Chapter 920 I'm Not a Pushover

"First, you're a part of the family. Since you want to live in the lakeside courtyard, I can't stop you, so I agreed to let you live here.
Second, I came back from some shopping long after you got your party rolling. You didn't ask me if you could have a party. And if your personality is an indication of anything, you won't.
Third, I didn't join your party. You got in my way as soon as I came back. You didn't even let me return to my room, and the things I bought are still lying on the sofa.
Last but not least, I couldn't be sure if it was you who asked the two girls to pour the cocktails on me. But they are your friends, Aunt Qianna, and did you ask them anything when they poured their drinks all over me? No, you just helped them so they could scurry away," Waverly enumerated. Each and every word of hers was firm and convincing.
Qianna's face turned red, fuming from embarrassment. "Y-you, you're accusing me for something I did not do, and you're uttering complete nonsense. No wonder you didn't go back to the room. It turns out that this is a set-up."
"Whether it's a set-up or a truth, you know very well what it is, and so do I. I don't want to raise an argument with you, Aunt Qianna, and I don't want this issue to become people's tittle-tattle. I just want to go back to my room and rest. Will that be fine?" Waverly said calmly.
Qianna glared at Waverly, displeasure building on her face. She turned her face to say, "The room is yours. You can go back whenever you want to. Why did you ask me? Is this another ploy?"
"Then I'm glad." Waverly looked at Thomson and said, "Uncle Thomson, I'm going back to my room to rest. It's very late now. You should also go to bed early too. Oh right, thank you."
Thomson nodded. "Have a good rest."
Waverly returned to her room.
Thomson pointed at Qianna and said, "You're going to marry Beckham in three months. You should better behave yourself, have fewer parties, drink less, go to bed early, and behave more like a normal woman."
"This is my only pleasure. Why must you take everything away from me? When Dad was still here, he didn't control my life. Thomson, are you going to do that?" Qianna said, her nostrils flaring.
"I'm not controlling you. I simply want to remind you because you're too arrogant to a fault. Next time, you can't behave the same way when you're in A Country. There'll be more eyes on you over there," Thomson reminded.
Qianna shrieked, "Who's marrying Beckham? You're the one who arranged it. I don't even want to marry that man."
Even though Thomson felt guilty doing this to Qianna, right now, the Mccarthys needed the help of external forces to overcome adversity. "Let's stop talking about this. You should rest early too. Sleeping early will keep you from aging fast."
Thomson left.
After thinking about it, Qianna decided not to stay for the night but to go back to her own place.
Waverly walked into the bathroom and checked herself in the mirror, a light smile on her face.
Her present self had done very well all because of Bellamy's teachings. Had she retained her past temper, she would definitely not be able to take it and lash out. After all, it was those people who had filmed her and shared their out-of-context videos online. If she was more reckless, she would have been attacked very badly and felt wronged.
No one understood her, nor did they know the truth. Even if she explained with the evidence, they still wouldn't believe her.
Therefore, she had to endure, protect herself, and avoid being bullied.
On the street outside, Candy and June were walking out together. Wearing a stealth suit and a mask, Hayley stood in front of them with a stick in her hands.
"What are you trying to do?" Candy asked. "We're friends with Miss Qianna."
"I'm beating you lowlives up," Hayley rushed forward and started to hit Candy and June. They didn't have the strength to fight back and could only shout for help.
The guards on duty nearby heard the cries of help and came over. When Hayley saw that she had thrashed them enough, she calmed down and quickly disappeared into the night. These two women probably wouldn't be out to cause trouble for at least the next two months.
In Waverly's room...
Hayley scuttled in happily and said proudly, "I did it. If they bully you again in the future, I'll beat them up again."
"Don't act on your emotions. You shouldn't let anyone see what's on your mind. Don't get complacent and underestimate the enemy," Waverly said softly. "Also, you need to protect yourself."
"I've protected myself well. I wore a mask," Hayley said confidently.
Waverly said while grinning, "During the entire party, you were the only one who had a braid. Few people have this hairstyle now. Even if those two people didn't see your face clearly, they'll still know who beat them up."
Hayley suddenly came to a realization. "I'm sorry, I was wrong this time. I forgot to fully disguise myself."
"It's alright. Even if you didn't forget, their suspicions will eventually come to me. We'll just let them learn their lesson. They won't dare to be too arrogant in the future. It's very late now, Hayley. You should take a bath and sleep. Stay by my side and rest well," Waverly said gently. She didn't blame her.
"Alright." Hayley nodded and went out. She went to her room and made a phone call. "Mr. President, I'm with the Madam now. Someone bullied her today and I beat them up. The Madam has a good character."
Bellamy's eyes went dark. He instructed, "Keep up the good work and take good care of her. It's quite cold lately and she often goes out without a coat. Remember to remind her to wear one. Also, she likes cold drinks, make sure to not give her that. Take her back to A Country at the right moment."
"Mm. When will you come to see her, Mr. President?" Hayley asked, her curiosity innocent.
"I'll inform you when I do, and don't forget the skills I've taught you," Bellamy reminded her.
"Got it. Later, I'll install the monitors and ensure the Madam's safety," Hayley promised.
That night...
Waverly didn't sleep very well. Although she was very tired, her heart was kept awake by pain for some reason.
In the past, even though she and Bellamy had not slept in the same room, her heart was still at peace and she could feel a sense of warmth.
Now, Bellamy was no longer in this house. Her breathing became labored whenever she thought about this.
Since she couldn't fall asleep, she decided to get up and head out for some fresh air. When she reached the door, she seemed to have heard Bellamy ordering her around, but he wasn't beside her. There was only herself.
Now, even if she didn't wear any clothes outdoor, no one would care about her. No one would care if she was sick, or where she was hurting.
She entered the closet, took out a down jacket, and put it on before going out.
Winter in M Country was frigid, much colder than in A Country. In addition to the cold weather, there were also cold-hearted people here.
Even her own mother treated her even worse than a stranger would.
She didn't stray too far, only walking around the lake. Suddenly, she caught a glimpse of two figures in front of her.
As she walked around the lake, she saw the two figures flashing in front of her.
Even in the dead of night, someone was still guarding this place. It was impossible to leave a ghost undetected here.
If she were to wander around alone, they might just shove her into the lake.
Her vigilance peaked. As soon as she turned around, she heard footsteps rushing towards her from behind...
