Chapter 222 Something Happened to Margaret

Samuel walked over quickly, unable to hide his joy as he said, "Mr. Jones, you're here too. It's so great to see you."

William was talking to Mary at that moment. Hearing the voice, he looked up and found the person in front of him unfamiliar. "Who are you?"

"Oh, you might have forgotten. I'm in real estate. My name is Samuel. Last time, my son Zachary caused some trouble in the upscale residential area. It was my fault for his rudeness. I hope you won't hold it against us," he said obsequiously, his words full of respect.

After hearing this, William remembered who he was and smiled, "Hello, Samuel."

Samuel wanted to continue chatting, but Edward and others had walked over with displeased expressions.

Mary, standing to the side, looked at William confusedly. 'He knows someone high up in real estate?'

"You know Samuel?" Mary tugged at William, staring at him.

He thought for a moment and nodded. "Yes. I'll tell you later."

At this moment, a low voice questioned from behind, "William, what are you doing? Samuel's here, but you're not greeting him back and don't greet him back?"

Edward's face was cold; seeing William's nonchalant attitude angered him.

This was the most important guest of the evening, a high-ranking official in the Lindwood City real estate department. If anything went wrong, his plans to enter the Lindwood City real estate market would be ruined.

So, he couldn't allow any mistakes.

No wonder he was angry with William at this moment.

"Look at that good William. If he offends Samuel, what are you going to do?" Doris took the chance to say this, completely tearing away the last bit of pretense in Edward's heart.

"Exactly, Dad, look at how useless William is. This kind of lousy relative will drag our family down sooner or later." Avery also stood on the same side as Doris.

She had always looked down on William. Along with her jealousy toward Mary, she naturally showed no good sides.

As the group approached, Edward coldly reprimanded William in a low voice, "Aren't you going to apologize to Samuel?"

William was a bit confused by this. What did he do wrong?

He looked at Samuel, who was now in a panic.

'Have William apologize to him? That must be a joke!'

If William got angry and turned against him, wouldn't the Jenkins family be finished?

Thus, Samuel hurriedly shouted angrily, "Edward! How dare you speak to Mr. Jones like that? Apologize to Mr. him now!"

"Mr. Jones?" Edward was stunned. Samuel actually respected William this much?

How could this be?

One was a leader in Lindwood City, and the other was just a useless son-in-law, living off a woman!

Not only Edward, but even the others were also stunned.

"Mr. Jenkins, you must be joking. William is just a wuss. How could you know him?" Edward asked, still doubtful.

"People are not distinguished by status. How can you casually define him as a wuss?"

Samuel was angry, wishing he could criticize Edward right now!

This was outrageous!

In front of Mr. Jones, he dared to judge him like that!

Edward was also confused. He could clearly see that Samuel had great respect for William; not even in a mocking manner.

What was going on?

Who the heck was William?

Wasn't he a wuss in the Smith family?

Edward turned to look at the equally bewildered Margaret and Tyler. Tyler, who had recognized Samuel, quickly stepped forward to shake his hand. "Mr. Jenkins, I didn't expect you to be the distinguished guest today."

Samuel looked at Tyler and asked suspiciously, "And you are?"

"I'm William's father-in-law. My name is Tyler," Tyler said, his desire for a successful career reigniting.

William actually knew Samuel. This was incredible!

Could his failing career finally rise up today?

"Hello, so you're Mr. Jones's father-in-law." Samuel quickly nodded, shaking Tyler's hand with a face full of smiles.

Tyler was also very happy. Was Samuel trying to curry favor with him?

He looked suspiciously at William, who was smiling calmly.

Indeed, he wasn't wrong. William had really changed into a somewhat unfathomable man.

No, he had to persuade Margaret not to offend him when they got back.

William knew Samuel was not nobody.

Margaret watched this scene, panicking. She knew Samuel's reputation, and seeing Tyler's attitude, she understood his meaning.

But now, Samuel was actually currying favor with Tyler because of William.

What was going on?

Wasn't he a good-for-nothing?

"Edward, apologize to Mr. Jones right now, or do you want the project to stop?" Samuel stopped smiling, exerting pressure using his influence.

Edward, sweating profusely and very unwilling, said to William, "I'm sorry for my attitude earlier."

William smiled and said, "It's okay; we're family."

With that, everyone laughed, trying to ease the awkward atmosphere from earlier.

Only Avery and Doris looked very displeased. They wanted to pick on William, but who would've thought he actually knew Samuel?

Everyone else was also shocked, awkwardly putting on forced smiles.

Just a moment ago, William was someone everyone could talk down to, but now he actually knew Samuel from the Lindwood City real estate department. What a twist!

Back in the private room, everyone noticed how respectful Samuel was to William.

This made them very curious. How could someone like Samuel show such respect to William?

The meal ended quickly. After seeing Samuel off, everyone else looked at William with changed expressions.

Under the table, Edward kicked Doris and gave her a meaningful look.

"William, you really know Samuel? Why didn't you tell me earlier?" Doris had already changed to a flattering expression. "Don't take what I said earlier to heart. I apologize."

With that, she downed a glass of wine.

"William, Edward plans to enter the Lindwood City real estate market this year. Since you know Samuel, and he seems to respect you a lot, could you put in a good word for Edward and ask about some low-down?"

Doris said with a face full of smiles.

If it weren't for Edward's career, she wouldn't be flattering William like this.

"Aunt Doris, aren't I a wuss? I probably can't help." William smiled, not even lifting his eyelids.

Doris was stunned, cursing inwardly. Then, she awkwardly smiled, speechless for a moment..

"William, is it really that hard to do my mom a favor? Do you really think Samuel's words make you somebody? Just because you know some Samuel doesn't mean that you can use that attitude to talk to us. Do you think my dad can't get things done without you?"

Avery was furious especially seeing William's smug look, which disgusted her!

What was he so proud of?

He was still a wuss living off his wife.

"Enough, Avery. Watch your mouth. Be polite to William from now on; after all, he's your cousin now." Edward's face turned red as he reprimanded her.

She crossed her arms and gave William a cold look, hating him to the core!

"William, if you can help, please do. If not, don't worry about it." Edward didn't put all his hopes on William, considering he had always been useless.

Knowing Samuel wouldn't change much, right?

William thought for a moment, then turned to Mary and asked, "Mary, do we need to help?"

Mary was stunned as she didn't expect him to ask for her advice.

"If we can help, we should. We're all family." She smiled, suddenly feeling prideful in front of the Elliots.

Who said William was a wuss?

William didn't say much more and agreed to help. He didn't delay and directly called George.

Not long after, Samuel called Edward back and said, "Mr. Elliott, if you're free tomorrow, come to the Department of Housing and Urban Development."

"Thank you, thank you, Mr. Jenkins!" Edward was overjoyed, thanking Samuel profusely before hanging up and praising William endlessly.

He didn't expect a single call from William would actually make this happen.

"Aren't you going to apologize to William?" Edward glared at Doris and scolded her.

She hesitated for a long time before sadly saying, "I'm sorry for what I said earlier."

The Smith Family's useless son-in-law actually had some skills.

Margaret and Tyler were overjoyed at this moment.

Who would have thought William would actually bring them some face?

After that, everyone kept flattering William, Tyler and Margaret.

Margaret and Tyler ended up drinking a few more glasses.

The dinner ended, and after seeing Edward's family off and arranging a cab for Margaret and Tyler, William and Mary prepared to drive home.

But halfway there, Mary received a call, her face changing instantly. She said anxiously, "Quick, go to the hospital. Something happened to Mom and Dad!"

William was stunned and hurriedly turned the car around, asking, "What happened?"
