Chapter 372 Asking for Trouble

What the heck was going on?

The richest dude in Lindwood City was standing all respectful in front of William, calling him Mr. Jones!

This totally blew everyone's minds about who William really was.

Margaret kinda had a clue that William wasn't just some regular guy, but seeing it in person still left her speechless.

Delia and the rest were so shocked they just stood there, mouths hanging open, staring at William and George like they'd seen a ghost.

Their earlier trash talk about William was still fresh, but now they were starting to feel a bit uneasy.

William shot them a cold look and said, "So, what's the plan with this car?"

His words were like a gust of bitter wind, instantly snuffing out their enthusiasm.

Delia, still trying to act tough, muttered, "What do you mean? Isn't this car yours?"

William, cool as a cucumber, replied, "Did I ever say it was mine? You all just assumed I embezzle company money to buy it."

Delia was speechless, her eyes darting around, sneaking glances at Ulysses.

Ulysses, feeling helpless, kept his mouth shut.

"Margaret, what does his mean?" Delia whispered in Margaret's ear.

Margaret was curious too. She'd been happy for a bit, but now it turned out the car was George's.

"William, what's the deal? Whose car is this?" Margaret asked, not even trying to hide her curiosity.

William couldn't be bothered to explain and said, "George, fill them in."

George thought for a moment, guessing William wanted to keep things on the down-low.

"Everyone, this car is mine. I just happened to run into Mr. Jones and gave him a lift. Didn't mean to cause any confusion. My bad," George said.

Suddenly, everyone got it and looked down on William even more.

So, it wasn't his car after all.

Delia scoffed, "William, I thought you were something. But turns out you were just riding on someone else's coattails. A loser is a loser. You'll never afford a car like that in your life."

Ulysses chimed in, "Alright, alright, let's drop it. Even if he's not embarrassed, we are."

William frowned, thinking, 'What kind of people are these? No matter what, it's always my fault?'

But he didn't bother arguing. He said a few words to George and headed back to the villa.

George got back in his car, said goodbye to Margaret, and left.

Watching the Rolls-Royce drive away, Delia's family felt super uncomfortable, mostly regretting their earlier behavior.

"Margaret, what's the deal? How does William know the richest guy in the city? Never heard of this before," Delia asked hurriedly.

Margaret, looking annoyed, explained, "William saved George once. Maybe George is just grateful for him."

She recounted William's earlier explanation.

Only then did Delia's family get what had happened.

So, it was all a big misunderstanding.

They went back to the villa, not super excited. But thinking about living in such a fancy place, Delia still felt pretty satisfied and got Ulysses and Nancy to start packing their stuff.

They wandered around the whole villa, picking rooms.

Delia, a middle-aged woman, was just as shameless and unreasonable as Margaret.

She immediately set her sights on a room on the second floor, which was spacious and had a view of the lake.

"Margaret, we're taking this room on the second floor," Delia shouted from upstairs. Not caring if Margaret heard her, she quickly moved her stuff in.

She even moved out the kids' toys that were inside.

"Hey, Mom, I think this is Sarah's room," Nancy said.

She peeked in and liked the room too but didn't dare to take it.

"So what, what are you afraid of? This villa belongs to Margaret. What can William say? We're staying here. Go pack your things," Delia said arrogantly, not caring at all.

Sarah living in such a nice room was a waste.

After a while, Delia finally came down from the second floor with Ulysses and started eating fruit and watching TV in the living room.

Nancy, who had also finished packing, sat in the living room, played on her phone, and took pictures of the villa.

Margaret had just come back inside after taking a phone call, and it was clear her mood had taken a turn for the better.

"How's it going? All settled?" she asked.

Delia quickly pulled her to sit down, laying it on thick. "Margaret, thank you so much. Without you, Ulysses and I would be out on the street. But we have one more favor to ask, and you have to say yes, please."

With that, Delia dropped to her knees.

Margaret was startled and tried to pull her up, but Delia was having none of it. "Margaret, please. I won't get up unless you agree."

Margaret quickly said, "Alright, get up first, and then we'll talk."

Delia stayed put and started crying. "Margaret, you know we live a simple life. This is the first time we've stayed in such a fancy place. We just want to stay a few more days so much."

Margaret instantly realized they wanted to stay forever.

She couldn't agree to that.

"Delia, I..." Margaret started, clearly torn.

Delia wailed louder, "Margaret, if you don't agree, I won't get up. We're family. How can you be so heartless?"

Margaret had no choice but to give in. "Alright, I agree. Get up."

Delia wiped her tears, stood up, and started buttering Margaret up, even offering to massage her shoulders like a servant.

"Margaret, from now on, I'll handle all the housework. You just relax," Delia offered.

Margaret rolled her eyes. "Enough. We have maids."

Just then, William came down from the second floor, glanced at everyone in the living room, and said with a displeased face, "Why haven't you moved out yet?"

Did they not hear him earlier?

Margaret immediately stood up, glaring at William. "William, what do you mean? Are you really going to kick us out?"

Delia quickly stood up too, backing Margaret up. "Exactly, who do you think you are? Do you have any say here? You should be the first to go!"

William's face hardened, and he said coldly, "You have ten minutes to move out, or I'll call security."

With that, he turned and went back upstairs.

Furious, Delia shouted, "Damn it! Margaret, what does William mean? Acting like he bought this villa!"

William, hearing this, turned his head from the second floor and said coolly, "You're right. I did buy this villa. So, all of you get out!"

Pointing at William's back, Delia fumed, "Margaret, look at him! William is out of control! How dare he say such things!"

What did he mean he bought it?

Margaret had said this villa was bought by Mary, and it had Margaret's name on it.

Margaret was infuriated. William was not respecting her at all!

Now, he even wanted to kick her out!

Margaret, furious, sat on the sofa with her arms crossed, her face full of anger as she declared, "No one is moving. Let's see what William dares to do to me!"

Delia, now on the same side as Margaret, kept fanning the flames in her ear.

The more she talked, the angrier Margaret got.

Ten minutes later, a team of security guards rushed in and pinned everyone down.

Margaret and the others were dumbfounded seeing the security guards suddenly appear in the house.

William actually dared to do this.

"William, I was a fool to let Mary marry you! You've been part of the Smith family for three years, and this is how you repay us?” Margaret shrieked hysterically in the living room.

She then simply sat on the floor, rolling and cursing.

The security guards were all from the Eagle family and only listened to the villa's owner.

William came out, and as he passed through the living room, he just gave a cold glance and said, "You brought this on yourselves! From today on, this villa has nothing to do with you!"

Margaret was frightened by William's imposing manner, and then she saw that William was holding the property deed of the house.

What was he going to do?

Was he going to take her name off the deed?
