Chapter 880 I Decided To Let Go Of The Interdependent Relationship
"Will there be side effects?" Eli was worried that the experiment might hurt others.
"There are no side effects, however, they will have to endure a bit of suffering. But for them, it is considered fortunate for them to have been selected by me. Otherwise, they wouldn't be able to afford such an expensive fee on their own. I hope that the experiment will be successful. After it succeeds, I will also give them a large sum of money," said Sean.
After hearing that, Eli was more at ease.
After breakfast, Sean instructed someone to send her to the hospital. She arrived at about 10 a.m. and was feeling a little irritated as she had woken up too late. She should have woken up earlier.
The entire 6th floor was guarded by soldiers.
Elvis brought Eli to Room 606.
Stella was still lying in bed. Next to her, the baby was sleeping in the cot.
"Stella," shouted Eli happily.
"Eli, you're here." Stella was very happy as well. Her eyes were shaped like half-moons and her complexion was glowing.
Eli gave her the gift and said, "I hope that your child will have a prosperous and long and happy life ahead."
"Thank you." Stella put the gift on the table, took Eli's hand, and asked, "He's here, isn't he?"
Eli was amazed by Stella's intellect. She knew everything and it was impossible to hide anything from her. She nodded and said, "Yes, he's here."
"Are you happy?" Stella continued to ask.
Eli knew that Stella had agreed to help her, that between her and Bellamy, she chose her.
She was touched and grateful. "I'm happy, Stella, thank you."
"We don't know what will happen in the future, but I will do what I can for now. I hope that you'll be happy. Have you been having any negative emotions recently?" Stella asked worriedly.
Eli lowered her gaze and replied, "I don't know. I know that it's not good for me, but I couldn't control myself from having those thoughts. I will just make something big out of nothing, and this sorrow causes me much pain. Logic tells me that this has nothing to do with me, and it isn't worth it for me to even remember it. By the way, Stella, will depression make people forgetful?"
Stella looked at Eli worriedly. "Yes. You could tell me if you have any concerns, I'll help you."
Eli pursed her lips and stayed silent.
"Eli, don't you believe me?" asked Stella anxiously.
"I'm afraid of the future. I don't dare to imagine the future, but I know that I'm still afraid of what is coming."
Stella knew the cause of Eli's illness. She was afraid of Hodge and the others. She was worried that Sean would die and such concerns had inadvertently brought unease and anxiety. There was a great deal of responsibility weighing on her.
The best way to cure depression was to stay away from things that would make one feel stressed. For example, if this job makes you very unhappy, then the best thing to do would be to resign. It will help you to cope with depression better after you had changed your job.
Another example would be where, if your spouse made you feel that life was worse than death, then you should stay away from that person and start a new life instead.
However, Eli's depression was caused by her fear of the future. Perhaps, Jasper's accident had also traumatized her. Only when Hodge disappears from her life that she might stand a chance of completely curing her depression.
"Wait patiently. I will help you. Jasper will support me as well."
Eli understood that she was actually helping her if she helped Sean.
"I'll wait patiently. I won't commit suicide. I will only think about all the happy things every day. Well, let's not talk about this anymore. I'm here to see the baby," said Eli, changing the subject as she looked at the baby in the cradle.
"Although your child hasn't grown up yet, she looks very much like Jasper. People always say that girls look more like their fathers while boys look more like their mothers. I think that makes sense." Eli looked at the baby carefully.
Stella was smiling gently.
"But not all of them." Eli suddenly remembered something and added, "Some children look like their fathers when they are born, but they'll look more like their mothers if they spend most of their time with their mothers."
"Actually, humans are very good at imitating others. For example, when a person often uses vulgarities in front of you, you will also subconsciously start to use such vulgarities. Another example, when partners quarrels, and there is one person who tends to say 'up to you', the other will also learn to say 'up to you' as well. When both partners' temperaments are very similar, they will naturally give the other the feeling that they are actually quite alike.
"What you mean is that, when people deal with each other, they will start imitating one another, causing others to believe that they are very similar. What about their appearance then, will there be any change?"
Stella explained, "Your demeanor will be almost similar too. Therefore, many times the husband and wife may not look alike, but everyone will say that they look similar to each other after living together for a long time."
"My child has been sent abroad and there is no one by his side. I am afraid that he will grow up to be disrespectful. I wonder who he will look alike in the future," Eli said, beginning to worry about her son again.
Stella chuckled and said, "Your son has inherited the good qualities of you and Sean. I believe that he will grow up to be good-looking no matter what. Furthermore, he has been independent since he was a child and he didn't grow up pampered. He will also understand that his life is always in danger. I believe that he will become an even more successful person than Sean in the future."
Eli nodded, not wanting to think about these things. She changed the subject and asked, "Can I carry her?"
"Of course." Eli used to be an obstetrician, so Stella trusted her deeply.
Eli picked up the baby.
The baby's body was soft, white, and chubby. Her little mouth was particularly red. She was making small sucking motions while she slept. She looked adorable.
It felt as though a flower had blossomed in Eli's heart. She asked, "Stella, does she have a name yet?"
"Angela," Stella replied. "Angela Milton."
"Like an angel. That's a really good name. I will name my baby Leslie in the future," Eli muttered to herself, amusing Stella once again.
However, things were not so peaceful on Jasper's side.
After Bellamy came to visit Stella, he went to the next room with him to discuss some important matters.
"What do you intend to do?" asked Jasper.
Bellamy was silent. The intimate photos of Waverly and Lenold had been spreading on the internet. Both of them were lying naked in bed. To be exact, Lenold was lying on top of Waverly. As for what they had done, one could tell easily.
These photos had already caused an uproar on the Internet shortly after they were published.
"What are your thoughts?" Bellamy asked Jasper.
"From a national perspective, someone seems to have deliberately published these photos since they came out right after Weldon's death. They wanted you to divorce Waverly and put pressure on the Mccarthy family. Moreover, you and the Mccarthy family have an interdependent relationship. Without their support, you will lose a powerful backer. However, if you choose to tolerate this, it won't be good because it will leave you with a cowardly image. From a personal perspective, it really depends on you," Jasper analyzed.
"A long time ago, Stella told me not to choose someone whom I don't love just because of interests. It will make my life chaotic and I will feel lonely because I'm not in love with whoever I'm with. But I insisted on my own way. Actually, she and I are like strangers who live in the same space. If she does love that man, I will let her go and live the life she wants," Bellamy said seriously.
