Chapter 193 Splurge for Once
Around six in the evening, William, who was accompanying Sarah at the hospital, received a call from George.
"Mr. Jones, don't forget about the banquet tonight. Do you need me to pick you up?"
"No, I'll get there myself," William replied.
He was curious about who he would meet. What expression Mary would have when she learned his identity. And as for Terry, would he be shocked?
"Elbert, let's go to the mall and buy some clothes. Come with me for a banquet tonight," William called Elbert, then added, "Oh, and drive your car to pick me up."
Since the last time, William and Elbert only occasionally kept in touch.
Elbert was busy now, since it wasn't easy to manage a company.
As for William's identity, Elbert knew part of it, and even that part was beyond most people's imagination.
Tonight he would introduce some resources and connections to Elbert.
"Alright," Elbert replied.
After hanging up, as William walked out of the hospital, he received an invitation from someone sent by George. Coincidentally, he ran into Anna, who was just about to get into a car, a Lincoln that was obviously bought by Terry.
Anna also noticed William and gave him a disdainful look as they briefly made eye contact.
Terry rolled down the window and said with a smirk, "Isn't this William? Where are you going? Do you need a ride?"
"No, thanks," William replied.
Terry had no intention of giving him a ride indeed, just wanted to tease him.
"Loser, did you really think I'd offer you a lift? Know your place," Terry muttered. His voice was not loudly, but everyone heard it.
In front of Mary, he acted like a gentleman, but now his true nature were exposed in front of William.
"Terry, are you done talking to this loser? Let's go," Anna sat in the passenger seat and said coldly.
Anna was upset; she had come to the hospital for a check-up and found out she wasn't pregnant.
Mary had already been pregnant twice; yet Anna wasn’t even pregnant.
Could it be because of her past abortions that she couldn't conceive now?
Watching the car drive away, William coldly smiled, wondering what expression Terry would have at tonight's banquet.
When he arrived at the meeting place, Elbert parked his newly bought Mercedes by the roadside and waved at William with a big smile, "William, over here."
Once inside the car, William noticed a beautiful, well-mannered woman with a sweet voice.
"Hello, William. I'm Elbert's girlfriend, Genesis Griffin."
William glanced suspiciously at Elbert, who was now in the driver's seat, and smiled. "Well, moving on?"
Elbert grinned and turned to talk with William, "Yeah, I moved on. It was just a lesson in life. Genesis is from my hometown and now works as my secretary. We're planning to get married at the end of the year."
William was even more surprised, then said with a smile, "Congratulations, I'll definitely attend the wedding."
The best way for a man to heal was to find someone new and then got married.
With that, the three headed straight to the mall.
This time, they were out to buy clothes, so William spared no expense, letting Genesis make all the decisions. Whatever she picked, they bought.
In front of the fitting mirror, William was in a suit, and Genesis shook her head; he tried on a sporty style, and Genesis shook her head again.
After trying on a dozen outfits, none seemed right.
Finally, they found the most fitting, comfortable, and stylish casual wear at a high-end men's store.
Looking at himself in the mirror, William could hardly believe it was him.
He looked incredibly handsome!
After three years of being downtrodden, he had almost forgotten his dashing self.
Then, they went to a watch store and bought a men's watch.
"This one," William said as he pointed to a diamond-studded watch in the display case.
He swiped his card and left in style.
A row of female attendants bowed respectfully at the door, saying, "We look forward to your next visit."
That's the power of money.
With everything ready, they walked out of the mall with two rows of high-end attendants carrying their purchases, exuding an air of grandeur with every step!
Naturally, it caused quite a stir at the mall entrance.
They had spent a total of half a million; all three were now dressed in luxurious outfits.
"Let's go," As soon as they got in the car, William calmly said.
He wondered what reactions he would get from his acquaintances when he showed up at such an important event in this outfit.
'I am coming,' William thought.
The banquet venue was located in the city center, at a very luxurious five-star hotel in Lindwood City.
The venue was grand and imposing, with a total of seven floors.
It was easy to imagine how grand the banquet would be, given that it was host there.
At this moment, the hotel had extremely strict security both inside and out, as today's attendees included major figures and business tycoons from Imperial City, as well as well-known entrepreneurs from various industries in Lindwood City. Clearly, everything had to be perfect.
At the entrance, a number of journalists had gathered, ready to capture big news.
William and his companions parked the car in a nearby parking lot and walked over.
As soon as they reached the entrance, they were captivated by the grand and vintage architectural layout.
"Let's go inside," William said.
Just as he was about to hand over the invitation to the security personnel, an Audi sped over, and a young couple got out of the car.
"William? What are you doing here?" The lead was Terry, who stylishly took off his sunglasses and glanced at William and the others, then said, "Nice outfit, must have cost a few grand. Rented ? How much per day? Didn't you say you weren't coming? So why are you here?"
Elbert was furious. He clenched his fists and said with darkened face, "What's it to you? Who are you?"
Elbert was very displeased with Terry's attitude towards William.
"Look at them, wearing those clothes likely picked out of a trash heap."
Anna was wearing a goose-yellow coat over a white pleated skirt, bare-legged with delicate skin. She crossed her arms with a look of obvious disdain on her face.
"How can you talk like that? Don't you have any manners?" Genesis couldn't stand it anymore and immediately pointed at Anna to scold her.
But Anna wasn't easily intimidated. She snorted and pointed at Genesis, asking William, "Is she the rich woman you found? She doesn’t look like much."
Genesis was furious, rolling up her sleeves and cursing, "How can you talk like that? What are you talking about? I'm Elbert's girlfriend. Do you need a beating?"
'Elbert’s girlfriend has such a fiery temper?'
William was stunned.
"What, you want to hit me? Come on, I am not afraid of you. Ugly woman."
Anna puffed out her chest and stood forward, ready for a fight.
"I bet you three are just a bunch of adulterous person who sleeping in the same bed, shameless," Anna sneered and cursed again.
"Say that again." Genesis was enraged.
William quickly pulled the furious Genesis back, shaking his head, "Forget it; she's not worth it. Let's go inside."
Genesis cursed a few more times before turning to follow William and Elbert inside.
Terry sneered and asked, "William, don't tell me you're going in."
"Yeah, why not?" William naturally turned back and shrugged.
A burst of laughter erupted, and Terry laughed so hard he bent over, stepping forward to pat William on the shoulder, "William, do you know where it is? Do you know what's happening here tonight?"
"Can't you read?" William pointed to the large characters on the brick wall above.
Terry was momentarily speechless, his expression darkening., "It isn't a place just anyone can enter. And many big shots and business tycoons from Imperial City will attend tonight's banquet, as well as many major entrepreneurs from Lindwood City. What's a loser like you doing here? If you're worried about Mary, you can wait at the door. I can even kindly get you three chairs."
The implication was simple: William couldn't get in and was only fit to wait at the door.
"Is that so?" William feigned confusion, frowning slightly. He was wondering if he should call Dylan to come and greet him at the entrance.
