Chapter 882 They Were Just Strangers Under The Same Roof

She put on some make-up hastily and adjusted her hair. Taking a deep breath, she opened the door and asked with a smile, "Yes?"
"Come and eat," Bellamy said simply.
Although it was just simple words, Waverly was overwhelmed with emotions. These were words that someone would utter only if you were family.
After her parents divorced, her father would often get drunk outside and not come home. She would always be left alone at home since she was a child. After preparing the meals, she would often tell her cat at home that it was time to eat because she was too lonely.
She had been with Bellamy for five years. Although they were never intimate, Bellamy treated her very well. He did everything with her. They ate meals, took strolls together, and went shopping with her. Even when they attended banquets, he would take care of her and refrained her from drinking too much alcohol. When she was ill, he would bring her medicine and water, and even if she had a nightmare, he would accompany her. If she was bullied by others, he would be strong and protect her.
At that time, she thought that she was the luckiest girl in the world and this would be her life forever.
However, there was no such thing as forever. Soon, things started changing.
Bellamy seemed to notice her strange behavior and asked, "Do you have any unfulfilled wishes?"
Waverly looked up at him and asked, "Would you help me to fulfill every wish I have?"
Looking at her red eyes, Bellamy nodded and replied, "I will do anything to help you fulfill your wishes."
Waverly swallowed hard and said, "When are you going to announce our divorce?"
"On the tenth day after New Years'."
Waverly nodded and said, "Okay, there are still fifteen days then. During this period, I would like us to live like a real married couple. This is my wish."
"But we are living the life of a married couple."
"No, you know what I mean," Waverly said, looking straight at Bellamy.
"Waverly, it's impossible for us to be together again after the divorce. I know that you're a good girl. Don't waste your time on me. I believe you would find someone more deserving of you than me," Bellamy said sincerely and earnestly.
"Why do you think that you're a waste of my time? What if I'm willing to, what if I just wanted to?" Waverly said and turned her face away in embarrassment. She was laughing at herself.
She was always a proud person with strong self-esteem. She could not bring herself to say those words, therefore she held back for the past five years.
Over the past two years, Bellamy had refused to be intimate with her. Once, she pretended to be drunk and seduced him, but he still did not touch her.
She knew that there was a woman in his heart all the while.
For the happiness of that woman, he was willing to sacrifice everything to be the President just to protect her.
Whatever she wanted, he would have given it to her. Even if she wanted him to let the enemy go, he would gladly do so, even if the enemy would cost him his life, he would be more than happy to do so.
That woman had once again put him in an unfavorable position in court, but he held no grudges against her. He was like a guardian angel to her.
He did not feel sorry for himself, but Waverly did. She had seen it all.
He guarded that woman while he hid his true feelings.
She, in return, guarded him and also hid her true feelings.
Whatever he had wanted to do, she would support him. She never complained nor had she exposed or made things difficult for him.
Now, she was forced to be separated from him. He said that it was because someone wanted to set him up. She believed this person was the enemy whom he had let go of in the past.
Waverly was unnerved at that moment even though she had great self-restraint and endurance, especially when Bellamy rejected her request.
She felt very embarrassed and asked bluntly, "Do you not agree to it?"
"You are being irrational right now. You'll often regret it if you make decisions rashly," Bellamy explained.
"It's my business whether I'm being impulsive. You said that you will fulfill my wish. This is my wish. We will live separate lives after the divorce. I can live my life well by myself, so don't you worry about me. You can protect her all you want," Waverly said angrily.
"Let's eat first," Bellamy said, trying to change the topic.
"No, I don't want to. Listen, it has been five years. She already has another daughter with Jasper. She will be 35 years old soon and they already have a few children. What about you? What happened to you? Setting me up and framing you is just the beginning. There will be more conspiracies in the future. At that time, you will have nothing. Why are you doing this?" Waverly snapped, venting her anger.
"You should rest if you don't want to eat. I'll call you later," Bellamy said and turned around.
Waverly slammed the door hard.
It seemed that what she just said did not affect Bellamy at all.
He would never allow others to speak ill of Jasper and Stella, including her. It was already considered polite that he did not do anything to her.
However, she felt extremely sad. She wanted to vent all her emotions and settle in despair.
Time ticked past, and she stood by the door, reminiscing everything between him and her.
She thought back on how she rejected him from the past to getting used to him eventually and falling in love with him.
Once a woman falls in love with a man who does not love her, she will inevitably suffer. Waverly was that woman. She had suffered from insomnia numerous nights. However, she tried hard to pull herself up the next day, so that she could continue to help him stabilize his position.
She often consoled herself that Stella was already Jasper's wife and she was Bellamy's wife. She would be his wife for the rest of his life, the one who would accompany him until the end of time.
However, she might even lose that status soon.
She remembered that time when she made a cake for him on his birthday and delivered it to him.
He was drinking with his buddies at that time, and he got drunk.
She heard what Bellamy said to his buddies at that time. He said, "I should listen to Stella. Don't choose someone I don't love because of interests. Otherwise, my life will not only be in a mess but also become unfortunate because I don't have someone whom I love by my side. Waverly and I are just like strangers who live under the same roof."
Strangers, loveless, a mess. She wanted to pierce a needle into Stella's heart when she heard those words.
It had been five years. She had been together with him for five years. In the end, they were nothing but a complete mess. There was no love between them. They were just strangers who lived together.
She was in so much pain that she could not breathe. Every part of her body was in pain. It felt as though several knives were stabbing her all at once.
That night, he did not come back, and she cried for the whole night. The more she thought about it, the more depressed she felt.
But fortunately, she could still stay by his side for the rest of her life.
When companionship became a luxury, all the negative emotions in her erupted at the same time. The feeling was somewhat unbearable and very uncomfortable for her.
She felt upset and she wanted to vent her anger, but there was no good way to do it. She bit her hand, and the pain suppressed her anger. When she finally calmed down, her hand was already bleeding...
