Chapter 243 Noble Command

Under the spotlight, William walked towards Mary.

Suddenly, hurried footsteps came from behind. A bodyguard in a black suit anxiously stopped William, bowing respectfully as he said, "Mr. William Jones, Mrs. Jessica Jones requests your presence at Cloud Peak Manor. Mr. Nicholas Jones has arrived."

Nicholas?

William was instantly shocked. He glanced back at Mary sitting under the spotlight, handed the rose to a waiter, and said, "I'll be right back. Ask her to wait for me for a moment."

With that, he turned and strode out of the Sky Garden Restaurant.

A black Bentley sped through Lindwood City, crossed the bridge, and arrived at Cloud Peak Manor in the green mountains.

William's mind was restless, and his brows were furrowed. Nicholas had arrived.

William thought, 'Why would Nicholas come? Is there trouble at home?'

The car stopped at the entrance of the manor, where two rows of bodyguards in black suits were already standing.

The atmosphere was very serious, with an unusual tension in the air.

William got out of the car and entered the manor's hall.

Pushing the door open, William immediately saw a middle-aged man sitting on the sofa with his legs crossed, a gold pipe in his mouth, and a mustache with slicked-back hair graying at the temples. The man, dressed in an expensive gray plaid suit, was chatting and laughing with Jessica.

Nicholas, the head of the Jones family's underground power and influence, was Mario's younger brother and William's uncle.

He was meticulous and ruthless in his methods but very kind in demeanor.

The moment he saw William, he stood up, opened his arms, and, with the pipe in his mouth, walked over laughing. "Well, William, long time no see. You've grown taller and stronger."

Nicholas was enthusiastic.

William hugged Nicholas and respectfully called out, "Uncle Nicholas."

Nicholas puffed from his pipe, eyeing William carefully before patting his shoulder, his eyes kind and satisfied. "Seeing you puts my mind at ease."

Jessica watched this scene, her expression unchanged, just smiling faintly. "Sit down. Let's not stand and talk as a family."

"You're right. Come and sit next to me," Nicholas said, pulling William to sit down.

Then he continued, "It's been seven years, and you haven't thought of coming home to see me."

William smiled awkwardly and scratched his head.

Jessica interjected, "Nicholas, what brings you to Lindwood City suddenly?"

Jessica was also unprepared for Nicholas' sudden visit.

She thought, 'Is there trouble at home? But why hasn't the family sent any word?'

"Just passing through. I heard William was here, so I came to see him," Nicholas said, laughing.

He glanced at William, then stood up and said, "Come with me. I need to talk to you."

William glanced at the slightly stunned Jessica, got up, and followed Nicholas out of the hall to a scenic spot in the manor.

From there, one could see the night view of Lindwood City in the distance.

"Uncle Nicholas, why are you here?" William couldn't help but ask.

Nicholas, smoking his pipe, dismissed the bodyguards following them.

These men were all from the Jones family, the most loyal enforcers, only obeying Nicholas' orders.

After a while, Nicholas squinted and said, "William, you need to go back. Actually, this time, it's your father who sent me here."

William was silent for a moment before asking, "How is he now?"

"Not good. The Jones family needs you back," Nicholas said, full of sorrow.

"I understand," William replied, looking at the vast night, feeling anxious.

Mario had finally reached this point.

After William turned back, Nicholas patted him on the shoulder and said, "I know what you're worried about. Jessica and the Miller family are far from being obstacles in your path. Leave it to me. I'll clear those obstacles for you. When you have time, take Mary and Sarah to see your father."

He added, "The incident back then wasn't your father's fault. He had his reasons."

Nicholas recalled the past, that incident buried deep in memory.

It was a severe blow to the Jones family.

"I've long forgotten about it," William said, with some loss and sadness in his eyes.

Nicholas looked at him, laughed, and said, "I have one more thing for you this time. Here, take this."

With that, he took off a ring from his thumb.

"This was given to me by Mario back then. Now I'm giving it to you, hoping it will help you. Although I don't know what you've been preparing for all these years, I know that to deal with the Miller family, you can't do without this," Nicholas said, handing the ring to William, as if it were a casual thing.

William didn't dare to take it as he knew what that ring represented!

It was too significant!

It represented the core of all the Jones family's external military power!

In other words, possessing the ring meant having all the Jones family's military power!

Those family bodyguards could be dispatched at will!

This was the family's Noble Command!

To get the last family mobilization order, William had to go through George and even consult Jessica.

Even though he successfully mobilized those forces in the end, he still faced protests and dissatisfaction from other family members.

But now, with the ring, William could command and dispatch at will, and no one would dare to object!

This was Nicholas' power and status.

This was the power of the Jones family.

No one in the Jones family could defy the orders issued by the owner of this ring.

Seeing this ring was like seeing the emperor.

Of course, there were three such rings in total.

They were meant to check and balance each other.

As for the other two rings, one was in Jessica's hand, and the other was with William's biological mother, Aurora.

However, after the car accident back then, the ring in Aurora's hand disappeared.

Now, the world only knew about these two rings.

"Uncle Nicholas, I can't accept this," William refused, as he knew what Nicholas' gesture meant.

Nicholas smiled and said, "I've spent my life in the military, dedicating twenty to thirty years to the Jones family. I'm tired. If it weren't for watching you grow up, I wouldn't know who to give this to."

Nicholas' magnanimity lay in his ability to let go.

"You still have a long future ahead. The Millers have gone too far. They don't want to be under the Joneses. Over the years, Jessica has sent a lot of people and spies into the Jones family. I have other stuff to deal with, and this ring can only be given to you," Nicholas spoke gently, with the demeanor of an elder.

Meanwhile, in the hall, Jessica stood by the window, watching the two talking outside, her brows furrowed, sipping her red wine.

Behind her, her personal assistant Zoe bowed and said, "Everyone is in position. Please give the order." The entire Cloud Peak Manor was filled with people from the Miller family.

Nicholas had only brought a dozen people with him this time, which was far from enough.

If Jessica wanted, she could take down Nicholas.

In the past, within the Jones family, there was nothing she could do against Nicholas.

"Have them withdraw," Jessica said, taking a sip of wine, her mind racing.

"This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, we..." Zoe said, anxious.

"Withdraw!" Jessica repeated.

She turned, her eyes coldly staring at Zoe, exuding a chilling aura that was quite intimidating.

"Yes," Zoe replied.

Meanwhile, at the Sky Garden Restaurant, Mary had been waiting for an hour, but Mr. Jones had yet to appear.

At this moment, Dylan, who had hurriedly arrived, smiled apologetically at her and said, "Ms. Smith, I'm sorry to keep you waiting."

Mary stood up, shook hands with Dylan, and smiled. "Why are you here? Where is Mr. Jones?"

Dylan apologized, "I'm sorry. He had something come up last minute, so I'm here for the meeting."

Mary smiled and didn't say much. The two had a pleasant conversation.

In the end, the Jones Group agreed to help BK Pharmaceuticals find new sales partners.

Mary stood up, excitedly shaking Dylan's hand and saying, "Thank you for trusting BK Pharmaceuticals."

Mary still felt a bit unreal. She thought, 'The Jones Group is so agreeable. They agreed to cooperate with me so easily. They agreed to a billion-dollar investment first, and now new sales partners. It feels like money is falling from the sky.'

Dylan just politely shook her hand and then let go, saying, "No need to thank me. It's all arranged by Mr. Jones."

Hearing this, Mary thought for a moment and then timidly asked, "Mr. Brooks, what kind of person is this Mr. Jones? Do I know him?"

"Well..." Dylan said, looking troubled. He wasn't sure if he should reveal William's identity to Mary.

"Ms. Smith, actually, our young master, you should have seen him, and you see him every day," Dylan thought for a moment and replied with a smile.

"I've seen him? Who?" Mary asked, puzzled, her mind racing through the people she had seen recently, especially those she saw every day.
