Chapter 830 It Was Easier To Let Go Of Your Convictions

"Mrs. Milton," Anthea came over and said with a smile, "The ingredients you've requested have been delivered. When do you want to cook?"
Stella looked at the time. It was already 10.20 a.m. She should get to cooking now. "I'll do it now. You watch Sandro."
"Okay. By the way, Mrs. Milton, all the flowers and seeds you've requested have been delivered as well. I'll put them on top of the marble table. It's best if you plant the flowers and plants as soon as you can, otherwise, they might die easily," Anthea reminded her.
"Okay. Thank you," As soon as Stella went back to the courtyard, Suzi came in. She had just returned from her business trip. When she saw Stella, she smiled and said, "Where's Sandro? I miss him so much."
"Mom, you're back. He's playing in the backyard."
"Okay, let me go see him. I'll cook later," Suzi said happily.
"Mom, you must be tired from your business trip. Let me cook for you today. You just go watch Sandro. I'm sure he'll be very happy to see you return. He was asking for you before this," Stella said with a smile.
"Really? I brought a gift back for him. I think he'll like it. It's a tiny car that can be driven around. I'll give him his gift first and I'll come and eat your cooking later. I'm happy just thinking about it. When I was overseas, I ate the same room service meals every day. I'm so sick of it now."
"Then I'll go cook first. It won't take long," Stella said. She looked out and saw a soldier lifting the gifts down from the car. There was a battery-operated automated car as well as a motorcycle.
Sandro would love them. "Thank you, Mom."
"Ah, no need to thank me." Suzi chuckled and went to the backyard happily. She saw Sandro who was playing in the ball pit. "Sandro, Grandma is back."
Sandro looked at Suzi and pointed at her. "Grandma, Grandma."
Suzi went over to pick him up and kissed him twice on the face. "Let's go. I've brought you a gift. Let's go and see it."
"A gift?" Sandro learned a new word.
"Yes, a gift!" Suzi brought him over to the toy car.
When Sandro saw the car, his eyes lit up. "Car, car."
Suzi placed Sandro in the car. Regardless of whether he understood, she explained, "This is a switch. This is a steering wheel. You can use the steering wheel to control the direction. This is to go in reverse, or you can operate it with remote control. Sandro, try and drive by yourself. When you turn the corners, I'll help you with the remote control."
Sandro looked at Suzi with his wide round eyes, as if he half-understood what she said.
Suzi started the gear, and the car was turned on. She followed the car around to make sure Sandro was safe. When turning the corners, Sandro turned the wheel by himself without Suzi using the remote control.
"Sandro, you're so smart. I didn't even need to teach you and you already know how to drive," Suzi praised him.
Sandro was indeed very smart. As he drove, he familiarized himself with the controls. He even learned how to press the horn, turn on the headlights, and play music. He was having the time of his life.
Meanwhile, Stella had prepared pork chops, mashed potatoes, and omelets. When she came out, Sandro was still playing with his car.
Suzi immediately said to Stella proudly, "Look at how smart Sandro is. I didn't even teach him and he already knows how to drive."
"Yes, he likes cars more than anything else. When he gets older, we can send him to a car factory," Stella said with a smile.
Suzi laughed heartily.
"Mom, I'm going to plant the flowers," Stella said politely.
"Okay," Suzi was still smiling as she watched Sandro.
Stella grabbed the flowers and went over to the small forest. Her expression fell. Sean was probably still not in D Country yet at that moment. She wondered how things would go between them.
"Mrs. Milton, do you have something on your mind?" Lynette came over to help and asked worriedly.
"Hm? Is it that obvious?" Stella laughed awkwardly.
"You dug holes in the ground, but you didn't plant any flowers or seeds in them," Lynette reminded.
"Oh," Stella then planted the flowers. "Lynette, I have a question for you. Let's say you've fallen in love with A, but A ends up going to jail. Would you fall in love with B and start a new life?"
"I don't know. Life is too unpredictable. Maybe if I've been alone for too long, I would have feelings for someone new.
There was this girl I used to know who was a photography student. She got a boyfriend in university. She brought him home, but her family opposed their relationship because the guy was from a poor family. The two of them ended up eloping to another town. They even had their own photography studio. Sadly, they didn't make any money. To sustain their life, the man had no choice but to steal, and he ended up going to jail.
She had no one else in that town, so she moved back to her hometown. Under her parents' introduction, she met and married someone much older than her. She had a son with her new husband. But her husband spent his days frolicking outside. I couldn't understand. She worked so hard only for her husband to spend it all away. He was never around." Lynette sighed.
"Love is personal for everyone. No one else knows how the couple in the relationship is feeling. I'm too rational, but rationality may not be true love. I think I should let go of my conviction," Stella sighed.
"Mrs. Milton, are you leaving the Chief? The Chief left that year because he had no choice. You know he was seriously ill, and he didn't want you to take any risks. He would rather sacrifice himself than sacrifice you," Lynette said anxiously.
Stella wasn't talking about her and Jasper. However, when she heard what Lynette said, she felt that Lynette understood them very well.
"Do you know why I left back then?" Stella asked.
Lynette's eyes were red as she nodded. "I know. Madam Shine kept trying to persuade you but your heart was set so she had no choice but to agree. You were angry because the Chief left without saying anything. But he was just trying to make sure you weren't at risk."
Stella listened quietly, and her heart tightened, "Why would I be at risk? How serious was his illness?"
"It was very serious. He kept bleeding, and the doctors said he only had a month left to live. You found a research institute overseas and tried to use a biochemical weapon to lure them out to save the Chief. You had already been researching the antidote to that weapon. But if the people there had found out, they would have come after you for sure. So the Chief left," Lynette explained.
Stella understood, and her eyes welled up with tears. She murmured, "I wasn't angry, I was just desolate. I thought that he was dead for sure. With that in mind, I had no strength to carry on. So, I chose hypnosis. If I hadn't hypnotized myself to forget everything, I would not have been able to live on at all."
"Hmm?" Lynette looked at Stella in surprise. "Hypnosis? Amnesia?"
Stella took in a deep breath and didn't say anything else. She continued to plant the flowers.
Lynette stared at Stella. It was no wonder that she had felt like Stella was different when she came back this time. It turned out that she had forgotten the past and everything in it. Without all those burdens, she seemed so much less gloomy.
"Mrs. Milton, you and the Chief are both good people. I have no doubt that you both will live happily ever after," Lynette said.
"All I can do is try my best to make myself happy," Stella made up her mind and said.
"Mrs. Milton, the Chief is back," Anthea came over to call Stella back in for lunch.
Stella put down her small hoe and immediately walked toward the house...
