open and a strong light came through. It blinded Waverly's eyes painfully. She turned her head away and narrowed her eyes.
A tall and broad man stood at the door with the light shining from behind him. Waverly could see nothing but his dark apparition.
"Joseph Mccarthy!" Hayley called out.
Waverly was stunned. She then turned and looked at him.
His face was casted and his eyes were red. His head was straight and his lips tightened as he walked towards her.
Her mind started to get clouded with all sorts of thoughts.
Joseph was out. Yazoo must have confessed. How was he doing now?
Was Ronaldo protecting him?
What happened to both the Harington family and the Mccarthy family?
What happened after Yasmine went to A Country for the negotiation?
Did she come back?
As she was deep in thought, Joseph came to her side. His eyes swept over the chain around her waist and his eyes glazed over. He looked as if he came from hell. He stared at her without saying a word, but his breath was so hot that it seemed to be able to ignite everything.
Waverly was at a loss for words as she was still in shock upon seeing him here.
Joshua entered the room. His eyes were also red. The surrounding air pressure was very low. He held the sharpened edge of a sawtooth and saw off the lock that was attached to the chain.
Joseph carried her up.
"Sir," Joshua called out worriedly.
Without a hint of expression on his face, he placed Waverly in the car and sat down beside her.
It was at this moment that Waverly realised that the clothes on his chest were stained with a bloody red colour.
She was puzzled and kept her guard up. She looked at Joseph.
Without looking at her, he silently stared in front of him. His face was even more ashen than before, but his lips were pale.
It seemed as if his body was not in a good condition.
"Let me go! Let me go!" Hayley shouted.
Waverly looked to the back of the car worriedly as Hayley was stuffed into the car by Joshua.
He then came to the driver's seat. He worriedly called out as he saw Joseph, "Sir."
"Shut up and drive the car." Joseph gave the order maliciously.
Joshua glared at Waverly. His eyes were teary, as if they were filled with a layer of mist and vapour. Then, he started driving.
Joseph didn't say a word. He leaned into his seat with his eyes closed and lips pursed. His Adam's apple was rolling up and down.
She had never seen him in such a state before. It seemed as if he was enduring heavy pain with exhaustion plastered all over him.
"If I were to die, you would be very happy, wouldn't you?" Joseph asked coldly with his eyes still closed.
Waverly did not say a word. In the past, she did hope that he would die. This was because if he died, Beckham would not have an ally, and Bellamy could finally be free from worries.
But now, with Beckham tossing him aside for Gollin, the danger had been shifted. Currently, the most dangerous rival to her was the Harington family.
If something happened to Joseph, all the power would shift to Gollin. He would replace Ronaldo soon and become Beckham's ally. Bellamy would still be in danger.
Her standpoint only revolved around Bellamy's safety.
"I don't want you to die," she said.
Joseph was stunned. He opened his eyes and looked at her in surprise. He was faced with her cold eyes.
His eyes went dull again. His gaze became deep, as if he was trying to see through her cautious mind, "Afraid that no one will be able to go up against Gollin?"
"In the past, I often heard a saying, 'Friends are not eternal, nor are enemies.' I couldn't understand it. If we have become enemies, how can we still be friends? Now I know that things are fickle in this world. We need to change according to the environment and people's interests. Enemies are able to become comrades-in-arms and friends can also become enemies," she expressed.
He smirked, but his eyes were cold, "Enemies could also become lovers that appreciate and care for each other. Do you believe in these kinds of situations?"
"Who knows? Many things have gone beyond my imagination and understanding," she replied.
Whether it was true or not, she was now in the hands of Joseph. She needed to speak with caution and weigh her words properly. To her, Joseph Mccarthy was worse than a starved wolf and more like a vicious beast.
He had once told her that if one day he went to hell, he would definitely drag her along with him.
At present, she was still struggling. She was unwilling to go to hell with him.
"Joshua, call the doctor to the Spa Club. We'll head over," Joseph instructed.
Joshua rekindled his hope and immediately made a phone call.
Joseph looked at Waverly with burning eyes. His eyes were not even blinking.
She looked at his clothes. The stains of red on them grew in size. She was very taken aback. On his way to them, did something happen to him? Was he forced and tortured to confess by Ronaldo?
It was probably impossible. Ronaldo understood the gains and losses from doing so. He would never extort a confession from him.
Besides, Joseph knew about Yazoo. If he confessed, he would be able to escape from danger safe and sound.
What actually happened when she was hiding for the past few days?
About an hour later, the car drove into the Spa Club. After getting out of the car, a group of doctors rushed over to Joseph's side.
She was also brought into the room.
In order to make the kidnapping more realistic, she left her bag in the taxi. Now, she had no cell phone and could not contact anyone at all. She couldn't even ask Bobe about what had actually happened. She was completely confused.
She couldn't do anything while staying in the room.
When she opened the door, there were two guards outside.
A maid came in with clothes and said to Waverly, "Madam, it's time for your shower. You can eat after cleaning up."
"Where is the girl who came with me?" Waverly asked.
"She is also taking a shower. When it is meal time, you will meet each other," the maid said.
Waverly sniffed her own body. The smell was not at all pleasant.
After the shower and under the guidance of the maid, she went to the dining room and saw Hayley.
"Madam, are you okay?" Hayley asked worriedly.
Waverly shook her head, "I'm fine."
"How did Joseph find us? Wasn't he invited to the palace? How did he come out? He also seems to be injured. This is unimaginable." Hayley's questions dropped one after another.
Waverly was also curious about these things. Hearing noises coming from outside, she got up and went to the window.
There were hundreds of military vehicles outside the door and thousands of soldiers. All of them were aiming at the room with their weapons.
Waverly was puzzled. She recognised the leader. It was Wensen Harington, Gollin's eldest son.
Was this a rebellion or a mutiny?
"What's going on? I need to see Joseph," Waverly said to the maid.
"The master ordered that no matter what happens today, you're not allowed to leave, but tomorrow, you can leave as you please," the maid said.
"I'm not leaving. I want to see Joseph. Do you understand me?" Waverly said sternly.
The maid lowered her head and said nothing.
The corners of Waverly's mouth twitched, "Hayley, now."
"Understood." Upon hearing this, Hayley knocked the maid unconscious with a single blow.
