Chapter 1082 Do You Like It Like This?
"Excuse me, who are you?" Willie asked. For a moment, she failed to recognize Waverly.
Joseph smiled. He held his wine glass, swirled it slowly, and locked his eyes onto Waverly. His eyes were crystal clear.
"I'm Waverly Martell," Waverly said and sat down in the vacant seat.
Willie opened her mouth in shock and looked at Yasmine.
"Why did you dress up like this?!" Yasmine furrowed her brows together.
Waverly poured herself a glass of red wine and took a sip, "Do I need your permission on how to dress up?"
"Don't you think that you'll embarrass the Department of External Affairs?" Yasmine said unhappily.
In the past, although Waverly had a cold personality, she would still dress up as a demure, gentle girl, giving off the impression that she was easy to bully.
Waverly was like a wild cat now, no, a wild leopard. She looked sexy, elegant, charming, and mysterious. She could catch everyone's attention at a glance, and Yasmine was shocked by her beauty.
Waverly answered gracefully, "I don't think I will."
"You look a lot like a notorious evil young lady," Yasmine said judgementally.
"So what if I do? Thanks for the compliment. I have never thought of myself as a notable young lady. However, there is something that I find very strange. You obviously told me that it's the Jade Peak Room on the second floor. How come we're suddenly meeting in the Gilded Jade Room on the third floor? You didn't even tell me about the change," Waverly asked with a smile.
"I told you from the very beginning that it was the Gilded Jade Room on the third floor. You are making nonsensical accusations now. What's your purpose in accusing me like this?" Yasmine denied.
Waverly's smile was charming and cold at the same time, "You're really silly. You tried to play me but you played yourself too. This is a little childish of you."
After saying that, Waverly downed the glass of wine in one go.
Ever since Waverly arrived, Yasmine realized that her presence had been completely overshadowed by Waverly, thus she felt uncomfortable. She looked at Joseph and said in a delicate voice, "Joseph."
Joseph's gaze moved from Waverly's face to Yasmine's. He was in a good mood and even his tone was more gentle than usual as he asked, "What's wrong?"
"Look at Waverly, she's really pissing me off," Yasmine whined.
"It's not like you don't know her personality," Joseph said, looking at Waverly's face again. When he saw Waverly talking to the men next to her, his eyes darkened.
"Are you Yasmine's friends?" Waverly asked.
"My name is Lyons Hadley, and he is my friend, Raven Worley. I've heard a lot about you," Lyons held out his hand to Waverly.
Waverly politely shook his hand and looked at Raven. She smiled and said, "You have a unique name."
Raven also laughed, "Right? I really want to change it."
"Why change it? Based on an author's novel, there was a peerless martial artist whose name was Corvus, a famously beautiful man with an outstanding charm and elegance. I think this name suits you very well."
Raven grew even happier. He looked at Waverly with affection in his eyes, "This is the first time meeting you, yet you are already completely different from how I've imagined you to be."
"What was your impression of me like before this?" Waverly asked.
"It was completely opposite from the feeling I have now," Raven said.
"Well, I'll have to do some soul-searching now," Waverly poured herself a small glass of red wine. She raised her cup to Raven and called his name, "Raven."
Raven immediately raised his glass and said, "Nice to meet you."
"I want to have a special name too," Lyons said enviously.
Waverly smiled, "I'll call you 'Magpie' then."
Lyons also smiled. He picked up his glass and took the initiative to propose a toast to Waverly, "A toast to the beautiful princess."
Waverly habitually put the wine in her mouth, bulged her cheeks, and swallowed it bit by bit.
Watching their interaction, Joseph's good mood disappeared. His eyes gradually darkened and his words became bitter and harsh, "Are you that desperate to be courted?"
"So, do you want to introduce anyone to me?" Waverly asked as a reply.
Joseph's eyes turned completely cold, and his face was ironic, "You're courting death."
"Last time, didn't you say that you wanted me to marry Yadriel? Yadriel isn't coming this time?" Waverly asked.
Joshua grew anxious and said angrily, "Don't push it."
"Forget it. You guys are too ferocious. I'd better not stay for dinner," Waverly got up.
Joseph glared at her and asked, "Did I tell you to leave?"
"I will see myself out," Waverly said, showing her coquettish, free, and unruly smile as she walked out of the room.
Her cell phone rang.
She thought the call was from Joseph and she took it out. She saw Bellamy was calling her instead. After a pause, she answered it and greeted him with a smile, "Hi, Bellamy."
"Hayley said that you don't want her to work for you anymore. You are so stubborn," Bellamy went straight to the point.
"Hayley complained to you again, didn't she?"
"What do you want?" Bellamy demanded as he was losing patience.
"Hayley is pretty good at fighting, but in the Mccarthy family, her skills are useless. There are many people who are better than her. In terms of IQ, she's just a child. She's too simple-minded and has no opinions of her own. I don't think she can help me much," Waverly expressed her opinion.
"I'll find another person for you."
"No, I already have a suitable candidate," Waverly refused.
"Are you rejecting my people, or are you rejecting me?" Bellamy asked straightforwardly.
Waverly stopped smiling, "I've told you, from now onwards, I want to be alone. If you think it is you who I'm rejecting, then so be it. However, between us, there is no such thing as rejection."
Bellamy frowned, and his heart seemed torn inside out. It was sore, bitter, and painful. He was so angry that he could not breathe, "I didn't handle Yasmine's problem well. I didn't think things through thoroughly enough and ignored your feelings. I didn't communicate with you effectively and chose to escape. Now that I've realized the problem, please give me a chance to correct myself."
Waverly's eyes turned red, "No, you aren't in the wrong. If I were you, I would also do the same. If you didn't deal with the matter this way, I would think that you are too ruthless and inhumane. Don't blame yourself. It's okay."
"Then, let one of my people follow you. I can't be at ease if you're alone there. I'll find someone who can help you," Bellamy requested.
"Bellamy, we can have video calls or even phone calls. I'm fine. Your people are nothing compared to those of the Mccarthy family."
"So, the person you've found will be useful?" Bellamy asked in reply.
"I'm looking for two people who aren't afraid of death. I've made my own arrangements. You're putting a lot of pressure on me by acting like this," Waverly said.
"Find at least five of those people. I'll transfer the money to your account now. That's all," Bellamy said and hung up on the call directly.
