Chapter 988 Waverly Is Mine
"So what? Do you think your girlfriend was a virgin when you both got together? If you truly like her, you won't care about her past. If you don't like her, then don't flirt with her in the first place," Hanold said proudly.
Waverly slightly raised the corners of her mouth. She had a good impression of Hanold. He was like a little brother from next door.
The better her impression of him grew, the more she was unable to drag him into her drama.
She went into the room.
"She's here. She's here," someone said.
It was as if they wanted her to know that they had been gossiping about her.
Waverly pretended that she failed to hear that person and stood next to Hanold.
"Waverly, do you want to play a card game?" Yazoo shouted.
"I'm not good at them," Waverly answered.
"It doesn't matter. I can teach you," Yazoo smiled gently.
Waverly didn't want to refuse him and embarrass him. Moreover, it was easier for her to get into his circle of friends if they played together.
If she did not play with them, then they would not bring her along in the future.
She nodded in assent.
The boy sitting next to Yazoo took the initiative to move out of the way.
Waverly sat down.
"I'll play with you, too," Hanold said as he squeezed into the crowd.
"It's very simple. I'm the only dealer here. If your card number is larger than mine, you win. If our cards are the same, then I'm the winner. Furthermore, if the next consecutive 3 cards are of the same suit, it's a straight flush. If they're from different suits then it's a straight. Next, you compare the total of your cards with your opponent's, the bigger the better. If you get a straight, you get double the money, and triple if you get a straight flush. If all 3 of your cards are of the same rank, the other participants in the game will give you 100 dollars except for me. I'll give 5 times the amount," Yazoo explained patiently.
Waverly fixed her gaze on Yazoo. His voice was quite pleasant and particularly gentle to the ears.
Perhaps because it had been a long time since she had last seen Bernald, she saw him through Yazoo. For a moment, her eyes could not move away from his face.
Yazoo smiled, "Shall we begin?"
"Okay," Waverly answered.
"She's so cute."
"She's also gorgeous," someone said.
"I want to pursue her."
"I want to pursue her, too."
"Get lost."
The crowd was all talking about her, but Waverly ignored them. They placed their bets, which were a few hundred dollars.
She took out a hundred dollars from her wallet and placed the bills in front of her.
The audience around her all placed their money in front of her.
She was quite embarrassed. If she lost, those people would lose money with her. On the other hand, if she won, Yazoo would give her a lot of money.
Yazoo was incredibly straightforward. After he got the three cards, he flipped them over instantly and showed them to everyone.
It was a flush.
"Ah..." There was a burst of moans in the crowd.
Waverly remembered that the straight flush seemed to be three times better.
Next to Yazoo was the bookmaker who said, "Come, pay up. Hahaha."
Waverly looked at her cards and found that it was a straight.
"Ah..." another wail came from the crowd. Someone exclaimed, "It's a straight. It's so unlucky to have met a flush."
Waverly was puzzled. She looked at Yazoo and asked, "Do I have to give you three times the amount now or just one time?"
Yazoo smiled.
She really had no idea how to play.
"Three times as much," Yazoo replied.
"Oh," Waverly took out some money and gave it to the bookmaker beside Yazoo.
They finished a total of ten rounds.
Yazoo's luck was excellent as he was able to obtain cards with large numbers.
Waverly also won against Yazoo for three rounds. Her cards were quite good too. Even though she had failed to get 3 cards of the same kind, she got flushes in the three rounds she had won against him. In total, she had lost a little of her money, but not much.
The waiter came over and asked Yazoo respectfully, "Is it okay to serve the dishes now?"
Yazoo won a lot of rounds, so he couldn't possibly stop his winning streak. He asked them, "Do you want to continue playing now or do we continue after dinner?"
"Let's eat. I'm starving. Besides that, your luck is too good now. We're all afraid," someone said.
"Then, let's eat first." Yazoo said. He stood up and said to Waverly who was beside him, "You should sit next to me later."
She didn't know anyone else here except for Hanold. Moreover, she had come here to meet with Yazoo. She had met him when he was still a child, so it would be more appropriate for her to sit next to him.
They had prepared a large round table that could accommodate about twenty-five people.
Yazoo sat down in the host's seat.
Waverly sat next to him.
The waiter served the dishes and poured red wine for them.
"How much did you lose?" Yazoo asked Waverly.
"A few hundred. I don't remember that clearly. I probably didn't lose that much," Waverly said with a smile.
"It's okay. I seemed to have forgotten to tell you something," Yazoo said in exasperation.
"What is it?" Waverly asked in confusion.
Yazoo picked up his glass and clinked it with Waverly's. He smirked and said, "It's all on me if I lose."
Waverly also smiled and picked up the glass. She clinked her glass with his and drank all the red wine in it, which was only a small amount.
The waiter next to them poured more wine for them.
"Waverly, my name is Blake. May I have your attention?" a boy raised his hand and gestured.
"Um..." Waverly answered.
"What the hell do you need her attention for? Your girlfriend is still sitting next to you. Aren't you ashamed of yourself?" Hanold exposed him.
"She's not my girlfriend. She's just a chick that I brought along with me. Where's your girlfriend then? Why didn't you bring her?" Blake and Hanold exposed each other.
"We broke up, okay? So, I didn't take her with me. Didn't you tell me last time that you liked women with huge breasts and even had a crush on a waitress? Have you had sex with that waitress yet?" Hanold said with a flushed face and ears.
"I was just joking back then. Furthermore, people's tastes change. In front of true love, any standards are irrelevant," Blake explained.
"You weren't joking, but just failed in pursuing her. You don't deserve anyone's attention," Hanold said without a care for Blake's reputation.
Waverly was amused by Hanold.
She hadn't had such a down-to-earth banquet in her life for a long time.
Although they were arguing with each other, it could be seen that they were on good terms and they would not actually get mad at each other.
She liked this kind of simple and non-calculative relationship, which made her feel free and comfortable.
"Cheers, Hanold," Waverly took the initiative to say.
He was so happy that he immediately picked up his glass and said, "I feel that today is the peak of my life. Can we take photos together later?"
"Okay," Waverly answered.
"I want to take a photo with you too."
"Me too."
"Whoever is here will have a share. I want a picture too."
"Get away, Waverly is mine," Hanold said.
He was beaten by the person beside him, "When did Waverly become yours? You must be tired of living."
Waverly held her chin, watched them scuffle with each other and laughed together. Her mood was much better.
"Is it convenient for you to leave your contact? That way, I can call you when we have another gathering," Yazoo said.
Waverly thought for a moment and then agreed.
She took out her phone and showed her QR code. Yazoo scanned it and added her.
His contact ID was very simple as it only had his first name.
