Chapter 862 Perhaps, I Might Fall In Love
"There's a huge age difference between us. You deserve someone better than me," Sean said euphemistically.
"You are the best for me. I don't care about the age difference," Eudora said, trying her best to calm down.
"I got married yesterday," Sean said calmly.
Eudora was stunned for a few seconds before her face turned pale. "Alastair, are you joking? We were fine before. Why, did you get married all of a sudden?"
"I'm sorry if you had misunderstood in the past. I didn't restrain myself as I wasn't married before. Now that I am married, I can't do whatever I want. I couldn't possibly allow the misunderstanding to go on like this," Sean said coldly.
Eli sat in a chair and listened quietly, like a spectator.
In a love triangle, there would always be someone sad and someone happy. Sean's words will definitely hurt her.
Eudora's eyes were filled with tears. She still maintained her composure and didn't make a big fuss at all. She asked in a choking voice, "Could I meet your wife? I can't believe that you are married. It doesn't seem like it."
Sean looked at Eli and said, "That's her."
Eli could feel Sean's finger at her. She stood up, trembling with fear.
Eudora was taken aback. She thought that she would be an heiress or a socialite who could compete with her.
No, it turned out to be a woman who was neither beautiful nor elegant. She had a missing arm and she seemed to be in her thirties.
Eudora couldn't stay calm any longer. She would have accepted her fact if Sean had found someone better, even if it meant that she would be sad. After all, it was Sean's decision.
However, her looks and figure weren't even close to hers. She was older and poorer. Furthermore, she was disabled.
Having been educated well at home, she managed to hold her anger and jealousy. She looked away with a smile and asked Sean, "Would you still come to my nephew's banquet then?"
"I'll go," Sean replied.
"I won't disturb you any further then," Eudora nodded and turned away. She may seem elegant, though she was clenching her fists tightly.
"Let's go," Sean said to Eli.
Eli stood up, lowered her head, and smiled faintly.
She was once beautiful too, so she could understand Eudora's frustration. She should've been infuriated by now. However, she really did have good manners. If it weren't for her, she would have felt that Eudora was a good match for Sean.
Sean took her hand and asked, "What are you thinking about?"
Eli replied with a shrug, "I think that you're a weirdo."
"Aren't you weird too? That's why we are a perfect match," Sean held her hand as they strolled around the lakeside.
The air was very fresh in the morning. Sean had bought his villa from someone else. It had at least 50 years of history, the interior of the villa was covered with greenery.
She took a deep breath but did not answer Sean.
"I didn't have sex with Eudora," Sean said all of a sudden. "I deliberately said those words at the golf course that day to upset you. From the beginning, you're the only woman I've ever had."
Eli stared at Sean. There was a moment when she felt her heart moving for him, but her inner voice reminded her repeatedly that there was no future between them. Therefore, she should just let things run their course.
"We should head back. It'll be late after we have breakfast," Eli said, trying to change the topic as she withdrew her hand from his.
Sean's heart tightened as he grabbed hold of her arm and said, "I know why you married Haward and betrayed me. I'm sorry for misunderstanding you, and for causing you misery."
Eli looked at Sean and asked in shock, "How? How did you know that?"
"Stella told me. The reason why I'm treating you well now is not a scheme or a punishment. You know how much I liked you before, and now, I like you even more," Sean expressed his love for her.
Eli felt her heart tightening. For some reason, she could feel the knot in her heart unraveling and words rushing up to the throat.
Turning around, she said, "The people I saw back then were Hodge, Brock, and four other trusted allies. There's a mastermind behind them. This person managed all the operations. I don't know who he is, but they had our son in their hands. As for you, you're within their circle of influence. So, it's really easy for them to assassinate you if they wanted to."
Sean hugged Eli tightly. His heart ached so much that he could not utter a single word.
Eli stopped talking, enjoying a moment of peace and warmth.
After a long silence, Sean said, "I'll tell you my plans right now, so listen carefully. For the sake of your safety, I'll only say it once. Originally, I wanted you to meet our son. But I'm sure they'll be monitoring my every move, including him. Therefore, in order to protect him, I'll send him abroad."
"They already knew our marriage. They might also know that you are hugging me like this now," Eli reminded him.
"I could just tell them that the reason we got married is to trick you into falling in love with me so that I can give you a hard time. As for what I'm telling you now, they won't know. I'm equipped with anti-monitoring equipment. It's safe here," Sean explained.
"So, will you treat me badly in the future?" Eli guessed.
"No, I have already tricked you to fall in love with me, so I will not treat you badly. I will contact Stella. She is already prepared to rescue you, so I will let her save you." Sean said calmly after taking a deep breath.
He did not want to be away from her, but it was too dangerous for her to be by his side. "I still don't know how many of their men are in my team. I need time to sort them out. Will you wait for me?"
All kinds of emotions welled up in Eli's heart. Her mind was in a mess and she couldn't think things clearly.
Sean understood her qualms. He still loved her, yet she was worried that he would be shot in the head like Jasper.
Jasper didn't die, but he might not be as lucky.
"There can be a different ending for us. I could start a new life after I'm rescued by Stella, the same goes for you. Find a woman who deserves you and who could help you," Eli whispered.
That way, they will have an easier life.
"Nonsense, I only want to be with you. If I don't love you, I wouldn't have pestered you again. Since I love you, I won't give up, and I won't allow you to give up on me as well," Sean said domineeringly.
Eli turned around and looked at him. The morning sun shone on his handsome face, shrouding it in a halo of light.
Five years had passed, and those years hadn't left a trace on Sean's face. He was still handsome, especially when she looked at him at such a close distance.
However, such a good-looking person had chosen to step down from being the President for her. He had given up all other women just for her.
She had loved him before, and she might still fall in love with him again...
