Chapter 10 Father-in-law's Birthday.

William regarded the scene with a detached gaze, his face expressionless.

On the other hand, Todd looked at William with displeasure. This man seemed so ordinary, yet he was so composed.

Interesting.

"Can you afford to pay 300,000?" Todd wasn't the kind of thug who resorted to threats and violence at the drop of a hat.

300,000 was a fortune to the average person.

Todd didn't believe someone like William could afford it, but he still had to ask.

Courtesy before force, after all.

"Sorry, but he ran a red light, and he has full responsibility. Besides, we didn't actually collide," William said calmly.

Dominic immediately pointed at William, exploding with rage. "Are you fucking saying you won't pay?"

William looked at him indifferently, not replying.

Todd's brow furrowed slightly, glancing at the wrecked Harley-Davidson on the ground; he said, " 300,000 isn't much, just the price of a leg."

That was a threat.

A chill flashed in the corner of William's eyes, his gaze flickering.

As a scion of a wealthy family, was he short of that 300,000?

Obviously not.

But he couldn't just admit defeat and be taken for a fool.

"What if I say I don't have the money?" William said indifferently.

A group of biker men and women stared at William as if he were a fool, laughing mockingly.

Todd also touched his nose and put his hand on William's shoulder, wearing a rogue smile. "Sir, do you know who I am? I'm Todd from NH Street. Everyone calls me Todd. You can't just walk away from this without compensating something, right?"

Todd found it amusing the first time he had encountered such a fool.

Was he strong? or did he think he was some kind of capable guy?

"Look at what he's wearing, he's obviously a poor loser."

"I bet this idiot doesn't even know what a Harley-Davidson is."

"Sir, better make a call and have someone send you money. Our Todd is quite ruthless."

The group of bikers continued to mock, the women crossing their arms with disdain, the men leaning against their bikes, smoking.

Nancy was also in the crowd, leaning against a girl in leather pants and a tank top, watching with cold eyes.

"He's my cousin-in-law, a good-for-nothing, totally dependent on my cousin."

Nancy chimed in, flaunting her sense of superiority.

"Damn, he's a freeloader too? You've got some skills; why don't you teach us?"

The men and women started laughing brazenly again.

Todd also shook his head and smiled slightly. He had no respect for men who lived off women.

"How about it?" Todd asked, with a cold smirk at the corner of his eye, ready to make move.

William was silent, not saying a word.

It should be about time.

Suddenly!

William's pupils contracted as he saw a dozen red electric bikes zooming in from a distance!

"Holy shit! Where did all these delivery guys come from?"

Someone shouted, and everyone turned to look.

A sea of red electric bikes, red helmets, red vests.

Not just a dozen, but the entire intersection was flooded with a red delivery army.

At least fifty strong!

In an instant, these electric bikes surrounded the area.

"Damn! What's this, all these crappy electric bikes!" Dominic shouted, turning to William and asking, "Did you call these people?"

William nodded and said, "Yes."

Laughter erupted.

"Holy fuck! You're really an idiot. Do you think calling a bunch of delivery guys will do any good?" Percy Wheeler laughed contemptuously.

Todd shook his head, unable to articulate his disdain.

Was this guy really not a fool? To do something so embarrassing.

Was this some kind of joke trending online?

Calling delivery to save himself was truly hilarious.

Nancy was among a few people, and when she saw this scene, she couldn't help but burst into laughter.

This cousin-in-law of hers was really something else.

How could her cousin ever fall for such a man? He's just too pathetic.

Meanwhile, from the midst of the delivery army, Melissa, dressed in a black suit, with her long white legs shining under the headlights of dozens of electric bikes, walked up to William.

With just a glance from William, Melissa understood.

William had specifically told her before that his identity must not be revealed.

He really was a low-key man.

Then, she turned and looked at Todd and his group, speaking faintly, "I am William's manager. If you have any issues, talk to me."

Todd's eyes roamed over Melissa's body a few times. This woman was very attractive, with curves in all the right places.

She was no less stunning than the other girls around.

"Alright, then I'll talk to you," Todd said cheerfully. "300,000, and once we have the money, he can leave."

Melissa frowned slightly, glanced at the wrecked Harley-Davidson motorcycle on the ground, and said coldly, "Okay, but we choose to handle this by calling the police."

The police?

Todd's brow furrowed at once.

These bikers hated dealing with the police most of all.

And tonight's incident was mostly Percy Wheeler's fault. If they called the police, it certainly wouldn't end well for him.

The key point was he didn't bring his driving license today.

"Lovely lady, that's not how you negotiate; it's too insincere." Todd's face fell, and the people behind him were also gearing up.

But as they made a move, dozens of red-vested delivery brothers around them rolled up their sleeves, ready to fight.

How could they negotiate like this?

Ten people against more than forty greasy and tough guys.

What's there to talk about?

Todd also knew the situation was not in his favor, grinding his teeth with hatred, "Fine, you have the numbers; we're leaving."

With that, Todd led his people away, roaring off on their various custom bikes.

In the end, he also gave William a vicious middle finger.

Nancy also glared coldly at William, full of contempt.

Acted all high and mighty for what? A mere delivery man relied on a woman to stand up for him.

Deserved to be a freeloader for life.

Watching the departing bikers, Melissa finally breathed a sigh of relief, turning to William with respect. "Boss, are you alright?"

A bunch of brothers also asked with concern.

"I'm fine, and everyone go back," William said.

After confirming that William was all right, Melissa led the employees away.

The storm had come quickly, and it had gone quickly.

William got back on his bike and returned to the hospital.

That evening, Mary came to the hospital to see Sarah, washed up, and stayed to accompany her for the night.

William made do with a night on the bench in the hallway outside.

...

Today was his father-in-law Tyler's birthday, and after some thought, William decided to go.

As for the gift, he brought the painting worth a million given by Rex.

Rex was a somewhat famous collector in the country, and his gifts were sure to be authentic and pricey.

But William knew that his gift would probably be scorned, though he didn't mind; it was the thought that counted.

Arriving at the agreed location with Mary, Alinea Restaurant, a striking figure stood at the entrance, looking quite anxious.

Mary, dressed in a long black dress today, had her hair done up high and looked very beautiful and elegant.

But this woman was very cold to William.

William walked over lazily and joked. "Were you waiting for me?"

Mary frowned slightly, looking at William with disgust, "Did you bring a gift for my dad?"

William lifted the long gift box in his hand. "I did."

Mary didn't even look at it and turned on her heels, stepping into the hotel in her high heels.

After all, she had begged her father for a long time to bring William along.

"When we go in, don't talk nonsense. Many of my relatives and my dad's friends are here. If they say something about you, you better bear it. Today, if you bow your head and admit your mistakes to my parents, I won't divorce you," Mary reminded.

William chuckled, not really caring.

If his father-in-law knew his true identity, he'd probably have been scared enough to come out to greet him.

Seeing William silent, Mary turned back and glared, asking sharply, "Did you hear me?"

"I heard you," William replied.

The two entered the private room, where almost all of The Smith Family's relatives and Tyler's friends had arrived, making the atmosphere very lively.

"Look who's here, the great beauty Smith."

"Mary, you're late today, you'll have to drink a penalty."

"Mary, come sit by me."

The relatives greeted Mary warmly, completely ignoring William, who followed behind.

He knew he shouldn't have come.

William, although accustomed to the coldness of The Smith Family over the past two years, still felt uncomfortable being snubbed by everyone.

Tyler and his wife Margaret sat in the main seats, chatting and laughing happily with everyone.

But when Tyler saw William, he hummed coldly, blatantly ignoring his presence.

This son-in-law had really made him lose face.

Today, not only were there family relatives present, but also many of his friends, all of noble standing.

If it weren't for his daughter's sake, Tyler wouldn't have allowed William through the door.

Then, the door to the private room opened again, and outside stood a man dressed in a branded suit, looking very shiny and dapper.

William Jones was somewhat acquainted with, a true scion of wealth, possessing a significant family inheritance. In Lindwood City, he holds considerable sway and was among the suitors competing for Mary's affection.
