Chapter 1098 Actually, I Feel A Lot Better
Welch didn't wait for Waverly to finish speaking and hung up on the call.
"What did she say?" Joseph asked while shaking the glass of wine in his hand. He came off as aloof, seemingly not bothered at all.
"She likes Boris and Agnes. She said that she'll give me the money when she gets back."
Joseph sneered and said, "She won't be able to give you any money after she returns."
At the mention of that, Joseph's face became a little darker. He dialed Waverly's number and said, "Did you tell Welch that you would give him the money when you got back?"
"That's right."
Joseph narrowed his eyes, "Weren't you going to give the money back to Bellamy?"
Waverly sighed and gazed out of the window, "I don't have money anymore. I used too much money in the past. When I go back, I have to work hard to make money. I have to do some odd jobs."
"You haven't answered my question. Are you still going to return the money to Bellamy?" Joseph kept pursuing the same question.
"Of course, I will pay him back. Why else would I work some odd jobs?" Waverly said.
With a little relief in his eyes, he said, "During the incident in Z Country, if you hadn't caused any trouble, all the mines in Z Country would have become mine. You could've been rich enough to fight against a country by now."
Waverly was dumbfounded. The one who would be rich enough to fight against a country would be him, not her.
"Is there any way to fix my regrets in this world?" Waverly said lightly.
Joseph raised his smile, "Do you regret it now?"
Waverly sighed and stood up.
"There's still a chance for you to make the right choice," Joseph reminded. "Bring the contract over. Welch wants to buy the Thunder Gun. I promised to sell it to him for three billion dollars. He agreed to give the two people, Boris and Agnes, as gifts. They will sign a one-year agreement and he will pay for the costs."
"Three billion dollars?" Waverly was shocked. She remembered that the gun had only been hyped up to a billion dollars in the market, "Is it that expensive now?"
"Of course it's that expensive. I have already collected all the Thunder Guns from the market. The lower the supply in the market, the higher the demand. With that, the price of it will increase tremendously. If they wish to buy it from me, they will also owe me a favor in return. Why would I not do this lucrative business?" Joseph said.
"Even without the mines in Z Country, you are already rich enough to fight against a country," Waverly said.
It was not that she was deliberately flattering him. At the moment, Joseph's personal assets had surpassed the entire Mccarthy family's assets. It was not an exaggeration to say that he could fight a country with his wealth.
"There is a special mine in Z Country. I am determined to obtain it. The raw materials in it may make me a more amazing weapon than the Thunder Gun. With such a weapon, it will be much easier for me to dominate the world," Joseph said.
"Aren't you afraid that I will tell Bellamy about this news?" Waverly took the contract on the table and walked outside.
"Since I've already told you, the choice is in your hands. Don't do anything that you might regret. That is all," Joseph hung up on the call.
Waverly walked out of the door and said to Welch's subordinate, "Can you send me back to Mahaba Hotel?"
"This way, please," Welch's subordinate said respectfully.
Waverly got into the car and looked out of the window.
Perhaps because it was spring, she felt sleepy. She didn't want to move her body nor work her mind. She wanted to doze off, so she closed her eyes and soon fell asleep.
After some time, the car stopped and she opened her eyes.
"Hello, we have reached Mahaba Hotel," Welch's subordinate said.
"Thank you," Waverly got out of the car and went straight to Joseph's place. When she walked out of the elevator, she saw Joshua standing at the door.
Waverly walked towards Joshua.
Joshua turned his face away and pretended that he had not seen Waverly.
Waverly smirked as she came to him, "Will you open the door or should I knock?"
Sighing, Joshua opened the door.
Waverly pushed the door open and entered. Joseph was still sitting on the sofa, slacking off and lazing about.
Duff and Welch were present as well.
When Welch saw Waverly coming in, he stood up and said, "I've already asked someone to pick some grapes. They'll be sent over later. Newly picked ones will be fresher and more delicious."
"Thank you," Waverly walked over and looked at the sofa where Duff, Joseph and Welch sat.
Joseph occupied one sofa all by himself. Other than the seat next to Duff's, there was nowhere else to sit.
She sat next to Duff.
Joseph looked at her coldly, "Where do you think you're sitting?"
Waverly felt exasperated. She was in no mood to quarrel with him anytime soon, so she asked, "Where else do you think I can sit?"
"Come here," Joseph shouted in a commanding tone.
Waverly thought for a moment. Usually, she would refuse to cooperate for she would never follow his commands.
However, at the moment, she felt dizzy and she didn't want to contemplate too much. She didn't want to quarrel with him nor did she want to fight him. Feeling quite fatigued, she stood up and walked towards him.
Joseph held her hand and pulled her down to sit on top of him.
She thought of those flirty villainesses on TV. In reality, sitting on a man's lap was not as comfortable as sitting on the sofa.
Not to mention, she was sitting on his lap in front of other men.
Such a bold action did not suit her.
She was looking at him and he was doing the same. Her wide eyes stared into his narrowed ones.
Joseph frowned.
"Don't you think it's more comfortable for you to sit alone, instead of us squeezing in this tiny space together?" Waverly asked.
"Even since you cut your hair, your character has become like a man's. The other women who sat on my body were delicate. When you sit on my legs, I only feel that you are heavy," Joseph said.
Waverly was at a loss for words.
"You were the one who asked me to sit on your lap. Now, you're thinking that I'm too heavy. Isn't it too late for you to regret your actions?" Waverly said rudely.
Welch and Duff looked at each other.
Since Duff couldn't bear the two of them anymore, he stood up and said, "Then, I'll leave first. Call me when you need help."
Joseph looked at Duff.
An idea of mischief flashed through Waverly's mind, and she deliberately blocked Joseph's line of sight.
He frowned and looked at her.
Waverly gave him a smile, "Have you ever regretted anything, for example, in this moment right now?"
The corner of Joseph's lips curled up and he wrapped his arm around her waist. He moved her body away with ease and said, "You can't even fight back against me. Do you want to have some fun? I'll accompany you to do so then."
Waverly had no idea how to retort.
The whole situation was not fun at all. Sitting on him was something unpleasant for her as such an action did not suit her.
Joseph looked at Duff and said, "Alright then. I'm not going to see you off. The next time you come to M Country, I'll treat you to dinner."
"Okay," Duff took a look at Waverly, got up and walked outside.
Only Joseph, Waverly and Welch were left in the room.
As soon as Duff left, Welch felt quite lonely and helpless. Previously, the two of them had been rather awkward. However, now that he was alone, he felt even more uncomfortable.
"Then, I'll sign the contract first," Welch put down his signature.
Waverly tried to struggle, but Joseph's strength was so strong that she could not get out of his grasp. She retorted, "Are you going to let me sign it or not?"
"Why do I feel so uncomfortable with you doing so, though?" Joseph looked at her and asked.
Waverly smirked, "If you were to find out that I'm the more upset one now, would you feel better?"
A flurry of emotions flashed across Joseph's eyes as he replied, "Actually, I feel a lot better now."
