Chapter 997 He Will Definitely Tear You Apart
It was not that Waverly didn't remember, but she just didn't believe it at all.
Waverly and Joseph were enemies who hated each other. Whenever they were together, she felt like the world was spinning backwards; everything felt wrong. There was no way in hell she was going to wait for him to become the President, and to think that she would have to wait for him and Yasmine to get a divorce too...
No, she would not let him be the President. She would do everything she could to stop him.
"I remember it now," Waverly answered weakly.
"From now on, don't just remember it. Make sure that it's etched into your brain forever. Do you hear me?" Joseph scolded fiercely, and his tone carried with it a threatening nature.
"I'm not deaf," Waverly complained.
Joseph's gaze turned even more vicious as he locked his gaze onto her. "This is just great. You have yet to put your arrogance away."
Joseph turned around and walked upstairs.
Waverly held his arm and frowned suspiciously. She asked warily, "Why are you going up there?"
"To sleep. Do you want to sleep together?" Joseph suggested.
Waverly released her grip. "I have to cook for you. Aren't you going to eat?"
"There are some things that are more important than eating. I wonder if you know what I mean," Joseph hinted.
Waverly looked calm, but her mind was already filled with raging waves.
What was he talking about? What was more important than eating?
"Could it be about Yasmine asking me to look for chefs or something else?" Waverly thought to herself.
She didn't get it, and she didn't want to expose herself easily. Waverly didn't want to be tricked by Joseph.
Nevertheless, it was important for a person to have a proper meal. So, she turned around and went into the kitchen.
Hayley stood up, patted her buttocks, and followed Waverly into the kitchen. "Madam, what did he mean by that? Why don't I understand what he said?"
"Joseph is indecipherable. It's not easy understanding the words that come out of his mouth. You are better off not guessing the meaning behind his words. Otherwise, you will be also be lured in by him. The best way is to just pretend like you did not hear anything. Don't overthink it," Waverly said as she took the whole chicken out of the plastic bag.
"Why is he sleeping in your room?" Hayley asked again.
Waverly shook her head. "I don't know. He may look like he does things in a ridiculous way, but in reality, he's already got a plan or scheme cooked up somewhere."
"Let me see what he is doing." Hayley picked up the phone and looked at the surveillance video footage. All signals had been cut off.
"What's going on? Did all the surveillance cameras that I installed malfunction?" Hayley was confused.
Waverly swayed towards Hayley and explained, "You won't be able to see a thing. All signals within a 100 meters radius from Joseph will be blocked."
"But, wasn't he able to answer his phone? If the signal is blocked, I don't think he'd be able to answer it."
"It's not about blocking the signal, but more of controlling what comes through. Joseph can receive signals if he allows it. Alright, enough with the questions. Help me wash the vegetables," Waverly ordered as she took out the frozen shrimps from the refrigerator.
Waverly cut the chicken into small pieces. She first poured some oil into the pot and threw in some spring onion, ginger, garlic, and pepper. Then, she added the chicken and stir-fried them until golden brown. She was supposed to use white wine in her cooking.
But as she wasn't a fan of that, she decided to replace white with a bottle of yellow wine.
Although the flavor would not be as fragrant as compared to if white wine was used, the flavor was milder which actually suited her taste more.
"Madam, I've washed the vegetables." She sniffed and asked, "Why are we cooking such delicious dishes for him? We should cook him a bad meal."
"Then, he will definitely have you killed first."
Hayley rubbed her neck and gulped. "What if he comes here to eat every day in the future?"
"He won't. It's not fancy enough for him," Waverly assured.
"How would you know?" Hayley scratched her head.
"If he comes to me for food every day, there will be gossip everywhere. He is going to marry Yasmine soon. He won't allow such gossip to spread. He will restrain himself as he wouldn't want to ruin his future over a useless woman," Waverly explained.
"It would be best if he stops coming to you. It's really annoying, but..." Hayley broke into a smile, "The President is coming the next day, right? I really want to meet him."
When Hayley mentioned Bellamy, a trace of warmth flowed through Waverly's cold eyes.
Waverly took a look at the itinerary.
The entirety of the next day would be spent in the royal palace. Bellamy would be staying in the royal palace to watch the two-hour play at night. It would be over ten at night when he finished watching it.
As the reception staff of the Department of External Affairs, she would have to stay with them in the palace.
They had only been apart for less than a month, but Waverly felt like they had been separated for a very long time. Her heart would beat rapidly whenever she thought of them seeing each other the next day.
"Madam, madam, madam," Hayley called to her three times.
Waverly came back to her senses.
Hayley laughed and joked, "Are you missing the President? Whenever I mention him, you'll go into a daze."
"If that is the case, let's not talk about that anymore. Otherwise, a fatal disaster might happen," Waverly reminded her. When she saw that the pot was already boiling, she adjusted the flames and continued to let it stew.
She prepared the pork and was ready to make roasted pork loin which would need to be roasted in the oven for a long while. Thus, she preheated the oven first.
She also made quail egg salad. As the other dishes were still being cooked, she chopped up some celery, cucumber, mint leaves and put them all into a bowl of lettuce. Then, she added some red quinoa and mixed the salad with some anchovy and lemon vinaigrette.
"Madam, you are amazing at cooking. I'm already drooling with just a whiff," Hayley praised.
"I used to take care of my father, so I naturally learned how to cook. Later, when I married Bellamy, I never had the chance to cook. Now that I'm back to living the life of a commoner, I remembered that I do indeed have the skills," Waverly chuckled softly and looked at Hayley. "Do you want to eat some chestnuts ?"
Waverly took out a white plastic bag which was filled to the brim with chestnuts.
"Chestnuts are rich with antioxidants. They can be eaten raw, roasted, or even used in soups and stews. I'll peel the skin off," Hayley volunteered.
As Waverly took out a chestnut, some of her childhood memories flashed through her mind. "I used to plant this in the yard."
"Really?" Hayley was surprised to hear that.
"I also planted strawberries, grapes, oranges, dates, peaches, and pear trees," Waverly added with a faint smile.
"Where are those trees now? They must have grown really tall after so many years."
Waverly's eyes dimmed.
Melinda had cruelly uprooted the trees Waverly planted.
Back then, Waverly couldn't understand why Melinda had to call people over and cause trouble frequently. Her parents had just gotten divorced at the time, and she couldn't help but feel a deep hatred within her. Now, she finally understood that there were just some things that one couldn't let go of easily.
Sometimes, it felt best to rain on another's parade.
Melinda wanted to torture her partner for all the grievances that she had suffered.
"Oh, you're here." A woman's voice suddenly rang from outside.
