Chapter 996 Don’t You Remember Anything At All?
"Sorry, I already have plans." Waverly straightforwardly refused.
"I won't take no for an answer. Otherwise, something will happen to you." Joseph hinted. After saying that, he hung up the phone, signaling Joshua to drive away.
Waverly put her mobile phone aside irritably.
Joseph was still fooling around with a few women with ease. He was not worried about the consequences at all.
Waverly had planned to look into some company registration's matters and not cook for Joseph, but he definitely wouldn't let her go so easily.
She couldn't help but feel annoyed to the bone.
He already had Yasmine. Why would he keep pestering her?
"Waverly, come to my office," Yasmine shouted.
Waverly took a deep breath and walked towards the door with a notebook in her arms.
Judie stretched out her leg sneakily, hoping to trip Waverly.
Waverly noticed her extended foot but pretended not to see it. She went around it instead.
"What a nasty person," Judie cursed.
Waverly stopped in her tracks, turned back, and swept her eyes over Judie, "You tried to trip me on purpose. Who's the nasty one now?"
"What?" Judie slammed the table and stood up. "Is this office yours? I can't even stretch my legs without being accused of that? Do you think this is the mansion of A Country's President, or do you think it's your lover's bed?"
Waverly walked towards her and slapped Judie square on the face.
"How dare you hit me!" Judie lunged onto Waverly.
Waverly remained in her stance and grabbed Judie by her throat.
Judie reached for her own throat, trying to pry Waverly's grip away. She couldn't breathe.
Waverly looked at her mercilessly and said through gritted teeth, "If you want to go against someone and harm them, you must first be aware of your own capability. I have tolerated you many times, not because I'm afraid of you, but because I do not want to argue with people like you. However, when a mosquito keeps ringing in your ear, you can't help but kill it. You'd better remember this. You can bid a blissful life goodbye."
When Waverly finished speaking, she turned around and noticed that people were taking pictures of her with their phones.
The corners of her mouth lifted, and she smiled, but it was more of a sinister smirk. She walked out of the office and went to Yasmine.
Yasmine handed over all the documents in her hand to Waverly with a blank expression. "This is tomorrow's schedule. I'm going to let you handle the cooking competition. Contact the famous local chefs, decide on the competition dishes and other matters for the competition. I do not want anything to go wrong," Yasmine directed.
"Am I the only one in charge, or will someone be helping me?" Waverly asked.
"Do you want to be fully in charge, or do you want someone else to assist you?" Yasmine provoked, with an arrogant sneer in her eyes.
Waverly thought about how alike Joseph and Yasmine were. They indeed made a great couple.
"Of course, I hope that we'd be in charge of this together. After all, you're the deputy secretary and Madam Lenny's daughter. You have many connections, don't you?" Waverly replied calmly.
"Oh, I'm sorry. If I have to be in charge of everything, why would I still need you? You should be responsible for this event. I'd also like to see the former Mrs. President's capabilities." Yasmine answered and looked toward the door. "You may leave now."
Waverly didn't want to talk nonsense with her. Hence, she turned around and left.
If two people were in charge of a project, then nothing would be amiss because if someone wanted to set her up, the other person would get in trouble, too.
However, if Waverly were alone, Yasmine would surely make things difficult for her. Moreover, when she looked at the documents, she realized that no contact information of the famous chefs were included. The competition was to take place the day after tomorrow, and time was not on her side.
She returned to the office and went silent. She wondered how she was supposed to locate the top chefs.
Celestial Aroma Restaurant.
The restaurant's name flashed through her mind.
A person like Joseph always wanted everything to be the best. Naturally, the chef he hired would be great. If he took part in the competition, it would make the restaurant famous.
Waverly could tell Joseph about this when she saw him later. Now, she had to firstly handle the registration and Madam Lenny's matters.
She went back to Yasmine's office and knocked on the door.
"Come in," Yasmine said.
Waverly pushed the door open, went in, and announced, "I'm going out to meet some of the chefs now."
"The cooking competition will be on the day after tomorrow. I hope you can get things done by today," Yasmine stated.
"I'll try my best," Waverly replied as she turned around to leave Yasmine's office.
Waverly drove the car over to the Industry and Commerce Administration to register the company. Her license would only arrive in a week, and she didn't mind as she didn't want to abuse her privilege. She quickly bought some vegetables and returned to the small courtyard by the lake.
When Hayley saw Waverly back home, she was surprised. "Madam, aren't you going to work?"
"I came out for some errands and came back early. Joseph is coming over to eat. You'd better get out of his way," Waverly alerted her softly.
Hayley raised her eyebrows and huffed, "Why is he coming over to eat? Does he not have any food? You know, when I took the dog out for a walk today, Giselle came and tried to take it away. Fortunately, I am good at martial arts and managed to get the dog back; otherwise, it would've been dead by now. If he comes to eat here, Giselle will surely stir up trouble if she finds out."
"You should hide if you see Giselle in the future. I am threatening them with a video recording to get a short period of serenity. If you purposely provoke them, it'll be an act of impulse, which will not be good for anyone," Waverly advised.
Hayley pouted and nodded, "Madam, can't you stay away from Joseph too? I don't like him very much."
She wished so dearly that she could. "Just wait a little longer. The day will come."
"What day will come?" Joseph's terrifying voice came from behind.
Waverly's hair stood on end as she turned her head to look at him.
Joseph came alone, and there was no one beside him. He locked his gaze on her viciously, with flashes of sternness and seriousness.
"Don't you need to sleep?" Waverly frowned and asked, looking at the time on her wrist. It was not even eleven yet.
Joseph pursed his lips and stared at Waverly. It was as if he had not heard her at all. He repeated his question, "What day will come?"
Waverly guessed that he had heard everything. There was no point for her to argue.
Besides, she was too lazy to argue with him. Waverly was physically and mentally exhausted from lying. She raised the corner of her mouth and responded, "Didn't you say that you would be tired of me one day? So, the day when I leave you will come."
Joseph stepped forward and held Waverly's chin with a murderous look on his face.
Hayley rushed over instantly and was about to hit him.
But with a jerk of his hand, Hayley fell to the ground. She was no match for him.
Waverly furrowed her brows anxiously.
Joseph squinted, his eyes filled with anger and hatred. He gnashed his teeth and shouted, "Waverly, do you have a bad memory or a bad brain? Did I not tell you that I was going to let you become Mrs. President once again? Don't you remember any of these at all?"
