Chapter 980 She'll Definitely Surpass Us
"How dare you offend your superior!" Yasmine was furious.
Waverly maintained the smile on her face, "If I'm your subordinate, then may I ask, who are your superiors?"
"The country and our citizens."
"So, in your eyes, the king is not your leader? Is he not above you?" Waverly shot back.
It was then that Yasmine realized that she had fallen into Waverly's trap.
If she said yes, that would mean her disobeying Mr. Harington's order was her offending her superiors.
If she said 'no' and her actions reached the king, she would be committing treason.
"You're sharp-tongued, I'll give you that. Of course, you'd be the best at playing tricks." Yasmine said sarcastically.
"I'm not playing tricks. If I were any good at that, I would still be with the President. As for being sharp-tongued, shouldn't someone working in the Ministry of External Affairs possess such a trait?" Waverly said graciously.
Yasmine was so furious that she grabbed a pen off the table and threw it on the ground, "I see you're behaving very boldly. Did the Mccarthy family give you the courage to do so?"
Waverly smiled, "Madam Lenny is famous worldwide. In addition to her excellent negotiation skills and admirable EQ, she is also open-minded. She is a fair and just person. What I'm saying here now is not to offend you nor do I need to do so. I just want to avoid any unnecessary trouble in the future."
"Get out! Get out of here!" Yasmine exclaimed angrily as she was fuming to the brim.
Without causing a bigger scene, Waverly turned and left the conference room.
With a loud bang, Yasmine slammed the door of the room shut behind her.
The others inside looked at each other, afraid to make a sound.
The meeting ended an hour later. As soon as it ended, Yasmine's phone lit up with a notification. It was a message from her mother saying, 'Come to my office.'
Thus, Yasmine headed to Madam Lenny's office on the highest floor.
She knocked on the door angrily.
"Come in," said Madam Lenny.
Although Madam Lenny had a head full of white hair, her skin was still soft and supple. In particular, her aura was very amiable and friendly, making people find her approachable.
"Mother!" Yasmine whined, her eyes full of anger.
Madam Lenny raised her head and smiled, "This is the company. If someone hears you calling me 'Mother', they might make an issue out of it."
"I'm so angry. Waverly still behaves as if she's the wife of the President. I was going to teach her a lesson, but she fought back. She's just a low-level assistant. There's no way she's going to become the President's wife in this lifetime again," Yasmine said angrily.
Madam Lenny poured a cup of tea and passed it to Yasmine, "Have a drink first."
Yasmine took the cup of tea from her pitifully. As she drank it, Madam Lenny put on some soothing music and flipped through a book.
As Yasmine finished her cup of tea, the music also came to an end.
Madam Lenny finally closed her book and asked, "Why are you so angry now?"
"That Waverly girl is too arrogant and she has an inflated ego. She's nothing but an outcast from the Mccarthy family. Why is she acting like she's some big shot?" Yasmine ranted.
"I was observing the meeting earlier. Initially, I wanted to keep an eye on the President's ex-wife. However, after watching closely, I realized you were the one being over-domineering," Madam Lenny said with a smile.
"Mother!" Yasmine cried out and pouted.
"If it wasn't for her warning, you would've made a grave mistake this time," Madam Lenny beamed.
Yasmine's face instantly turned pale. Confused, she looked at Madam Lenny and felt even more offended, "So, you're on her side too?"
"Silly girl, of course I'm on yours. However, true strength does not come from overbearing behavior. There's a very vague line between being overbearing and reckless. Only by being calm and composed can you gain control of the situation and plot your next move. On the contrary, excitement, anger, jealousy and sadness will only make you lose all rationality," Madam Lenny advised kindly.
"I'm still no match for you, Mother."
"However, Waverly managed to do so. Aren't you a few months older than she is?" Madam Lenny said in a gentle voice.
Clenching her hands into fists, Yasmine pouted and glared at Madam Lenny with bloodshot eyes.
Madam Lenny smiled at her affectionately, "She was once the wife of a president. You're the future wife of a president. There are a lot of things you can learn from her. However, she no longer has a bright future. On the contrary, you have so much laying ahead of you. Only by tolerating her for a bit can you gain everything."
"I don't like her, though. I don't like her at all. I don't want her to continue working here."
"There are many ways to get her to leave, but remember, you have to keep your hands clean so that you can remain invincible forever. If you dislike her and want her gone, you have to make use of someone else. You have to do your best to keep your hands clean, got it?"
"Mother, I get it now. I know what to do," Yasmine's eyes shone with a strange light, ferocity coursing through her body.
Madam Lenny nodded her head, "Remember to keep your mind clear. Do what you need to do when the time comes. That way, you can take others by surprise."
"Oh, I get it now. I'll be leaving now, Mother."
"Alright," Madam Lenny replied. Pressing a button on the phone, she said gently, "Sasa, invite Waverly to my office."
"Oh, okay. I'll call her in now," Sasa said as she walked over to Waverly's cubicle.
Walking over, she saw that Waverly was reading a book. Her mood was on the complete opposite spectrum of Yasmine's, as calm as tranquil waters.
"Waverly, Madam Lenny has asked for you to meet her in the office. I'm sorry for what happened just now. Miss Filthy is still young. Plus, she just returned here, so she's not very well-versed with how things are supposed to go," Sasa apologized in a good-natured voice.
"It's fine, I understand," Waverly said with a smile. With Sasa leading the way, she arrived outside of Madam Lenny's office.
Sasa knocked on the door.
"Come in," Madam Lenny beckoned.
Sasa pushed the door open and Waverly entered the office.
Madam Lenny greeted her with a smile and said, "I had the chance to visit A Country once. However, I had been on another business trip, so I didn't have the time to drop by and see you."
Waverly beamed back at her.
Madam Lenny was indeed just like the rumors said. Her entire body was brimming with the aura of a fairy, commanding the respect of anyone who saw her.
However, there was a hidden surge of ambition hidden behind her aura.
"It looks like we were destined to meet then," Waverly said with a smile.
"What do you want? Coffee, tea or juice?" Madam Lenny offered.
"Some water will do."
Madam Lenny poured a glass of water for her and handed it to Waverly, "Just now, when you were in the meeting, I happened to pass by. What you said was right. I've doted on my daughter too much in the past, and now she has become an arrogant little thing. With you by her side, I'm much more relieved."
"Yasmine's your daughter after all, but she's still a little naïve. After a few years, she'll definitely surpass us," Waverly complimented her.
