Chapter 80 Mary's Interrogation

Margaret was completely dumbfounded! She couldn't catch her breath!

A hundred billion dollars?

With a thud, Margaret fell backwards onto the ground, her body trembling uncontrollably. Instantly, several people gathered around, all watching and whispering among themselves.

"Is she having an epileptic seizure?"

"Call 911 quickly!"

"Quickly, get someone, this looks serious."

Soon, the bank staff hurried over, helping Margaret to a seat on the side, pinching her philtrum and feeding her water.

Finally, Margaret came to, her hands still shaking, her gaze vacant as she muttered. "A hundred billion dollars."

The onlookers were all confused, not understanding what this old lady was talking about.

Was she delirious from her illness?

At that moment, William and Mary also rushed over in a hurry. They had received a call from the bank staff, informing them of the location.

"Mom, what happened to you? Are you okay, do we need to go to the hospital?" Mary hurried over, squatting in front of Margaret, her face full of concern.

After all, this was her biological mother. Of course, she was very anxious about the incident.

William followed closely behind, his face a picture of worry. He saw that Margaret was clutching the bank card tightly in her hand, and many people around were discussing something about a hundred billion dollars.

Though everyone was unclear about the specifics, William knew all too well.

His mother-in-law must have seen the balance on the bank card and fainted from shock.

This matter needed a reasonable explanation to get through.

Given her mother-in-law's character, she might very well claim the money as a gift from William and swallow it all.

Margaret, mumbling and with drooping eyelids, suddenly perked up when she saw William, her eyes shining. She grabbed his hand, excitedly exclaiming. "William, a hundred billion dollars!"

William's card actually had a hundred billion dollars in it!

Could this be real?

Margaret couldn't believe it. William had always been a good-for-nothing.

Mary still got perplexed, gazed eagerly at her mother and William, inquiring. "What billion are we discussing?"

William shook his head, saying calmly. "I'm not sure either, maybe mom is."

William didn't finish his sentence, but Mary understood. She pulled Margaret to sit down, asking, "Mom, what's this about a hundred billion dollars?"

Margaret, still agitated, pulled on Mary's hand, exclaiming. "Mary, the card William gave me, it has a hundred billion dollars in it!"

Silence fell abruptly! The entire place went quiet! Everyone there was stunned.

Their gazes fell on William, a seemingly ordinary young man. His clothes were too shabby, he didn't look like someone wealthy.

A balance of a hundred billion dollars, that had to be a joke!

What kind of concept was that!

"My goodness, did I hear wrong, a hundred billion dollars?"

"This old lady must be out of her mind."

"Let's disperse, it's clear she just came out of a hospital. You'd better take your mom back, delaying treatment won't do."

The crowd murmured among themselves, naturally not believing in such a fantastical account of a hundred billion dollars balance.

Everyone treated Margaret as if she were insane. Even the bank staff helplessly shook their heads and then turned away to continue their work.

Margaret became anxious at that moment, shouting to everyone. "It's true, I really saw a hundred billion dollars in the card, I'm not lying to you, I'm not!"

Margaret cared about her reputation, and naturally refused to be seen as a lunatic.

She got up, grabbing anyone she could, insisting she had seen a hundred billion dollars in the card.

Mary was quite troubled, following Margaret around, continuously trying to calm her. "Mom, stop making a scene, where would a hundred billion dollars come from? You must have seen it wrong, shall we go home?"

Margaret refused, shaking off Mary's hand, and hurried over to William, her eyes wide with hope. "William, tell them, does this card have a hundred billion dollars?"

William must know, it was his card, he must be aware.

However, William just helplessly shook his head, saying, "Mom, what hundred billion dollars? Let's go home first."

"No, I won't go back, I have a hundred billion dollars! This card you gave me, the money in it is mine! A hundred billion dollars!" Margaret shouted frenziedly, then rushed to the counter, telling the bank teller. "Quick, check for me, tell them if there's a hundred billion dollars in this card!"

The bank counter staff, with a helpless face, glanced at William and coldly said, "Sir, please take her home, we need to serve other customers."

An insane person, let loose.

William, holding Margaret, said, "How about this, you sit over there and rest, I'll check, okay?"

Margaret nodded, her heart in turmoil.

Mary also came over at that time, supporting the trembling Margaret to sit in the rest area.

William frowned, pulled out the card, handed it to the counter, and indifferently requested. "Could you ask your manager to come out for a moment?"

The teller was taken aback, then snorted with a sneer. "Sir, you don't actually think there's a hundred billion dollars in this card, do you?"

How funny. The old woman left, and now this man came over. A whole family of lunatics?

However, William simply smiled lightly and said, "Then I'll withdraw money."

The teller looked at him disdainfully, muttering under her breath. "A pauper wanting to withdraw money, really thinks there's a hundred billion dollars in the card, what a loser!"

While speaking, she began to operate, her attitude unfriendly as she instructed. "Enter the password."

William complied.

After the teller's operation, when she saw the balance of the bank card, she was so shocked that she stood up straight, her mouth agape!

The disdain and contempt on her face were instantly replaced by surprise and disbelief!

Simultaneously, the staff inside the counter all gathered around.

When they saw the balance, they were all stunned! This really was a hundred billion dollars! The old lady wasn't lying!

They had worked at the bank for several years and had never seen so much money! Their small branch's vault only had a few tens of millions in it!

"Sir, please wait a moment, I'll call the manager right away."

The teller who had previously been so dismissive now immediately bent over to bow, stumbling as she ran to the manager's office.

Without knocking, Lori burst in. "Manager, there's a big situation!"

At the moment, Bryan was in his office flirting with his little mistress, who was also a duty teller in the bank lobby.

Lori's unexpected entrance naturally caught them in the act, and she turned to leave immediately.

Bryan's face turned cold, he let the female subordinate leave from under his desk, and then coldly said, "Lori, what's happened that you're so flustered? Do you know what Article 17 of the employee code is?"

Lori was frightened, bowing her head and repeatedly apologizing.

The duty teller also dressed herself, snorted past Lori, and walked away arrogantly.

"Speak, what's the matter?"

Bryan looked displeased. His enjoyment had been interrupted, who wouldn't be upset?

Lori hurriedly said, "Manager, a big client has arrived outside, with a hundred billion dollars in deposits!"

"A hundred billion dollars?"

Bryan jumped up from his chair, his eyes wide, his breathing rapid.

Who could have a hundred billion dollars in deposits?

And it appeared in his small branch!

If he could get a billion dollars in wealth management investment, then he, Bryan, wouldn't need to work for the rest of the year!

Perhaps, he could even be promoted to branch president next year!

If he could get that big client to let even a little bit slip through the cracks into their branch, his performance for the year would skyrocket!

Just a few days ago at the head office meeting, they specifically criticized their branch for poor deposit performance!

Bryan had a terrible headache. If this continued, he would be fired from his manager position!

Without further thought, Bryan hurriedly jogged out. "Let's go, quickly take me there!"

Arriving in the bank lobby and seeing William for the first time, Bryan hesitated slightly, but after Lori pointed him out, he immediately went up with a smile on his face, extending both hands. "William, it's so wonderful to meet you. Shall we talk in the VIP Reception room?"

William shook hands with Bryan, nodding his head to agree.

Seeing this, Mary immediately came over, her beautiful brows furrowed, asking. "What's going on, William?"

This must be the bank manager, why was he being so polite to William?

Could it be that the card William gave to mom actually had a problem?

Just now, Margaret had been incessantly muttering in Mary's ear about a hundred billion dollars in the card. Mary naturally didn't believe it. If there really was that much money, why would William hide it from her?

But now, the bank manager's attitude added to Mary's confusion.

"William, tell me honestly, how much money is really in the card?" Mary's face was slightly cold.
