Chapter 278 William Felt Like Hitting Someone
Mary had no way of knowing and couldn't be bothered with it.
Evander sneered, stood up, patted his suit, and said, "Ms. Smith, you have a lot to learn. Forty percent is your bottom line, but fifty percent is mine. You should think it over carefully. No need to rush your answer."
With that, Evander stood up and left.
Just as Evander walked out of the conference room and passed by the marketing department's office hall, he suddenly heard a shout.
"William, come here quickly!" a colleague called out.
William was idle and had just gone to the restroom. As soon as he entered the door, he heard someone calling him.
Evander's brows furrowed, and his face instantly turned icy. He looked at William's smiling face and etched it deeply in his mind!
This was William, the one Keith had mentioned, who repeatedly ruined his plans.
William felt the intense hostility from behind. He turned his head and met Evander's gloomy gaze.
'Seems like he has a lot of hostility towards me,' William thought.
He glanced at Evander and then turned back to talk to his colleague.
Evander's face was pale, and he was burning with anger. He barely managed to control his emotions and, in front of all the marketing department employees, coldly asked, "Are you William?"
'So impatient?' William thought.
He then turned his head and asked with a puzzled look, "Do you know me?"
Everyone in the marketing department was stunned. That was Evander, the head of the Carter family in Sunshine Bay City, a business tycoon, and one of the top twenty richest people on the wealth list!
He actually took the initiative to ask about William?
This was too shocking!
Evander restrained his anger, put on a faint smile, and said, "Oh, I've heard Keith mention you. He said BK Pharmaceuticals has a good employee. It's rare to meet you today."
'Keith? He mentioned me? He would love to skin me alive!' William thought.
He returned a fake smile and said, "So it's Mr. Carter. He flatters me. I'm just a small assistant at BK Pharmaceuticals, not as great as Mr. Carter says."
The commotion naturally caught the attention of Mary and Evelyn, who had just come out of the conference room.
Others might not know, but Mary was very clear about it. She loudly said, "Mr. Carter, let me see you out."
Evander responded and coldly said, "Ms. Smith, if you want the Carter family to continue investing, I'll add one more condition: fire him!"
He then gave William a meaningful look before leaving the marketing department.
As Mary passed by William, she frowned and said, "Don't cause trouble."
She knew William's temper and was afraid he would rush out and beat up Evander.
William raised his eyebrows and said, "Don't worry."
Hearing this, Mary went out.
Just as William was staring at Mary, he clearly felt a burning gaze on him from the market. He turned his face and saw Evelyn's bright face.
Evelyn had been watching William. William, who had only been at BK Pharmaceuticals for a few days, had already made a name for himself, although it was for some unreliable deeds. But she had heard of him.
William was Mary's husband, whom others called a wimp.
But Evelyn didn't think so.
William flashed a bright smile, and Evelyn returned a smile.
This was a mature woman!
At the sight of her, any man would have a hard time not having some improper thoughts!
Evelyn was like a flame, drawing men irresistibly towards her.
William smiled slyly, not hiding his gaze at all, even deliberately lingering on Evelyn's chest for a few seconds.
'This woman is a seductress. What is she up to?' William thought.
Evelyn was no ordinary woman and naturally understood William's gaze. For the first time, she found William quite interesting, daring to stare at her chest so boldly.
She smiled, left a meaningful look, and walked into the director's office in her high heels.
William looked through the glass of the director's office and saw Evelyn deliberately stretching in front of him, her proud curves fully displayed!
She was so seductive!
William muttered, "Seductress!"
Evelyn was probably not an easy one.
Despite knowing he was Mary's husband and worked at the same company, she still dared to approach him directly for an affair.
In the late afternoon, around three or four o'clock, the company suddenly held an emergency meeting, causing a lot of anxiety.
At this critical moment, somehow, the news of the Carter family withdrawing their investment spread throughout the company!
In the chairman's office, Mary was trembling with anger, saying, "Damn it! Who? Who spread this rumor? Find out! And, have all department heads come to the conference room for a meeting later!"
It was the first time Abigail had seen Mary so furious. She quickly responded, "Yes, I'll arrange it right away."
After speaking, she hurried out of the president's office, taking a deep breath at the door.
Suddenly, a voice said, "Abigail, what's wrong?"
Startled, Abigail looked up to see William.
"What are you doing up here?" she asked.
William scratched his head, glanced at the president's office, and said innocently, "Ms. Smith asked me to come."
Abigail nodded and suddenly reminded him, "Be careful with your words. She is really angry right now."
William smiled and thanked her before pushing the door open and entering.
As expected, the temperature in the office was frighteningly low. Mary exuded a coldness that could make anyone shiver.
"Honey, you called for me?" William asked with a cheerful smile.
Mary was in a very bad mood today. She stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, looking at the towering buildings of East Sea City outside. She took a deep breath, turned around, and looked at William, saying, "The Carter family is pulling their investment from BK Pharmaceuticals."
'So that's what it was,' William thought, feeling a sense of relief. He then said, "Don't worry. I'll handle it for you."
Mary hesitated and asked, "William, be honest with me. Can you really help me?"
William patted his chest and said, "Of course, have you forgotten who I am?"
Mary nodded, then shook her head and said worriedly, "But this time, our opponent is the Carter family from Sunshine Bay City. They are among the top hundred on the wealth list, with assets close to a hundred billion dollars."
So she was worried he couldn't compete with the Carter family.
"Don't worry, honey," William said.
Mary shook her head helplessly. She didn't place all her hopes on William.
Even if William was the master of the Jones Group from the Imperial City, it might not be of much help.
This wasn't just a simple contest of financial power; it involved many aspects of connections and status.
"Alright, you can go out now. I'll think of a way myself," Mary said.
William was stunned that Mary still didn't trust him.
William left the chairman's office and soon saw a large group of company executives heading into the conference hall for a meeting.
William, aimless around the company, bumped into Keith!
Keith was accompanied by two men in black suits and had a flirtatious secretary by his side!
"William? Why are you wandering around again? Don't you have work to do?" Keith asked irritably, his face darkened. In a commanding tone, he started to reprimand, "I see you loafing around every day. I don't know what Mary is thinking. Today, I'll bring it up in the meeting to have you fired!"
William had his hands in his pockets and glanced at Keith's secretary, who had a very voluptuous figure!
No wonder Keith looked so worn out; being with a woman like her would drain anyone eventually!
"What are you looking at? Are you dissatisfied? Let me tell you, I don't tolerate any nonsense. You don't need to come to work tomorrow! Even if you're Mary's husband, I'm the one who calls the shots in this company now!" Keith shouted as he pointed at William's nose, unable to hide the sneer at the corner of his mouth.
William shrugged and said, "Mr. Carter, I'm afraid you'll have to ask Ms. Smith for her opinion on that."
Frowning, Keith shouted, "No matter how capable Mary is, she's just a chairman. I'm the young master of the Carter family! If she doesn't agree, I'll have my dad pull the investment from BK Pharmaceuticals. Let's see how she begs me then!"
A voice echoed, "Exactly! Mr. Carter is the young master of the Carter family. How dare a mere employee like you point fingers at Mr. Carter!"
Keith's secretary, Leah Vane, took this opportunity to step on William, helping Keith vent his anger and earning quite a bit of favor from him.
But she didn't understand William.
Right now, William wanted to hit someone.
