Chapter 1089 You, Come Here

Waverly had originally wanted to refuse the money. However, Bellamy had ended up transferring the money to her himself.
She still felt some lingering fear whenever Joseph got angry.
The most important thing was that there was no benefit at all for her to argue with him at the moment.
"Didn't you say you wanted to hire six people for me? Six people might cost millions of dollars. I rejected your ice cream because I wanted to reel in a bigger fish," Waverly frowned as she said.
"Give him his money back. Since he gave you fifty million dollars, why don't I give you five hundred million?" Joseph said pointedly.
She knew that he was filthy rich. That was good, as she could make good use of his wealth without guilt or feel like she owed him a favor.
"I'll handle it after I get back."
"You should be able to do it now."
"I only have fifty million dollars in my phone. I transferred too much before, and my account got restricted. I can only deal with transactions over the counter. When I say that I will return it, then I'll definitely keep my promise," Waverly said.
"What kind of card do you have? How shoddy. I'll make a new one for you when we get back, one without any restrictions or limits. You'll be spending a lot in the future anyways," Joseph said, waving his hand.
Waverly was puzzled.
Was he too confident in himself, or did he feel that she wouldn't have the ability to lay a finger on him? Or maybe, he already had her in his control?
"I won't pay you back," Waverly said explicitly.
The corner of Joseph's mouth curled up as he said evilly, "Then, I'll use you more, so I won't feel like I've made a mistake."
Waverly heard the hidden meaning in his words and said, "Go sleep."
"Oh, I definitely will have a good sleep," Joseph said mockingly.
Realizing that her words had sounded a bit flirtatious, she frowned.
When she was a child, she hadn't found Joseph to be bright. After he grew up, he really had become a person out of her expectations.
Waverly pretended that she had failed to hear him. She held her chin up, looking elsewhere.
She listened to the beautiful music while sitting on the boat as it floated on the river. As she felt the blowing wind and basked in the sun, she began to feel lazy and comfortable. She was reluctant to destroy this intuitive, mindless feeling.
After some time, the ship reached their final destination.
Waverly looked over at Joseph, who was still asleep.
Coincidentally, she had no idea where to go, so she told the boatman, "Let's go for another round. We'll make up the payment when we return to the shore over there."
The boatman continued rowing the boat. Waverly was also feeling a little sleepy, so she leaned against the pillar on the other side and closed her eyes. Soon, she fell asleep.
When she heard some noise, she woke up and found herself in Joseph's embrace.
She had no idea when he had come to her side.
She got up.
Joseph held her arm tightly and pressed her on top of his body once more.
Waverly said helplessly, "When did you wake up?"
Joseph looked back at her, "When we returned to the shore. You don't look pretty at all when you're sleeping. Do you have no shame at all, falling asleep here?"
Waverly remained silent.
She really felt like punching him.
"What do I need to look good for? I'm not looking for a boyfriend anyway. I just want to enjoy myself," Waverly said, unhappily pushing his hand away. She checked the time on her phone and it was almost 12 o'clock.
They had sat in the boat for nearly three hours. She asked, "How long will it take for us to arrive ashore?"
He looked at her with droopy eyes, "How would I know?"
Waverly looked at the boatman and asked politely, "Excuse me, when will we arrive ashore?"
"In about ten minutes or so," the boatman replied politely.
Joseph furrowed his brows, saying unhappily, "You're more polite to him than you are to me."
Waverly sneered as she glared at him, "Do you care?"
"Of course not." Joseph denied it without thinking. "However, when I'm in a bad mood, some people will suffer."
Joseph looked at the boatman.
The boatman failed to comprehend their conversation. Joseph looked at him coldly as he smiled slyly.
"You're really hopeless," Waverly said rudely, looking at the shoreline. "Where do you want to have lunch? I'll treat you."
"Since you have such little cash, forget it," Joseph picked up his phone and dialed a number. "Duff, It's Joseph. I'm in Mexiland right now. Let's have lunch together. Find a good place. There's something I need your help with...Yeah, right now I'm..." Joseph looked around. Then, he continued, "I'm on the river, so just send a submarine to pick us up."
Waverly was dumbfounded
"Hahaha, don't take me seriously. I'm just kidding. I'll be at Pullo Street in ten minutes. See you then," Joseph hung up the phone.
"Duff?" Waverly seemed to be familiar with that name, "Are you talking about the one from the Department of Defense, Duff Stark?"
"Do you know him too?"
"Previously I came here to interview him about his experiences. I've heard that he is in his forties, right?" Waverly asked suspiciously.
She was curious as to how an annoying person like Joseph seemed to have good connections everywhere. It was incredible that many people could be friends with him.
"Yes, he's forty-seven years old. You'll meet him soon," Joseph said, his feet a little numb due to Waverly laying on him. He moved lazily, then sat down beside her.
"Are you both close?" Waverly asked again.
Joseph raised a smile, not answering her question, "Do you think I'm close with you?"
"We've known each other since we were young and even grew up under the same roof. We are sort of close, I guess," Waverly replied.
"If you're judging how close people are by time, my position in your heart probably wouldn't be lower than Bellamy's," Joseph raised his eyebrows, yet his eyes were cold.
Waverly disliked Joseph's current tone and expression, "Are you talking about the time we met or the time we knew each other?"
"Some people don't know anything about each other even when they've known each other for 20 years or even 50 years. They may even feel annoyed whenever they talk to each other. However, despite knowing each other for only a week, some people can develop a tacit understanding with each other and have a pleasant chat. Judging from the amount of time I've known Bellamy, we haven't known each other for more than 72 hours," Joseph's mouth curved into a smile.
"Okay," Waverly responded, looking elsewhere.
He ruffled her head, "Hey, look at your hair. It's like a thorn, so cute."
Waverly was exasperated.
"Do you want a haircut too?"
He poked her on the forehead, "It's a little ugly."
Waverly couldn't find words to say.
She took a deep breath as she had already endured him for a long time. From his first appearance until now, he had been provoking her the entire time. He was acting basically the same way he had when he was a child. He wouldn't get tired of insulting her, saying that she had lost her self-confidence.
She stood up and sat opposite him, distancing herself from him.
Joseph's face instantly turned cold as he ordered, "Come here."
"Since I'm ugly and my hair is prickly, I should stay away from you," she said irritably.
Joseph narrowed his eyes and his entire demeanor was as cold as ice. He said, "I said, come here."
"Ha!" Waverly sneered as she leaned against a pillar.
She was not the kind of woman who would do whatever he wanted, nor did she want to be trampled under his feet.
She lowered her eyes, not afraid in the slightest. Mocking his posture, she said coldly, "You, come here instead."
