Chapter 974 Waverly, I'll Marry You

"It's not like you're going to marry me, anyway. I'm already twenty-six years old this year, and I can't spend the rest of my life as a spinster, can I? I have to take the opportunity to find a suitable candidate while I'm still young. If I wait any longer, no one will want me," Waverly said with a sneer.
Joseph stared at her and asked, "Do you really want me to marry you?"
"Of course I do. I even remember telling you this before I came back," Waverly provoked him even further.
"I'll marry you then," he said those three words in a matter-of-fact manner, making it clear that he wasn't joking.
Waverly paused and felt her heart skip a beat. She looked at Joseph in surprise, trying to decipher how he truly felt, but she still failed.
His eyes were like the abyss, nothing behind them.
"You're not going to marry Madam Lenny's daughter already?" Waverly asked suspiciously.
"I will, but I can get a divorce after that. Just give me ten years." Joseph said solemnly. His gaze was locked on her as he advanced closer to her.
Waverly turned her face and sneered.
Ten years?
Was he going to marry her after he got a divorce?
Or would he wait until he became king and had his power solidified?
Or maybe, he would wait until she was old and sick, and had nothing left...
Haha, what a joke!
"I'm sorry, but I can't afford to wait ten years for you. I'll be forty by then, so would you even be willing to marry me when the time comes?" Waverly turned around and turned off the fire on the stove.
Joseph stood behind her and looked at her shadow that was reflected on the window as he replied, "As long as you listen to me, I'll keep my word. Ten years later, I'll make sure you're the queen. Everyone will look up to you. I'll even make sure all the other queens are at your feet. When the time comes, you'll be at the top of the world."
Waverly looked at him coldly from the window, no warmth in her eyes at all. She retorted, "Do you really think that I'll believe you? Only a kid would believe your lies."
A glint flickered across Joseph's eyes. He held her chin and forced her face towards him. "Why do you make it a point to fight me? Do you enjoy doing so?"
"No," Waverly said. "Not at all."
"Don't go on the blind date." Joseph frowned and narrowed his eyes. "Otherwise, I promise that you'll regret doing so."
Waverly pushed his hand away, "You know very well that I won't regret anything I do. After all, there's no point in regretting anything."
"So you've already made up your mind?"
"I've made up my mind," Waverly confirmed as she smiled faintly.
Joseph gritted his teeth and a cold light flashed through his eyes, "Do you think that I won't lay a hand on you ever again if you do this? You've done too much for Bellamy!"
Somehow, he managed to control his temper. As his lips formed a grim line, he glared at her one last time before turning around and leaving the house.
Hayley failed to come to her senses until he had left for good, "Madam, what did he actually mean?"
Waverly was reluctant to speculate what Joseph meant.
His words could make one's hair stand on end. The more she thought about it, the more uneasy she felt. Fearing the unknown would make one's scalp go numb, make one tremble with fear and make them forget the meaning of life.
"Just pretend that you didn't hear anything. Let's have dinner," Waverly told her.
"Do we still need to continue cooking the pork cutlets?" Hayley asked.
Waverly started the fire again, "Let's have dinner in the kitchen. I need to watch the fire."
"Alright," replied Hayley as she started serving the dishes.
After dinner, Waverly asked Hayley to teach her boxing while she watched the fire.
Only by learning these skills would she be able to protect herself in the future.
They trained until eight at night. By then, the pork cutlets were done.
Waverly scooped an entire thermos full of pork cutlet, then got Hayley to send it to Thomson. She made Hayley promise that it would reach Thomson's own hands herself.
After Hayley left, she went upstairs to take a bath. As she opened the door of the bathroom, she spotted Joseph sitting on the sofa, looking at her coldly.
"When did you learn how to climb walls and windows?" Waverly sneered and found a new set of clothes from the closet.
"Come here," Joseph barked.
Of course, Waverly wasn't going to listen to him. Taking her clothes, she walked back into the bathroom.
Closing the bathroom door, she tried to lock it. However, before she could, Joseph had already pushed the door, forcing it open.
Her strength was no match for him, so naturally the door flew open.
Joseph barged in and locked the door behind him.
"You do know that I'm going on a blind date soon, do you?" Waverly frowned.
Joseph's eyes were locked onto her. His face was locked into an expression of fury as he remained silent.
"If the Moore family finds out that you're forcing yourself on their future daughter-in-law, you'll definitely lose their support," Waverly reminded lightly.
Joseph continued to stare at her, pursing his lips tightly.
Seeing that he was remaining silent, Waverly couldn't tell what he was thinking. Thus, she could only reply, "I'm sure you know that it's best for you to leave me alone."
All of a sudden, Joseph started stripping.
Waverly was frightened by his actions and subconsciously retreated backwards.
Behind her was the bathtub, so she had nowhere else to escape.
"Did you really think that you'd be able to go to your blind date tomorrow?" asked Joseph with a sneer at the corner of his mouth.
Hearing the warning in his voice, Waverly forced herself to calm down, "Then did you really think that the Moore family was my only choice?"
His hands stopped unbuttoning his shirt when he heard this. There was fire burning in his eyes, looking like he was about to swallow her whole. Gnashing his teeth together, he said, "You already belong to me."
"You know that I'm not a willing participant in all that. I'm sure you know very well how I ended up here," Waverly retorted.
"If you want to play, then I'll play along with you," Joseph said coldly, throwing his clothes on the cupboard.
Waverly scanned her surroundings, looking for an escape route. Unfortunately, there wasn't any.
Despite knowing that there was no way out, she still could not give up just like that. Thus, she ordered, "You, get out."
Undoing the belt around his pants, he continued to look at her coldly, not stopping his actions.
Waverly was starting to grow very anxious, "You're pushing it too far today."
"Well, you're the one who put me in a bad mood," Joseph said coldly.
"If you want to pleasure yourself, then go find someone else," Waverly made a dash for the door.
Grabbing her by the waist, Joseph pulled her back and slapped her across the face.
In all her life, Waverly had never been slapped like that before, not even by Bellamy.
She was livid as she struggled in his hold, "Joseph Mccarthy, let go of me! Forcing me won't feel good for either of us."
At that moment, his eyes were completely bloodshot. She could feel the anger that he had been suppressing all this time which was about to break out under her constant provocation as he replied, "Don't you already know that I like it when you resist? The more you hate it, the more I want it. Only when you do what I want, will I let you go."
"Only in your dreams will I do that!"
When he heard her reply, it was as if something had possessed him. Like a wild beast, he tore right through her clothes.
Waverly could hear the sound of her clothing being ripped apart. In that split second, she was truly terrified, so much so her entire body turned numb.
She knew that she couldn't escape. However, if she allowed this to continue, Joseph was going to humiliate her immediately.
"I'll take a shower first! Let me shower first," she said in a hurry.
Joseph stopped in his actions. Naturally he knew that she was stalling.
However, there wasn't anyone who was going to come to her rescue. Everything was under his control.
He let go of her, but his eyes were still dark.
Waverly immediately got up and covered herself with a bath towel before looking at him defensively.
"If you make me happy, then I'll tell you my next plan about Bellamy," Joseph said as he stared at her coldly.
