Chapter 1086 With His Abilities, He Is The Only One In the World Who Can Do So
In Mexiland.
After Waverly took a break, she turned on her phone. It was full of notifications.
Among them, there were calls from Joseph, Yasmine, Bellamy, Hayley, Thomson, as well as a few unfamiliar calls.
Waverly called Thomson first, "Uncle, I was on the plane yesterday, so I didn't turn on my phone. After I arrived at Mexiland, I found a hotel and went to sleep immediately. I'm sorry I didn't reply to you sooner."
"You've gone to Mexiland?" Thomson asked curiously.
"Well, I wanted to head out to relax on my own. I'll be back in a few days," Waverly said softly.
"Come back. Ronaldo has decided to dub you as the Peace Lady. Joseph did a great job in fighting for the power of the Mccarthy family. That is the power of familial love," Thomson admired Joseph a lot.
Waverly sighed internally. It hadn't been easy for her that after the assassination attempt as Thomson and Joseph had grown estranged, but in an instant, everything was back to normal again.
Thomson was too upright and family-oriented. To cause disharmony between Thomson and Joseph was no easy feat. She still had to arduously go through her future path alone.
"Thank you," Waverly said.
"I didn't expect it either. I thought he was repulsive and hostile towards you all the time. It turns out he still cares about his family. We're all members of the Mccarthy family so we're connected somehow. Come back and treat him to a meal. Speaking of meals, I've missed your pork chops a lot. I had someone make them, but they weren't as good as yours. I couldn't even sleep last night because I was thinking of them," Thomson says jokingly.
"Alright, I'll be back in two days. See you then," Waverly said calmly.
"Be careful on the road. Do you have money on you?" Thomson asked. He sounded like a caring parent.
"Yes, Bellamy sent me another fifty million dollars. I have enough money."
"Ah," Thomson sighed. "He is also kind to you. After you hold the Peace Lady title, everything will get better. It's hard to say what will happen in the future."
"Well, Uncle Thomson, I'm hanging up now. I'm going out later," Waverly said in a good-natured way.
"Have a good time and relax. Tell me when you come back, and I will send a car to pick you up."
"You don't have to do that. I'll make the pork chops, and I'll bring them to you."
"You're the best. I'm hanging up then," Thomson hung up on the call directly.
Waverly looked at the caller ID on her phone, hesitating for a moment. Taking a deep breath, she made up her mind and called Joseph.
"Sorry, the number you have dialed is not available."
Waverly paused. Joseph had actually turned off his phone!
Usually, he wouldn't do so. Had something happened to him? For a moment, she was afraid, her chest tightening and her mind going blank.
However, thinking about it, a scourge like Joseph wouldn't die, not even in a thousand years.
She called Joshua.
Joshua answered her call.
She remained silent as Joshua talked first, "Mr. Mccarthy is furious. You've really gone overboard with your actions."
Waverly snorted, "Did he turn off his phone because he was angry?"
"Hmph!" Joshua let out a loud snort.
"Joseph is childish, and so are you. You win. I'm hanging up," Waverly said, hanging up the phone directly.
She didn't think that she had gone overboard. Truth be told, she hadn't come without a purpose in mind.
She had come to this place once when she was still Mrs. President. Back then, a sergeant told her that there were incredibly powerful assassins in Mexiland's black market.
Whether it was strategy, skill, or loyalty, they were all the cream of the crop. However, their prices were also sky-high.
It was normal for the price to be high, since it was equivalent to selling their lives to you. However, they could only be contracted for a year. After the contract expired, they would be set free.
Waverly contacted the sergeant from back then and she asked, "Hello, It's Waverly. Do you still remember me?"
"Oh, hello, I didn't expect you to call me. What a surprise! So, what can I do for you?" the sergeant asked in surprise.
"You told me before that there was a black market full of elites, and I want to choose two of them. Could you make the arrangements for me?" Waverly said.
"Okay, no problem. Their organizer is my friend. However, it usually takes place at night. The banquet goes from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.. It's still a little early now, so where are you?" the sergeant asked.
"I'm in the hotel. I'll treat you to a meal tonight."
"Alright, I finish my shift at 5:30 p.m. Where do we meet?" asked the sergeant.
"Do you remember the restaurant you brought me to? Since you think that restaurant has the best food, I'll see you there at six o'clock," Waverly said gently.
"Okay, see you later," the sergeant hung up on the call happily.
After finishing the call, Waverly looked at Bellamy's number. She paused for about two to three minutes, walked towards the window and looked at the traffic outside.
She had no idea what she should say to Bellamy if the call got through.
Should she thank him for his money?
It was just that saying 'thank you' seemed too shallow. Moreover, if she were to thank him, he would give her more money. She didn't want that to happen.
More importantly, she wanted her feelings to slowly die down.
She wanted to have no expectations and no hopes so that she wouldn't get hurt. That way, she wouldn't even feel wronged, sad, and disappointed.
In the end, she failed to make the call and proceeded to put on makeup. She came off as arrogant, cold, unruly, and free as she had been yesterday. Putting on gaudy earrings and black sunglasses, she went out.
She casually walked on the street. When she saw people looking at her, the corners of her mouth turned up slightly as she walked past them casually, arriving at the bridge.
Under the bridge, there were many boats for sightseeing. On the boats were people sitting in pairs or trios, holding umbrellas. Around them, beautiful music was being played in the square.
The sun was just perfect, and there were clouds in the sky, adding liveliness and color.
In the past, she had been afraid of feeling lonely whenever she went out alone. However, at that moment, she realized that it was actually not so bad to travel alone.
At the foot of the bridge, many men and women were waltzing.
Waverly put on a smile as she sat on the swing next to her. She swayed slowly as she looked at the people in front of her.
Sometimes, life could be so beautiful.
Her eyes swept from the sun, to the music and dancing, to the smile on people's faces, to the shining reflection on the lake.
Suddenly, her eyes were shrouded by a shadow.
Waverly looked up to see the person who had appeared. Joseph was standing in front of her.
Upon seeing him, she was shocked. Her sunglasses held Joseph's reflection in them.
With a stiff face, he locked his eyes on her. His face was expressionless as his body emanated a domineering aura, making everything around her disappear in an instant, leaving only him in her world.
