Chapter 856 You Terrified Me
"Sean, this isn't our last meal, right?" She asked skeptically.
Sean looked at her with a distant expression and replied, "No, today is our wedding day, so we should enjoy a lavish spread."
The subtext behind his words was that there would be no more delicious food like this in the future.
Therefore, it would be her loss if she did not eat them.
She picked up the cutlery and saw Reuben approaching with a very large crab dish.
Oh, right, she still hadn't tried the crab.
"Could I have the crab later this evening instead?" Eli asked.
Sean nodded slightly.
"What are you going to do with the unfinished dishes?" Eli asked again.
"Reuben usually takes care of the leftovers. He will cook fresh dishes in the evening," Sean said.
"Oh," Eli recalled that time when Reuben used to secretly keep the leftover crab that Sean and his girlfriend did not finish and gave it to her. Since she couldn't finish the dish this time, she decided to leave it for Reuben. She didn't want to waste food.
"Will I be taking lessons from Reuben later on?" Eli asked tentatively.
Frowning, Sean put his cutlery down and asked, "What do you mean?"
"I was only asking whether... I'll be taking lessons from Reuben in the future. Didn't you say earlier that you wanted him to teach me?" Eli asked hesitantly.
Sean pursed his lips together and fell silent.
She didn't need to know what he was thinking about.
Dropping the subject, he stood up and said, "Enjoy your meal."
Eli watched as Sean walked out the door before asking Reuben in a perplexed tone, "What was that all about? I don't really understand."
"Since you have just married Mr. Yaleman, you are now Mrs. Yaleman. That means that you don't need to do any servant work," There was some testiness in Reuben's voice.
"Nonsense. What servant? You might be our housekeeper, but that's just a part of your job. If I'm taking lessons from you, that's just another part of your job. If you tutor me, at least, I'll have someone to chat with," Eli said.
Reuben's expression softened. He said, "I think Mr. Yaleman was trying to say that he's not going to let you do any housework. Perhaps that was why he left in a huff. Anyway, Eudora is here. She is living in the other house. Will you meet her?"
Eli shook her head and said, "Why don't you join us and have some? Let's eat while the dishes are still warm."
"I'm not allowed to eat the food. These are the rules. I could help peel off the crab shells for you though," Reuben said.
Eli glanced at her stump and said, "Yes, it would be hard to manage all on my own. Thank you for your offer."
Seeing her cheery look, Reuben asked, "Do you not mind?"
"Are you talking about Edora? Why should I make an issue of it? It's not something I could change. I might as well enjoy the good food in front of me and try to live a carefree life. It's pointless for me to think about those unhappy times," Eli replied as she watched Reuben peel the crab.
Reuben removed the meat from the crab's leg and dipped it in the sauce.
Eli picked it up at once and said, "Mmm, it's really delicious. It's much better than the last time, and it doesn't smell bad at all."
"There is a vast lake surrounded by mountains behind the manor. I have prepared a yacht because a boat would be too dangerous. If you wish to go sailing, I will make the arrangements," Reuben said gently.
Eli nodded with a smile and said, "Reuben, could you please fetch me a computer?"
"You could bring this up with Mr. Yaleman. I'm sure that he would agree."
Eli shook her head and replied, "No, he won't."
"Why not?"
"I heard the outside world had all thought that Eli Wayne is dead. He would be worried if I have access to a computer since I could then contact the people outside."
"Well, will you do that then?" Reuben asked hesitantly.
"I won't. I'm a monster that will only bring misfortune to the people around me. I just wanted to find my childhood friends. Then again, even if I search for my friends, I'll only make all the innocent people around me suffer," Eli sighed, slumping down on the table.
"Mr. Yaleman is back," Reuben announced.
Eli turned around and saw Sean approaching her.
It turned out that he only went away for a short while.
"You may leave now," Sean told Reuben.
Reuben placed the crab down and nodded respectfully. With his head lowered, he turned around and left without looking at Eli.
Eli said nary a word, nor did she pay any attention to him. Her mind seemed to be occupied on something else while she chewed the crab meat.
Sean took the crab away from Eli and said to her, "You don't have to take any lessons from Reuben anymore. I've prepared a computer for you. You could play some computer games if you feel bored."
Eli was surprised. He had actually prepared a computer for her. Wasn't he anxious that she would contact the outside world?
Eli could not stop nodding her head as she was jubilant.
Was today her lucky day?
There was good food and a computer prepared all for her. If this was Sean's ploy of making her live a life worse than death, she hoped that it would last longer, or even forever.
Using a pair of scissors to pierce through the crab shells, Sean removed the meat with a small spoon and a skewer. Then, he dipped it into the sauce and fed it to her.
Eli took a bite of it carefully, looking at Sean in bewilderment.
He continued to help her extract the crab meat.
He had a pair of aristocratic hands, pale as alabaster, his bone structure marvelously sculpted. In short, he was exceedingly handsome.
If a man as regal as him were to peel and hand-feed crab meat to any woman, that woman would probably fall in love with him at once, wouldn't she?
Did he remove the crab shells for Eudora in the same way?
Eli smiled and tried to enjoy this moment as much as possible. That way, she would not feel at a loss when she dies.
Sean's mood inexplicably became better after seeing her smile.
He was reluctant to let her have crabs because he was worried that her wound might get infected and her tummy might get upset. However, at this very moment, he hoped that he could peel this crab forever.
Nonetheless, Eli found herself running to the bathroom, throwing up before she could finish eating the crab. She also threw up all the food she had eaten for lunch.
Her whole body was weak after throwing up. Even so, she thought that it was laughable.
Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. She was too greedy and she had eaten too much, that was why she threw up.
Sean looked at her anxiously and asked, "Why did you throw up? Do you feel sick?"
"I feel alright. Now I just want to brush my teeth and head to bed," Eli said brightly as if she hadn't just thrown up her entire day's worth of meals in one go.
"Okay, I have prepared a toothbrush for you in the room. The red toothbrush and red towel are yours," Sean said, still with a hint of worry.
Eli walked past him cheerfully and went back to the bedroom. After brushing her teeth and washing her face, she lay down in bed, closed her eyes, and instantly fell asleep.
Sean called the doctor over and said, "She gets tired easily and sleeps for more than 15 hours a day. Her appetite is poor too. She gets full after eating only a little and she would throw up if she eats too much. Why is this happening?"
"There are two reasons. It's either psychological or pathological. When I conducted a physical examination on her the last time, there seemed to be no problem with her physically. So, I suspect that it is a psychological problem," The doctor said.
Sean remembered that the doctor had advised him to take Eli to see a psychologist before. However, he did not believe that Eli will develop anorexia because she loved having food so much.
......
Eli woke up from her sleep later in the evening. Her hair stood on end when she saw Sean standing by the bedside, staring at her.
