Chapter 1113 What Are You Laughing At?
As noble as Joseph was, he was still a person who was wild and arrogant. Despite that, he was kneeling in front of her in front of so many people.
She panicked and her heart fluttered. She was scared and nervous.
Would he suddenly flip her over?
Or would he pinch her feet hard?
Or perhaps in the next second, he would make her suffer a fate worse than death?
He untied her 'shoes' and saw the blood stains on her great toe. He gently held her foot and said, "Your toe got scraped. Are you stupid? In the jungle, if your foot has cuts, bacterial infection can easily happen."
Her feet were incredibly dirty. She felt embarrassed and wanted to pull her leg out of Joseph's grasp, but he held onto it tightly.
She explained, "I was wearing high heels before, so it was difficult to walk in the jungle. The best way for me to walk was with sandals made from grass. They were quite cool too."
"You're better off being my woman. If you serve me well, I can give you whatever you want. As for things like becoming a warrior, just leave that to other people," said Joseph with a serious look, taking off her other shoe.
The injuries on her other foot were even more severe. It could not be helped. Although she could climb trees, she had not climbed one for many years. Moreover, she was not strong enough, so she had to suffer some injuries between her efforts.
The doctor came over with the first aid kit and wanted to take Waverly's foot and check it.
Joseph's cold gaze swept across him, "Check her injuries using only your eyes."
The doctor trembled while squatting by her side. He observed her feet carefully and asked Waverly, "Are you in a lot of pain or do you feel numb?"
Waverly shook her head, "I'm fine. It's just a few scrapes."
The doctor breathed a sigh of relief and said to Joseph, "We can clean her feet with cold water containing anti-inflammatory medicine with a ratio of ten to one first. She just needs to apply some medicine before going to sleep,"
"I see," Joseph said and gave Joshua a glance.
Joshua understood at first glance and went to prepare the water for Waverly.
"I want to take a bath first," Waverly pulled her feet away and stepped on the ground.
He looked at her blankly and said, "Are you injured in other places?"
"No, I only climbed a tree. I'm not a glass doll. This little injury on my foot is not a big deal. You don't need to disinfect it and apply medicine to it. We humans have self-healing abilities. The only problem is that I didn't bring a change of clothes here," Waverly tried to tell him calmly.
Joseph stood up and looked at the woman next to him, "Bring her to take a bath and give her a new set of clothes."
"Yes, Mr. Mccarthy."
He glanced at her feet and said, "First, prepare a pair of soft slippers."
"Yes," said the woman. She then took a pair of slippers and respectfully placed them by Waverly's feet.
Waverly put the slippers on and followed the woman upstairs.
Joseph looked at her thin and weak back, his gaze sinking a little. A trace of pity and heartache flashed through his eyes, but his eyes quickly showed no emotion again.
He turned around, looked at Boris and the corner of his mouth curled up. He said, "She is quite the stubborn one. How did you persuade her to come back?"
"I told her that even if she spent three days in the tree, tired and hungry, she could not change her current condition. The only thing that she can change is the future and appreciate the existence of the people around her," Boris said calmly.
He was like a divine being, neither humble nor pushy, not lacking self-confidence at all.
Joseph walked up to him with hostility and caution flashing in his eyes. He warned, "Don't become the second Bellamy or I'll kill you myself."
Boris raised his smile, "Don't worry, I won't. She is not my cup of tea. I like girls who are gentle, lovely, different, simple and innocent. Her mind is too complicated. She is always scheming something. She is neither of those qualities at all."
Joseph looked away and said as he went upstairs, "Prepare dinner for him. He doesn't need to leave the room at night."
"Yes, Mr. Mccarthy."
Joseph pushed the door to the Waverly's room open.
Waverly was taking a shower in the bathroom. The water splashed onto the ground, making noises.
He walked to the bathroom, stopped and looked solemnly at the door.
Waverly was washing her hair when she realized that there was a figure outside the door. She wordlessly continued to wash her hair as if she had not seen him.
Three minutes later, the figure turned around and did not enter.
After taking a bath, Waverly dried her hair with a towel. Having short hair meant that it was easier to dry, a perk.
She covered herself with a towel and came out of the bathroom. Joseph was sitting on the sofa and looking at his mobile phone, not sparing her a look.
A complex look flashed in her eyes, but in an instant, her gaze became firm again. She walked towards Joseph and sat down next to him. With her chin on his shoulder, her eyes focused on his phone.
He was playing a game and was killing people all over the place.
Waverly slightly raised the corners of her mouth, "You still like to play this?"
"There aren't many men who don't like to play games, right? Bellamy doesn't play games?"
"He doesn't." Waverly said, "He spends most of his time in his study dealing with official business. He is diligent, earnest, serious and is deeply afraid of a problem arising. He does everything by himself and doesn't allow himself to make a mistake. He wants to be the best president in the history of A country."
Joseph raised his eyebrows and looked at her, "Do you like him who acts like that?"
Waverly looked into his eyes, "Rather than saying I used to like him, I think I worshipped him more. I liked the qualities he had, such as his calmness, generosity, attentiveness and his meticulousness. I also appreciated the purity of his feelings, the contributions, the loyalty and the teachings he had given me. I appreciate the fact that he helped me a lot and let me see a different world as well as understand a different kind of life."
Joseph looked at her calmly. He felt strange and his heart was full of mixed emotions.
He was happy to hear the words 'used to like him' coming from Waverly's mouth. However, did Bellamy really have so many good characteristics? Why hadn't he noticed any of them?
"Are you sure that this Bellamy you know is the same person we are talking about? He is sinister and cunning. In his world, there is only authority and no love. He cherishes his reputation, yet he is cold and cruel. He does not hesitate to ruin everything for his reputation. That so-called calmness is just his shrewdness. His generosity is also just an act to confuse an ignorant girl like you," Joseph said unhappily.
"You should understand him from different perspectives, not only from yours." Waverly did not say that because she knew that if she said so, Joseph would definitely get angry. She only replied, "I'm hungry. I haven't even eaten breakfast, lunch or dinner yet. If I lose more weight, only a skeleton will be left of me."
"I see you're aware of that. I've always told you to eat more. If you don't eat, you'll be hungry, won't you?" Joseph scolded her.
Waverly raised her smile, an innocent one and her eyebrows were curved.
Looking at her, Joseph's eyes softened and even his voice became gentler, "What are you laughing at?"
Waverly did not speak, merely smiling faintly.
According to her understanding, Bellamy was born into a world full of many twists and turns. During the first half of his life, he was constantly engaged in battles. After becoming the president, he had gained elegance, self-restraint, maturity, gentleness, perfection and was more like a man who had been graced with nobility.
As for Joseph, he was born a noble. His mother, his father and his whole family were all nobles. Although his bloodline was pure, he was evil and wicked. When he spoke ill of others, he was also straightforward, rough and wild. His character was even more flamboyant.
