Chapter 195 Mary Misunderstood

"Look at him, still bragging," Lori said, feeling deeply contemptuous. Then she added, "Shameless, a poor guy like you, and you look down on tonight's banquet?"

"What's the big deal? It was originally prepared for William," Elbert muttered under his breath.

Although the voice was low, Stanley and the others heard it.

Laughter erupted suddenly.

Stanley gave a thumbs up to Elbert and William, saying, "You guys sure know how to blow smoke. Impressive. So, you got a little share and now you're all cocky. William, how much are you worth? A few million?"

"Amazing, Elbert. Is it prepared for William? Do you even know who’s here tonight? Just because your last name is Jones, you think you can claim the throne?" Lori said. She despised Elbert and William's pretentiousness, then added, "Do you know how much Mr. Jones had invested? It would scare you to death."

"Oh? How much?" William asked with a half-smile.

"One billion. Do you know what a billion really means?" Lori gave William a disdainful look, then pressed, "You got a billion?"

"Maybe," William said with a faint smile.

"I can't even deal. How can someone be this shameless?" Lori went completely mad, covering her ears and cursing, "If you have a billion, no, if you have a million, I'll drop to my knees and sleep with you every night."

William shook his head and said, "Even if I had a million, I wouldn't sleep with you. But I will absolutely have you kneel down."

William actually looked down on her.

Lori was furious and was about to curse back, but William and the other two turned to leave.

It made Lori even angrier. She was fuming inside, swaying her hips as she chased after them, then grabbed William's arm and shouted, " Leaving, are we? Not so fast. How could trash like you get in here? Bet you snuck in."

"Lori, are you done yet? How I got in is none of your business." William was also annoyed. Lori was really bothersome. He didn't even want to argue with her, yet she kept coming over.

Stanley also walked over, and Amy pulled Lori aside, whispering, "Lori, stop it. Everyone's watching. Maybe they really did get in."

"Them? Amy, stop joking. He's just trash. I even saw him being kept by a woman last time. I bet it's the same this time," Lori said discontentedly, and her eyes automatically fell on Genesis.

It had to be Genesis, she looked very wealthy.

Although William was useless, he had good luck, being kept by women one after another.

No one knew if Mary found out, whether she would faint from anger.

Stanley hadn't paid much attention, but hearing Lori's words, his face also flickered with a cold smile.

So William had fallen so low as to sell himself. What a loser!

"William, how did you sneak in here? Tonight's event is for the elite. You can't get in without an invitation." Lori wouldn't let William off.

Then she shouted angrily, "Spill it, did you sneak in? You have some nerve. Do you even know where you are? The people here tonight are all prominent entrepreneurs and significant leaders from Lindwood City. If anything goes sideways, you gonna take the fall?"

With a few words, Lori had already condemned William and the others as utterly irredeemable.

William looked at them coldly and said, "How do you know we don't have an invitation?"

"You? An invitation?" Lori laughed. William was too boastful.

Everyone here tonight was a millionaire or billionaire.

At the very least, they had ten million.

Could William have an invitation?

"It is hilarious, William. Look at yourself. You got an invitation? From who?" Stanley also laughed recklessly.

"Elbert, show them," William said calmly.

Elbert had been waiting for this moment. He took out the invitation from the bag and waved it in front of Stanley and Lori, "Open your eyes and take a good look. Here is the invitation."

Stanley's eyes twitched. Although he only glanced at it briefly, he saw clearly that it was an invitation.

No way. William actually had an invitation.

Lori didn't believe it and reached out to grab it, but Elbert quickly put it away and proudly said, "I told you, don't look down on folks. How about that? Surprised, huh?"

"You're lying. How could you guys have an invitation?" Lori shouted, voicing Stanley's question, "Got it figured out, William. The woman with you is quite something, pretty loaded, huh, to be able to show up a place like this."

Then Lori's gaze fell on Genesis.

"What do you mean?" William frowned.

Genesis's face also turned sour.

"What else could it be? You got in because of her." Lori snorted, raising her eyebrows, "Messin' around, how shameless!"

"What did you say? Say it again." Genesis couldn't take it anymore. It was the first time she had been so insulted. She cursed, "I have no special relationship with William. You're the shameless one, dressed like that, who are you trying to seduce? I get it, you're here to land yourselfa rich man, aren't you? You’re a disgrace to your parents, with such a dirty mind."

"Who are you calling out? Say it again, and I'll tear your mouth apart," Lori said angrily.

Upon seeing the two women about to fight, Stanley and William quickly pulled them apart.

"William, you've got some nerve. Since you managed to get in, that's your luck. But I warn you, it is not a place for you. I'd suggest you leave quickly," Stanley leaned in close to William and said. With cold light flashing in his eyes, he patted William's shoulder and applied some pressure.

A subtle tension flowed between the two.

William looked up, a cold smile playing on his lips, then said, "What if I don't leave?"

The atmosphere became tense instantly, and the temperature around them seemed to drop several degrees.

William and Stanley locked eyes, sparks flying between them.

Lori sneered disdainfully and added, "Stanley, enough. Don't waste your breath on an idiot. Let's go."

After all, Lori knew they couldn't cause a scene here, or everyone would be in trouble.

As they were pulled apart, Stanley gave a final low warning, "William, I'll let you off today. We'll see about next time."

"You're always welcome," William replied with a faint smile.

"William, did you see how arrogant Stanley was? I really want to sock him one,," Elbert said discontentedly.

"When does the banquet start anyway? I can't wait to see you humiliate him on stage. What's he so proud of? Just because his dad has some money, knows some people, and he started a small company? Can he be richer than you, William?" Elbert continued.

Genesis frowned slightly but said nothing, just looking at William's profile. She didn't know William's thought.

She didn't understand, but she had a premonition that tonight would be a a night of no sleep.

Those who once looked down on William would soon find themselves look up to him.

He was destined to be the brightest star in the venue tonight.

Meanwhile, the chairmen of a pharmaceutical company and the Jones Group from the Imperial City, were guided through the lobby to the banquet hall.

As soon as they appeared in the hall, they attracted most people's attention. Everyone held their glasses to congratulate, chat, or curry favor.

These were big shots from the Imperial City, all belonging to the Jones Group. And Dylan was the chairman of the Jones Group who controlled the flow of billions of dollars.

"Mr. Brooks, you look very refreshed today. I heard Mr. Jones will be here tonight. Can you tell us what he's like?"

"Yes, Mr. Brooks, we can't wait. He is someone who can invest a billion dollars at once."

The crowd kept asking questions.

Dylan nodded and responded to each person.

"Don't jump to conclusions. He's a low-key person and doesn't like to be disturbed. But rest assured, he will definitely come tonight," Dylan said.

Over there, Mary was dressed in a black evening gown, revealing her fair and smooth back, her hair styled up high. Her figure was extremely slender, like an angel descended to earth.

She was elegantly dressed, holding a wine glass under the spotlight, and with Terry leading the way, she walked towards Dylan and the others with a noble smile.

"Mr. Brooks, I'm Mary Smith, the chairman of BK Pharmaceuticals. I've long held you in high regard." Mary, after all, had been in the business world for three years, and she spoke with tact and a soft voice, making it very pleasant to hear.

"Hello, Ms. Smith," Dylan said with a smile. clinking glasses with her.

Dylan didn't dare to show any arrogance. She was William's wife, although Mary didn't know his identity yet.

What William was doing was really torturous.

Even Mary had to be kept in the dark.

"Mr. Sullivan, thank you for your help last time. Isaac has already told me. Without your company's help, BK Pharmaceuticals wouldn't have been able to get out of the breach of contract crisis, nor would wehave received the Jones Group's investment later." When Mary looked at Nathan, she slightly bowed and sipped her wine to express her gratitude.

Back when BK Pharmaceuticals was blocked by pharmaceutical companies, with no orders and no suppliers, it was thanks to Isaac's help that they got the first batch of orders from Orion Pharmaceuticals.

Nathan was momentarily stunned. Isaac had indeed mentioned it to him before, even using the Hayes Group as a guarantee.

But he helped BK Pharmaceuticals because of William, rather than Isaac.

William was the real driving force.

As for Isaac, he didn't have the power or connections to resolve BK Pharmaceuticals' breach of contract crisis.

It involved over six hundred million in breaches, and the Hayes Group couldn't possibly come up with that much money.

"Ms. Smith, I believe there's been a misunderstandin. The breach of contract crisis at BK Pharmaceuticals wasn't resolved by me, and it's not something Isaac could handle."

Nathan didn't dare to take credit for William's achievements. He was now very sure that William was the Mr. Jones from the Imperial City.

Dylan had personally told him about it.

Mary was stunned, her face full of doubt, "Neither you nor Isaac. Then who?"

If it wasn't Isaac, then he lied to her.

"Ms. Smith, you must be joking." Nathan smiled slightly, ready to reveal everything, "You must know that the breach of contract crisis at BK Pharmaceuticals was actually resolved by Mr. Jones."
