William was taken aback.
"Well, he is sitting right next to you. It's me, your husband. Oh, maybe later. He's been abroad recently," William said, giving an awkward smile.
Mary nodded in understanding and didn't say anything further.
The business gala tonight in Lindwood City, featuring the top 100 well-known companies, was held in the presidential banquet hall of the Radiant Glow Hotel.

Someone whispered, "Who's that man standing next to Mary? I've never seen him before."
Another replied, "Never seen him? Look, they're holding arms. They must be close!"
A voice introduced, "Are you guys stupid? That's Mary's husband, the freeloader!"
Someone exclaimed, "Whoa! So that's him. Damn, he looks pretty good, but he's a freeloader."
The banquet hall was abuzz with discussions!
William was very displeased because he felt several hostile gazes fixed on him, filled with animosity.
Mary, holding William's arm, walked into the banquet hall. She heard the surrounding chatter but didn't pay any attention to it. Her purpose tonight was to secure new investments and new partners for BK Pharmaceuticals.

Someone remarked cheerfully, "Ms. Smith, congratulations!"
Mary nodded and smiled.
After the group dispersed, Mary finally let out a sigh of relief. These people were all very shrewd.
William could also see that many people present had their eyes on Mary.
