Chapter 806 Any Humanity Left In You?
Stella's heart melted as she looked at him.
She picked up Sandro because she was always fond of kids.
Sandro tilted his head and looked at Stella with his huge round eyes. He resembled her and Jasper very much and he was very good-looking.
"Sandro, call Mommy," Jasper said.
"Mommy, pretty, Mommy, pretty," Sandro said while pinching Stella's face.
Stella was happy and she nibbled on Sandro's hand.
Sandro was not afraid at all. A lovely smile appeared on his face when he saw Stella kissing his hand.
"Let's go inside. It's a little cold outside," Suzi said softly.
"You must have had a hard time, Mom, Thank you," Stella said politely.
Suzi held Stella tightly with tears in her eyes and said, "I didn't have a hard time. It's good that you are back now."
Suzi's eyes were red as she turned around and wiped her tears.
Stella followed them into the living room. There was another child. He was staring at her coldly with arrogant and murderous eyes.
Stella clearly saw the hatred and disgust in his eyes.
"Who is this child?" Stella asked Jasper suspiciously.
Jasper looked at Stella with worried eyes and replied, "He is Bettany's and my child, Ralph."
Stella looked at Jasper in surprise. There was a strange emotion in her heart.
It was hard to be a stepmother. She frowned when she saw Ralph's murderous eyes.
Suzi was worried that Stella might misunderstand, so she immediately explained, "This child didn't come naturally. Bettany got hold of Jasper's sperm without his consent. Nothing happened between her and Jasper."
Stella looked at Ralph and said with certainty, "You hate me."
"You're the one who killed my mother." Ralph complained.
"Ralph, she didn't kill your mother. Your mother is still alive. Even without her, your mother and I will never be together. Also, what your mother has done is unforgivable. She should be grateful that she is still alive," Jasper said sternly.
"Look, you're taking her side. I hate her. I hate all of you," Ralph shouted.
Stella smiled and said, "Anthea, please carry Sandro to the room."
She then passed Sandro to Anthea.
Anthea immediately took him to the room.
"Do you like your grandmother?" Stella asked Ralph.
Ralph looked toward the kind looking Suzi and lowered his head.
Stella looked at Jasper and asked, "Could we move out from here?"
"Why would you want to move out? Isn't it good here?" Suzi asked softly. She sounded concerned.
"I read a story a long time ago. The story goes something like this...
The female lead character's aunt was a very kind-hearted, amiable, and compassionate person.
She bought a house in the city and all of her relatives from the countryside would stay at her house whenever they went to the city. She would always welcome them with open arms.
A few decades passed. Her aunt's child grew up and got married. With the birth of their child, the house became a little crowded.
However, those relatives continued to visit and stay in her house.
Sometimes, her aunt would refuse them. However, once she refused them, those people would talk about her badly. They would say that she had no conscience and compassion. They would also say that she was disloyal and that she looked down on the countrymen, and that she was arrogant.
All she heard were negative comments.
A person who had been kind for a long time would be deemed as evil in the eyes of others, just because he had not been kind for only once.
However, a person who had never been kind all along would be quite a good person if he was just being kind once in a while.
Ralph..." Stella looked at Ralph. "This child hates me to the core and he is very stubborn. If I stay here, I will definitely have conflicts with him. If I deal with the conflicts, I might make him feel hurt. Adults will also feel sorry for this child and I would feel that I don't have the tolerance and magnanimity of an adult.
If I choose to ignore and leave it to you, you would feel annoyed and hurt on one hand, and on the other, I will be hurt.
If you help him, I will feel that you are overindulging him and make him even more arrogant. I will also feel wronged and upset.
If you guys help me, then this child would also feel upset, wronged, and even more eager to seek revenge.
"Staying with each other for a long time may lead to more conflicts. I can't change the fact that he is Jasper's child. You have the responsibility to raise him, so I will choose the best way to avoid the conflicts between us."
"No, he would not. Ralph is a sensible child. As long as you treat him well, he will be grateful," Suzi said pitifully.
Stella smiled lightly and asked, "Do you think that he looks like a sensible child now?
At work, some people might feel that the boss is good, and some might feel otherwise. That is because the boss treats each employee differently. Some employees would be grateful to the boss and work hard in turn because the boss treats them well. On the other hand, there will also be some employees who have a lot of complaints and even want to resign because the boss treats them badly.
The logic is the same. You treat Ralph well, and he knows that you are his grandmother. There is no hatred between you. Of course, you would think that he is a good child and he would think that you are a good grandmother.
But to Ralph, I am his mother's love rival. Because of me, he doesn't have a mother. He could not be with his parents, unlike other children. This is the reason why he hates me. Furthermore, this is something that will not change.
I can understand his hatred toward me. It's just like how I hated Wilson's wife, Renee.
No matter how kind and amiable I am, and how well I treat Ralph, he will still think that I am just putting on a show in front of his father, someone with ill intentions.
If that's the case, why should I waste my energy and time on unnecessary people?"
She then looked toward Suzi and continued, "I'll be very busy in the future as I'll be spending my time on my husband, my child, and work.
I too have limited energy. If I were to spend my time on other things, I would have less time to spend on people who are important to me.
I could probably calm him down for a while, but my child will get hurt. He will wonder why his mother is being so nice to the brother.
You may think that I am heartless and have no sympathy. I am just selfish. I just want to give my everything to people who are more important to me.
Therefore, I don't have time to take care of someone who hates me. I don't want to waste my time on someone who is never gonna be grateful to me. I'm sorry to disappoint you."
"Stella, you are a psychologist. Maybe you can change Ralph. He really is a sensible child," Suzi said, trying to convince her.
"I understand human nature. This child may not be bad, but he hates me. I don't have the time or energy to change him. I'm not willing to spend my time on unnecessary things. Mom, please take good care of him. To him, having you and Jasper is enough."
