Chapter 1073 Are You Annoyed?
"Haha! Why? Are you annoyed?" Yasmine continued to provoke Waverly.
"From this issue, it proves that he truly values the cooperation with Madam Lenny. Since you and Bellamy have cooperated with each other, both of you would have to bear the consequences together," Waverly replied in a low voice.
"Are you cursing me?" Yasmine said sourly.
"I'm saying it as a reminder. I can't control your thoughts. So, are we staying here for the time being?"
"You wish! We'll head back in the afternoon. Bellamy invited me for lunch. We'll get going now," Yasmine spoke happily and then hung up the phone.
At this moment, Waverly's eyes were red.
The situation felt to her like she was jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire. Just when Waverly thought the situation couldn't deteriorate any further, it had worsened.
She took a deep breath to calm herself down. Then, she made a phone call to Joseph.
He answered the phone not long after. "What's the matter?"
"The video has not been released yet, right? You don't have to do it anymore," Waverly said.
"What?"
"Although that girl is one of Yasmine's subordinates, she may not have been willing to do such things. I have no grudges against her and I don't want her to suffer the pain that I suffered before. Moreover, she is going to marry Quill," Waverly explained.
"When she chose to be against you, she can't be your friend anymore. Being kind to the enemy means being cruel to yourself. A successful person can't be soft-hearted. Otherwise, you will fail in everything," Joseph warned her.
"I'm destined to be an unsuccessful person. Yasmine said that we're leaving this afternoon. Are you coming?" Waverly asked.
He was silent for a moment before replying, "Do you want me to go with you?"
Waverly smiled. "My preference doesn't matter. It's up to you."
"Why do you sound sad?" Joseph asked doubtfully.
"Me?" Waverly shook her head and answered, "Why should I? You're the one who should be sad, isn't it? Madam Lenny and Bellamy are connected through marriage. Whether it's true or false, other people would look at it the same way. Aren't you worried?"
"Waverly, I'm connected to Yasmine through marriage. Yasmine's subordinate and Bellamy's subordinate are doing the same as well. Bellamy is also Gollin's ally. Gollin should be the one feeling worried. You do know the stakes in between. After all, they would only know the real reason behind the marriage. Other than that, it would just be a show for the group of ignorant people," Joseph said.
Waverly squinted her eyes and realized that throughout this fight, everything was an advantage for Joseph.
"Tell me honestly, how much were you involved in all these?" Waverly asked.
"Waverly, don't try to seek the truth. You will only make yourself more miserable and depressed. Sometimes, we should be smart, but there are also times that we should act ignorant. You're silly when you should be smart, and vice versa. Therefore, you've become so tired and restless," he said ambiguously.
"What do you mean by that?"
"Perhaps, Bellamy was the one who arranged that gunshot. He is not as simple as you think, nor is he as straightforward and upright as you imagined. Perhaps he has hidden secrets that he didn't want you to find out," Joseph pointed out.
Waverly was silent.
She thought of it before. She had wondered if it might be one of Joseph or Gollin's men who fired the gunshot. However, she had never thought there was a possibility that the gunshot was fired by Bellamy's own men.
At that time, Bellamy had invited her to stay in the palace, and her heart had been beating violently. She almost thought that Bellamy had feelings for her. This feeling, perhaps, was love.
Nevertheless, it turned out that there was no such thing.
From the very beginning, in Bellamy's eyes, Waverly was merely someone that he used to his advantage. She was a weapon that could quickly stabilize A Country's nation's administration.
She was very clear about that, but how could she have become more confused?
Perhaps she had too much expectation in love, and her subconsciousness blinded her heart and eyes.
Meanwhile, Joseph had hung up the phone call.
Waverly walked to the window and looked at the streets below. She stood there for a long time and stared at all kinds of people passing by. She didn't know why, but she was getting sadder and sadder as time ticked by. She even felt that her existence was as tiny as dust.
Tears rolled down her cheeks and she felt as though the warm feeling in her heart had gone away as well.
Just then, the phone rang.
She picked it up and noticed it was a call from Hayley.
She answered it.
"Madam, when are we leaving?" Hayley asked.
"Most probably in the afternoon."
"I haven't eaten yet. Madam, have you?" Hayley asked innocently. She didn't sound worried at all.
"No. Where are you? I'll take you to lunch."
"I'm in the resting area in the first floor's lobby. I'll wait for you to come down then," Hayley replied.
"Alright."
Waverly took her bag and glanced at the cactuses around. She then opened the door and went out.
When Hayley saw Waverly coming down, she ran over happily. "Madam, what shall we eat?"
"What do you want to eat?" Waverly asked back.
"Let's go to Alley Street. There are many delicious snacks there! By the way, when are we leaving in the afternoon? Is there enough time?" Hayley asked.
"I don't know. There should be enough time," Waverly said as they walked outside.
They took a taxi to Alley Street.
On the road, the taxi stopped at the traffic light, and the TV on the square was showing Bellamy and Yasmine. Bellamy was taking Yasmine to the industrial park.
On the screen, Bellamy looked so handsome. His actions were gentle and elegant, and there was always a warm, kind, and friendly smile on his face.
His gaze held so much meaning. It was just like the universe, looking as if all the edges and corners would be worn down in his eyes.
It gave a feeling of peace and comfort.
It wouldn't have been easy for him to become the president from being a soldier.
She regarded him as her mentor and spiritual leader. She genuinely admired him from the bottom of her heart. She looked up to him and trusted him.
It was just that...
Waverly's heart ached at the thought.
"The President is really handsome," Hayley also stared at the screen and praised.
Waverly looked away and said nothing.
"But I don't like to see him smiling at Yasmine. Yasmine is not a good person, and she even bullied you. The President should drive her away," Hayley pouted as she continued to complain.
"You're such a child," Waverly whispered.
"I'm not a child. I'm sixteen!" Hayley corrected her.
Waverly looked at Hayley and smiled slightly, but her eyes were devoid of emotions and as cold as ice.
"When you reach a certain point in life, you will realize that the relationship between people is no longer simply to like or dislike, but more of a relationship with benefits and expounded gains. It would no longer be a pure relationship. The more you get tied up in it, the deeper your feelings will be."
