Chapter 285 Abigail's Invitation
"Jeffery, what do you mean by this?" Mary asked, puzzled.
Jeffery sneered and said, "William is not a loser. All of you have misjudged him. He is actually very wealthy. He is the young master of the Jones Group in the Imperial City!"
As Jeffery finished speaking, Mary's expression remained unchanged.
So, Jeffery knew, too.
Jeffery was very excited with a sneer. He looked at Mary eagerly, hoping to see a surprised expression on her face.
But he was destined to be disappointed.
"Jeffery, I have known about this for a long time. William told me himself," Mary said calmly.
Jeffery was stunned. When he first learned the secret, he was extremely shocked.
But now, Mary showed no emotional fluctuation. She had known it all along?
Damn!
He waited long and carefully prepared to reveal William's identity to Mary, intending to show that despite being the young master of the Jones Group in the Imperial City, William wasn't as remarkable as he.
Now, the facts had deviated from Jeffery's expectations.
Mary already knew.
How frustrating it was!
"You knew?" Jeffery asked, pretending to be very shocked.
Mary nodded and said, "William told me everything not long ago. Although his family couldn't help with the crisis our company faced, he had friends who helped us through it by investing three billion dollars."
Friends?
Three billion dollars!
Jeffery was even more puzzled. According to his investigation and the information he had, William had been stripped of all financial control by the Jones Group. What was going on now?
That was impossible!
Without the support of the Jones Group, William was nothing. How could he help BK Pharmaceuticals secure a three-billion-dollar investment?
That was not a small amount!
Where did things go wrong?
Half an hour later, Mary and Jeffery went their separate ways with Jeffery returning to his car feeling frustrated.
After a while, he dialed a number and said coldly, "Use whatever means necessary to get close to William and gain his trust. I need to know his true identity!"
After hanging up, Jeffery looked up at the building of BK Pharmaceuticals and said through gritted teeth, "Mary, you will be mine!"
Meanwhile, William was heading alone to the bus stop when he coincidentally ran into Abigail waiting for the bus.
Hadn't she just joined the company? Why was she here again?
"Abigail, are you waiting for the bus too?" William asked, striking up a conversation.
Abigail had an incredibly attractive and seductive figure, one that could be described as devilishly alluring.
As she turned her face, her angelic features instantly dazzled William.
She was a genuine beauty. Standing at the bus stop, she attracted plenty of attention.
Abigail's stunning figure was a powerful allure to men, almost like a fatal attraction.
Fortunately, William's heart belonged to Mary. To him, Abigail was just a ripple in his eyes, and his heart remained calm.
As William greeted her, Abigail turned her face and flashed an extremely healing smile. She tucked a strand of hair blown loose by the wind behind her ear and said, "What a coincidence. Are you waiting for the bus too?"
After the incident with the bus pervert, Abigail's attitude towards William changed significantly. This was the first time she had so openly and comfortably interacted with a man without feeling awkward at all.
"Yes," William replied. They stood side by side, seemingly running out of things to talk about.
"You..."
"You..."
They spoke in unison and then smiled at each other.
"Thank you for what you did last time," Abigail said first, her cheeks slightly flushed, looking incredibly sweet in the sunset.
"If you really want to thank me, then buy me a cup of coffee," William said as he nodded towards the coffee shop downstairs. He actually wanted to find an opportunity to ask Abigail about the tattoo on her chest.
However, such a private question was hard to bring up.
Abigail was taken aback, then smiled and said, "Sure, but not here. I know a coffee shop that has really great coffee. I'll take you there."
As she spoke, her face beamed with happiness; she was adorable.
They immediately went to the coffee shop Abigail had mentioned, but unfortunately, it was closed. They stood at the entrance, disappointed, comforting each other.
Since they were already out, they didn't mind spending a bit more time. Abigail proposed they visit the nearby mall for a walk and dinner.
How could William refuse an invitation to dinner from a beautiful woman? He followed Abigail into the mall.
To be honest, William didn't intentionally want to go shopping with Abigail; he just wanted to verify something.
Something he had been suspicious about for a long time.
As they walked, they discussed how this dress looked, how that sofa felt, and how that desk was. To others, they seemed like a couple about to walk down the aisle!
Abigail's thoughts were a mystery to all, until William escorted her to her complex, upon which she invited him up.
"Ah, this might not be appropriate," William said, scratching his head with an awkward smile.
Did she have an ulterior motive?
"It's fine. Come on up," Abigail insisted.
William thought for a moment and then followed her upstairs.
Abigail's apartment was very tidy. It was a two-bedroom with a simple three-seater sofa in the living room. Her bedroom had a girlish touch, with a pink theme and lots of stuffed animals by the bed.
Sitting on the living room sofa, William took a deep breath. It smelled so good!
The room was filled with a faint fragrance that was very refreshing.
Abigail had changed into loose-fitting clothes and poured William a glass of juice. "How do you like my place?" she asked.
William smiled and glanced around before praising, "It's nice."
With just a quick glance, he saw down Abigail's loose neckline!
Wow!
He almost had a nosebleed!
William quickly took a sip of juice, only to choke on it and cough several times before catching his breath.
What did this mean?
Was she trying to seduce him?
However, William saw the blood-red spider tattoo on Abigail's chest again.
Where had he seen it before?
It must have been a long time ago, at least before he left the Jones family.
Abigail found William's embarrassed look amusing and suddenly said, "Could you help me with something later? The bathroom light is broken. Do you know how to fix it?"
"Yes! No problem, no problem at all," William replied with a goofy smile.
They chatted intermittently to avoid an awkward atmosphere.
"Hand me the light bulb."
"Give me the screws."
"Try turning it on."
William gave instructions one by one while Abigail stood at the bathroom door, looking up at him. As she flipped the switch, the light came on!
"It's on. It's on!" Abigail shouted as she clapped her hands in delight, her eyes sparkling beautifully.
William jumped down from the high stool, clapped his hands, and said, "Next time something like this happens, just call me. I'll come right over."
William said this casually, but he knew the importance of maintaining boundaries between men and women.
His real intention was to have an excuse to interact with Abigail more and figure out who she really was.
Seeing the sweat on William's forehead, Abigail quickly grabbed a tissue to wipe it off. This gesture felt incredibly intimate.
William raised an eyebrow slightly, looking at Abigail as she wiped his sweat, and was suddenly taken aback!
William swore he wasn't a pervert, nor was it intentional!
It was purely accidental!
Although William's eyes were filled with surprise, his mind was clear.
Abigail was quite interesting.
'Alright, let's see what you're up to today,' Willaim thought to himself.
Abigail noticed William's gaze and quickly blushed, giving him a playful glare. "Stop looking at me like that!"
William chuckled, returning to the living room as he continued to observe his surroundings.
Just then, they heard a man's angry voice and the sound of someone banging on the door.
Hearing this, Abigail, who had been serving William tea, suddenly tensed up, her eyes filled with fear and anxiety!
William was puzzled, wondering, 'Who would be knocking so loudly at this hour?'
When he exchanged a glance with Abigail, he saw the fear and anxiety in her eyes!
Could Abigail have a secret?
Damn!
Did she have a boyfriend at home?
William felt awkward at the thought, but Abigail didn't seem like the type.
So, he asked quietly, "Is there someone else living here?"
Abigail bit her lip, glanced at the floor, and nervously twisted her fingers in her clothes. "Actually..."
Before she could finish, the banging on the door grew louder, accompanied by a man's shouting, "Abigail, open the door! If you don't open it, I'll kick it down!"
